why not just step in and throw an elbow? those wild punchs wont do much if you have your gaurd up. -
at 17 im the youngest guy in nearly every one of my classes, being the youngest im also usually the smallest and i have found that technique really comes into play when you are dealing with a big guy. another thought- start pumping iron like crazy and get just as strong as the big guy.

Zen and the Martial Arts
Muaythaiboxer replied to Kyle-san's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i consider zen a very good path to follow for a martial artest. being a theravada buddist i get along with nearly all zen teachings, zen meditation is espesially useful in the hour or so before a match. -
Christianity and the whole "ki" issue
Muaythaiboxer replied to nathanjusko's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
chi is just a natural force on your body and you can use it to help your martial arts but the whole flying, shooting fire balls ect is just plain fake, however there are some buddist monks in tibet and thailand who can do some pretty cool stuff with chi like control body temp. but chi will never be the decideing factor in a full contact fight or a marathon. -
im not afraid to die im afraid to die in a bad way like cancer or dementra or something of that nature, i love life and i dont want to give it up but if i where to go out in the ring i would be happy i went doing something i love.

leg sweeps are the most under rated thing in all the martial arts but i dont think this would be the time to use them. -
good post. its funny i look at the world in a diffrent way now, its like when before i started martial arts all i had was wrestling to keep me motivated and the rest of the year was really lame, but when i took up the martial arts and started to train as hard as i possible it was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders. Before my training i had too many goals to shoot for (school, friends, money) but now im set on one goal and it feels great.

Strength of a punch....born to be a puncher?
Muaythaiboxer replied to Sinar89's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
no one is born to be a great puncher some just have better starting punches than others. if there was a small guy and a big guy the big guy would hit harder train up the little guy and he would hit harder.
