  1. my boxing has helped alot with my muay thai and if anything my hands are better than most of the MT guys my age.
  2. i need to meet your sister! sounds like a neat girl you shouldent worry about the jungle part if anything its a + to the training.
  3. KSU= kansas state universaty there was a guy in pride who did capoeira won his first few matchs then got beaten up pretty badly by a kickboxer/judoka
  4. five guys! wow even if your highly trained the odds are against you i would say either run or get some buddys. not sayin its not possible just not very safe.
  5. these guys are right on, the best example of a MCdojo is the ATA, (american teakwondo association)
  6. you have real fighting spirit, i did nearly the exact same thing i got pounded pretty bad but nothing serious. (black eye, brused shin, cut lip) he wont hurt you to bad, good luck
  7. great article one of the best ive read in a long time. im buddhist but i think its great that you guys take an intrest in faith and the MA always put faith first it will help you more in a fight than your MA will. AMITABHA
  8. when ever i watch a martial arts movie with my buddys i am always doing just what your dad does like ( that would never work!) (why did he just use a cart wheel to hit that guy?) but the public is very ignorent as to MA most people dont even know muay thai, jiu jitsu, chin na, exist
  9. XMA is the worst thing to happen to martial arts sence the mcdojo. no self defence no tradition purely to impress.
  10. i use that now but if someone touches me i wont just take it.
  11. dont even call xma a martial art is a dance very pretty to watch but how they claim its a martial art just makes me sick.
  12. thai boxers do something close to that.
  13. i would never say it cant be used i will just say that i dont think it would win out against the average thai/mma fighters.
  14. yes i did know muay thai was formerly fought with very few rules. todays muay boran is very mush like old muay thai. as for your question i believe that the old school thai matchs where more difficult but i also believe that if you where to put todays fighters in that same ring as the old school guys the new guys would win. todays fighters are slightly stronger (weight training) and in better average shape than the guys of the past. yes in terms of toughness and brutality the old school guys usually win out but i believe that todays modern mma fighters could take the old school guys.
  15. once when i was in wichita (a city in kansas) i made my mouthly visit to the tempel there and one of the monks asked me what i want to do with my life. when i told him i want to be a MMA fighter he gave me a little talk about violence (after i expained what MMA is) when i told him that i would try to donate my hopeful future winnings to charity they where ok with it.
  16. i agree sevenstar like the old kung fu mastors who killed dozens of opponents with swords with there bare hands.
  17. lol... that movie got too strange for me good message though
  18. thats smart ive never thought of that one good way to avoid confrontation.
  19. if the question was for me i take it from KSU.
  20. these guys train like mad men though 10hrs a day i think that if that absorbing stuff people worked people would use it with $ on the line... then again few mma/nhb people train in aikido
  21. LOL. hmmm im still not convinced about redirecting the punch i think it would be better to cover up or avaid then again thats from my point of view and im shure there are many valid others.
  22. oh sorry gilbert i ment no dissrespect to O'sensei i was just a little curious.
  23. i dont use it in boxing (illegal) but in MT i use it sometimes. that said what type of fights do you compete in sevenstar? mma, boxing, nhb, muay thai
  24. i agree with sevenstar normal training will help your legs but there is no harm in useing the bamboo method it worked for me.
