Muaythaiboxer replied to dratix's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
im a wrestler and it is never to late to start. you will be way behind the other guys though. -
san soo is a very effective martial art but i really dought that the average san soo guy could beat a pro MMA fighter. mabe the really great san soo guys (like the master who killed japans karate champ in 2 minutes in WW2) but not the average guy. plus you say that its the mind set, you have to be really tough to go 15 rounds in professonal boxing and even tougher to do MMA so how can you say that the MMA fighter has an inferrior mind set?
-

How Much Time Do You Spend Training?
Muaythaiboxer replied to mikaveli's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
at class 15-20 hrs a week at home 6 hrs a week i dont include running -
also, what is everyones obsessions about being a good street fighter? surely the physical, mental and social benefits are good enough to disregard the fighting aspect completly. if you cant use your style in a fight its not a martial art, martial arts are ment for fighting! the inventer of any style would be ashamed to hear any one say that the social and mental benfits over ride the self defence. as to the main question there are full contact fighters that do Tai Chi Chuan and win(exp Max Chen) the forms are mostly to work on chi flow and techniques there are kicks and punchs in Tai Chi when they fight.

i take capoeira and i see no real figting abilaty in the style. a capoeirista will get out struck by a Muay Thai guy, out grappled by a wrestler, and out danced by a break dancer. i mean no offence sevenstar but the capoeiristas i train with cant fight worth a lick, perhaps the people you train with are better.

Yes, or you may have just hit a bump in your training and need to get over it, also dont give up on your reading it really helps in the long run. PS. if you plan to train at all do all your workouts as hard as you phisicly can. AMITABHA -
Could you beat a street fighter?
Muaythaiboxer replied to STR33T GUY's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
street fighters are not as good as people make them out to be. example (Tank Abbott) he lost most of his fights and his street fighting pals got beat to. -

Whats the REAL deal with martial arts today?
Muaythaiboxer replied to The Fonz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i like pride but its not on as much as UFC so i really cant get to watch that much. i do love how you can stomp people in pride though! -
martial arts are my life, and being so i go a little over bord i train at lest 3 hrs a day every day and do at lest three miles a day running and at lest three hours a week weights. but thats me, for a beginer i would say as much training as your body can take, and minimum 2 days a week two hours, otherwise dont bother.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Muaythaiboxer replied to robadob's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i dont see much use for circular blocks, first of all the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. second in my experience blocks are a waste of energy and time cover up and exorbe the blows. -
im a bit confused why no head butts? why no heal to the kidneys? i can understand most of the rules but not all.

in a pure style vs style the graplers ussualy win semply because a striker cant make you stand a grappler can make you grapple. in one of the very early UFC's a guy with a fifth degree in tea kwon do knocked a guy out with a jump spin side kick but other than that one fight the pure strikers have not faired well.
