  1. thats why i added the 1%. i like books they let me train when i am to tired to train any more. im not talking the teakwondo learn at home typpe books, im talking the classics like the art of war, a book of five rings, hagakuri, tao te ching, i-ching, the really old ones although these new books i have found to be good. secrits of championship karate, tao of jeet kune do,
  2. for me it is the desire to be the best... ever time i hit my bag every time i feel like i cant do another mile i just repeate to myself "I will be champion, i will work harder, how bad do i want it" i love everything about the martial arts. it may seem weird but i even like the pain associated with it, im not a masochist or any thing but every time it really hurts i just put the pain back in to training.
  3. some religions believe it is wrong to show any agression, and some of the monks at the tempel where i go dont think i should do the martial arts. but in my perspective i believe it is my duty to defend my self in a confrontation because if i become a persons victom them i give them a chance to harm another person and give them bad karma.
  4. i had this question because i plan to try to go pro. i already train harder than anyone else i know (20 hrs a week) but i was just wondering what i should focus on more 1. Running 2. Weight lifting 3. Bag work 4. Sparring AMITABHA
  5. hmmm... there was the football players vs the wanabe gangstas brawl, it pretty much consisted of trash talk and the gangstas getting pounded. lol good times
  6. i personaly dont think talent is that big a deal there are some guys who where way more talented than me but evey time i lost to them i just repeated over and over in my head "i will be champion" "i will work harder" and now i can beat all those guys even the ones who had a year or so of experience on me. here's a poem i found Perfection is not born of talent but achieved from endless sacrifice reflect this well - me
  7. in brazil i think there are some guys who could use it but very few in the usa
  8. 1 hour once a week! thats not nearly enough!
  9. i just love it... i dont know why but ever since i steped on the wrestling mat and did my first kick in a dojo i have put my whole life it to martial arts. my friends and family think im nuts cause i train 5hrs a day every day. but i just cant get enough of martial arts. mabe some of you guys have that same feeling.
  10. class first books second, there are some really great MA books out there but nothing can replace the dojo. however books are better than movies.
  11. there is a kung-fu style called shadow fist but i really dont think it would be of any use in mma it's a soft style.
  12. boxing is more popular in the USA because its western. in asia martial arts fighting is far more popular. it a tradition thing.
  13. in japan the jiujitsu guys never did randori so they got destoryed by the judo guys.
  14. you should always have a firm handshake it good charicter.
  15. i would not diss on mma/nhb fighters some of those guys are very nice people out side the ring. once again gilbert i mean no offense but it just seems that i disagree with you more than others, but have you ever actually been in a confrontation.
  16. a better way to become agile is to jump rope alot it helps faster and with less time, time you could spend doing bag work ect
  17. 99.9% of martial art videos are useless, the only way to get good training is to go to a good school, books however are a diffrent story there are some very enlightening books out there.
  18. im one of the most friendly people in the world out side the ring but when i get the go ahead i try to beat the guy im boxing/wrestling/sparring the quickest way i can no mercy. but when the match is over i shake hands and if i hurt the guy a little i buy him a gatoraide. : )
  19. the poor guy i cant blame him, MA are my life and my whole career plan involves going pro if i was told not to do Ma anymore or i would have serious helth risks i would keep going untill i couldent stand anymore. but on the other side mabe he should try training new fighters thats what i plan after i cant compete anymore.
  20. ahhh camon chaz, a guy with no training who you are going to beat anyway, and just to add insult to injury you kick low (very mean but very smart) lol
  21. not if you do it fast, i have never ever seen someone catch an elbow in professional bouts so i dont think you need to worry about locks, you would have to me amazing to catch a solid peace of bone traviling at 60mph.
  22. hmmmm i would still recomend wrestling cause wrestler train harder than most judoka i have seen.
  23. LOL funny posts guys, one big warning be very nice to your gf between now and when you spar. or he may want to beat you so bad that his little girl can no longer look at you with out being grossed out. lol
  24. i know these guys put in alot of hard work to become good at XMA but still that stuff doesnt belong in MA its more suited in dance or gymnastics. i dont care if they can do back flips or hand springs in my opinion the Martial always comes before the Art, thats why is a fighting art and not an artist fighting.
  25. i know not all people train MA t obe good fighters but the ATA is the perfect example of a mcdojo. i trained with the ATA for exactly 1 class, i saw 6 year olds who where black belts, and old ladys, the sparing was"No contact" = worthless, in my opinion the ATA is out for money pure and simple.
