  2. camon i shure there is some old lady in a mcdojo that your more flexible than.
  3. thats not why a lot of us did it we did it for fun no hard feelings and a little extra practice.
  4. as much as i wish a MA could beat a bear it just is not true usless the MA was a swordsman.
  5. good posts all i was just wondering. and it looks like every one is diffrent when it comes to this subject. thx for posting.
  6. i would use a thai roundhouse it would get them to let go. or shoot a single or double leg.
  7. a hammer! if you want to toughen your shins use bamboo.
  8. as others on this forum have put head kicks are risky, but that does not mean they are complety useless. i personally would never kick high in a real fight but thats just me, if you can make high kicks work then by all means use them! if not stay low i cant see want all the arguing is about.
  9. Teakwondo good. 1. cheap 2. good teacher 3. very difficult practice 4. small class 5. not a mcdojo! bad. 1. only twice a week 2. a little to traditional
  10. tai chi is the most popular style in asia but here in the states is mcdojo TKD (ATA).
  11. i tend to be a charger in point or full contact sparring i feel it works the best for me and i usually dont have a problem beating overly defenceive fighters. i do have a slight problem beatin good elusive fighters though there so tricky! are you guys familar with the four fighter princepal?
  12. i was just wondering how your religion effects your training in martial arts i know my religion (theravada buddihism) has had a profound effect on my training and the way i look on martial arts. and i was curious on how each individuals religion effects there training.
  13. just break the wrist and walk away... lol believe it or not that guy went to the same high school i do now for a short time. but seriosly i think this mcdojo get your blackbelt in a week crap is going to be the death of teakwondo in america. i go to one of the few good TKD schools i know of and the ATA is constantly trying to get rid of us here in town they wouldent even let us compete in there "open" tournament. it took me five years to get my blackbelt and i hear the ATA gives them out in like a year.
  14. its a great idea. every once in awile we do that it feels really weird at first.
  15. LOL but what ever happened to the frogs there not on any more i guess the lizard already got to them.
  16. i would just love to take some of those guys to the ring and show everyone what crap there selling. i dont hate anyone but when people mess with the three best things in my life (family, buddhism, martial arts) i get pretty mad.
  17. it just really makes me mad how schools like that make alot of money and claim to teach self defence when they never spar and teach nothing but jumping spining stuff. that is the big reason why teakwondo gets a bad rap from other schools. its all because of the ATA. and yes camon we have street cloths days at my teakwondo school.
  18. i love wrestling but over all BJJ is a better art. wrestlers have one thing going for them and its takedowns. BJJ other than lacking good takedowns has everything wrestling has and much more. and yes a tipicle escape in wrestling does involve turning your back on your opponent.
  19. if you want to get in shape do boxing or muay thai. if you want tradition do kung-fu. if you want to be practicle do MT,BJJ,kyokushin, or krave-maga
  20. when im sparring untrained fighters i like to go to the clinch and do lots of knees.
  21. i really like the speed bad sence i dont own a double bag i find it very useful.
  22. has anyone ever used a backfist? i like to mix them in with my jabs.
  23. i had a really hard time takeing kicks to the thighs when i first took muay thai, more than one good kick and my leg stoped working all the advice i can give you is to get hit alot, its gonna hurt but they get tough eventually.
  24. i would agree with topic dont use head gear it wont help and will only hurt your training.
