i think the worst pressure point is the one just under/beside the flap of both ears, very painful approach with caution and dont try it out on your mates

hey all, i wondered if any of you guys read martial arts illustrated in the uk, basically in the feb 2002 issue, there was an interesting article on a special breathing excercise know as Lin Kong Jing, "powerful empty force Qigong", it inlcudes a series of standing medidtation at fixed postures for a certain amount of time, if practiced for a few years dedicately, it is said you are able to impose force onto somebody else without actually hitting them, it is said by the author of the article, that when he practiced this excercise for a few years, when he came to draw punch and he drew it half way in to a person holding a pad, it is said that the person who was holding the pad moved quite a distance wihtout being hit by the punch, this seems to be very mythical by the author himself urges that you must try it out for yourself before making your judgement, it is said that this art benefited the likes of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikdo and Kozo Nishino - practicer of Aikidoka, i just wanted to know what were your views on this medidtation excercise?? -ad [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-02-18 16:41 ]

IDEAL KUNG FU STYLE
ad replied to MAVERICK's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
if you want something flashy, go down to the ballerina quaters down tkd lane in my opinoin i would say muay thai is probably more effective, but its not that interesting, so you should basically choose wing chun, because you want to do a martial art which is not only effective but you enjoy it aswell -

Need sparring tips!!!
ad replied to Kickbutt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
hey kickbutt, im sure some of you may have read the forum i set up about sparring, how i was with some brilliant fighter, who i think is a world champion, who just went to hard on me, when in reality it just me not keeping my guard up you must remember kickbutt not to do anything dirty, are excessive, if this black belt fighter is coming hard on you, think, he/she is just fighting how he would fight with another black belt but since your slightly inexperienced he/she is able to catch you out, and it may seem that he/she is being agressive when she/he actually isnt, but never retaliate with a jab or a cross to your head with a full force punch or kick, never aim below the waist or the groin area and always keep your distance, your aim of sparring is not to beat the living day light out of your opponent, but to learn how to be a better fighter, try just permanetly keeping your guard up using only jap and a front kick , but always keeping your guard up, by doing this you will realise that she doesnt seem to go so hard on you, like with me with the world champ in my club i started to this and then started to realise that he wasnt coming too hard on me after all, i bet when you first had a sparring match with her, you trying high kick moving all over the place and not really keeping you guard up and found out later that you got your ass kicked, stick to the prime basics then work yourself up, remeber,a black belt student will probably only use the move that is taught up to an orange belt, therefore an orange belt should be able to take him on, if you know the basics you should be able to fight anybody, use these following tips 1. Always always keep your guard up 2. Block and counter 3. Dont step back from a kick, step to the side and counter with a round kick 4. Always hit, and perform moves, always do something, dont wait for him/her to land a punch first 5. Dont stand locked in a stance, change your stance and move at a rhytym 6. Dont do the predicable side kick over and over again, do it a few times, do a dummy , then follow with a jab 7. and if he/she is coming on you hard, come on him/her harder my fav move in sparring , dummy step front kick, the person will drop is guard to stop the dummy, then his face is open , then follow with a lighting jab to the face hope these tips helped now im of to bed -ad [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-02-15 17:45 ] -

those must be old statistics, that doesnt really seem to be the case now, but what is the case is that 25% of all premier league players are foreign, so its most likely that the black players you seem to see so often are from other countries, but its weird why the england team have a swedish manager???

how should be properly done its odd since, sometimes i do them, then my stomach will start to hurt at about 80reps, then somedays it wont hurt at all, which must mean that i am doing them wrong, i have knee problem so i cant bend it all the way, but that doesnt really restrict in how they perform them, i do the crunches by having both hands behind my neck, titled upwards so that they are parell with the side of your face when looking up like this : lol , with the arms being the l's and the head being the 'o', then i have both feet crossed and in the air, and the knees are quite close to the body, then i lift my head up, briging partially up upper body up and look down straight under my knees , near my crotch and stomach then come back down again with my head touching the floor, - that is one, but is that correct, i have seen them done differently, or should i jus stick with press-ups , i dont have a back problem -ad

Head gear or no head gear?
ad replied to ramcalgary's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
i think there was a recent partition that headgear should be worn for prefessional boxers, its funny how you have to wear it for semi-contact matches, but when it comes to the real hard-core televised stuff, all you got is your gloves, its barbaric, even if you guys suggest that they dont do much which i personally think so aswell, im sure that must reduce some impact that is delivered to you from a full force punch, no matter how little, they could save your life -ad -
Head gear or no head gear?
ad replied to ramcalgary's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
they are important, but it gets really annoying when you try to tilt your head down and look up and cant see anything since the top part of the guard is obscuring you vision, also one nice hit to the side and it will flingin in front of your face like yoda said, and you have to spend time to re-position it whilst you are open to another attack but overall there important better safe than sorry, but i guess that isnt really the case for yoda, -

cool, i never knew that its good to stretch afterwards, i must give them a try , so by doing this , will you be able to kick head height when your lets say jus woke up and havent done no stretching for the past 12hours, by doing after stretches does your body become generally more flexible?
-
thanx alot for the replys, i never knew you should stretch after and b4 you train, i always strech b4 i train but never after, why is this?, you wont be doing any more kicking for the day, these cool down methods sound really good i must give them a try
