  1. read signature!!, sos to do it again though one things, is HO-GAR Kung Fu, the same as Wushu kung fu, and the type of kickboxing i am studying is chinese kickboxing
  2. thnx for the reply. when i fought him, i never attacked, just kept on "blocking and countering", you would be surprised how well it worked, its was funny though, at the end of the fight, he says, "oh yeah the punch never hurt me, i always do crunches so my stomach is really hard" "but you fought excellently", people who are much better than you in fighting, once you train with him you become alot better, now my next step, is instead of just blocking, and always defending, i will know become the attacker, HAHA, but to remember to keep my cool its pay back time -ad
  3. is charp choi, kay bou so fa, farq yu, (mind my spelling) kata for HO-GAR kung fu???, please forgive me if i am wrong but if they are not they still are the same way, gracefull movements consiting of different combos of moves, some of the moves i agree are very useless and seem intimadating, yet some are very helpful and are a great aid when fighting, generally i feel kata moves improves your flexibility and balance, which is very important in the martial art world, so i feel it is useful, kata, is really what distinquishes ordinary fighting, such as boxing, in to the real martial arts -ad
  4. for real, thnx for your guys posts yeah i know i will take me some time, but sometimes its pretty bad and some days its great, its really all about balance any general ideas of how to improve your balance?? i heard cat stance was ideal for this situation any suggestions are most welcome
  5. success, i went again to spar with the same person yesterday, i blocked , i countered, i get my cool, he (as usual went full on), he couldnt hit me, and i persistently kept on hitting him, bringing him down and making me the better fighter, i couldnt have done it without you guys, thnx for the tips its funny how the basics are so helpful even with the most advanced fighters.
  6. hey everybody, the spinning kick is really really ticking me off. whenever i turn 270 degrees , i always not do it fast enough, i get friction in my feet and when i try to lift the leg, i can only spin ankle hight!, though after some strectching and if im lucky i can do it head hight, the main reason why my kicks are so low, is that i loose my balance, and i dont do it fast enough, whenever i do the kick properly, i dont use the heel, but the bottom and side of the foot, do any of you guys know how to improve my spinning kick?, my front kick and round kick, side kick are great, can reach over 6ft with them, its just the spinning kick i havent really clicked yet
  7. thnx for the tip, i shall build up my strength and agility to kick this guys ass but you really think a 14 yr old can kick a 22yr old, we are both the same height, but he dominates me with the strength, -ad
  8. it doesnt seem to be too bad, but i have a consistent problem of always dropping a guard, so she said if you did it again, im letting you fight him, its sort of a harsh punishment, but no biggie, i gotta learn to jus keep it up thnx for the posts -ad
  9. hey. the spinning back fist was just introduced to me for the first time for the green belt grading, but why is it illegal?? in canada?, one thing though, even when the name spinning means to literally swing the arm, i feel there is more force and power when you start with your hand closer to the target, and tense it up really hard towards the end, rather than swingin the arm into the target, loosing some speed and momentum - thus loosing power, its sort of a one inch punch over a full swinged cross, if ya get me -ad
  10. i know exactly how u feel bon, i feel jus the same right know, read my previous forum about some guy who smacked me straight in the face, normally im ok in sparring, but i was defenceless, what pissed me off even more was that instead of the teacher saying , he was too hard, he said that you deserved that, he was light and obeyed the rules, you didnt keep your guard up, oh how that pissed me off. -ad
  11. i have been with the club for about 7-8 months now, i dont wanna leave, i can run away from the problem, im gonna sort it out with him, and the club, honestly, this kind of treatment will only make me a better fighter , ad
  12. i wonder if any of you guys could give me some advice about this form , i hate it, my teacher says "your movements are too stiff", or your stances are not proper, she also complains about my lack of movement in Ka Bau So Fa, mind my spelling , an advice of how to improve it???, -ad
  13. for real, though mostly when it comes to sparring it jus goes back to the simple side kicks, front kicks and jab and cross, even when fighting with the black belts, no fancy stuff at all, jus the ginuwine basics , -ad
  14. i understand your points guys, i gues you guys, haven being the martial arts much than longer me would know that at later stages belts dont signify that your better than a person who has a belt lower than ya, for real , but wait, isnt martial arts about consistency training, obviously the higher the belt, the better the training, the better the fighter i know its not true in all cases, but you guys must see the point im gettin at , thnx for the input keep em a comin
  15. i went back to do my kung fu lesson at the same club today this morning, and i was talking to the same instructor who supervised me yesterday, for the kickbxing lesson when i got smacked, and she was like saying "you always drop your guard when you fight, he was light on you, i have seem him properly, he will knock your head off, you have to put your guard up, its the only way you will learn, ", i guess she is right, but i know for a fact that he was not light, the guy is treatin me as if im a pro, the teacher is startin to really piss me off , mind my language , in future im jus gonna glue my hands to my hand!! thnx for your guys inputs, ecspecially that kicking in the balls trick it, like it!! ad
  16. i was sparring with a brown belt in kickboxing today, and as you guys know, i aint that good at it, this guy is about 19-23 yrs of age, and when i was sparring, he did a full force round kick to my jaw, he had knee pads on, i had a helmet, yet still my jaw got completely mashed, and i started drippin blood everywhere , it was really my fault for dropping my guard, but with him being so experienced and not following the rules of light-semi-contact, it wasnt completely 100% all my fault then, what i also dnt get it, - my teacher really annoyes me, because when im sparring she is always like "keep your bloody guard up". every second, i always do , but for some reason she still says it, i find that the only way of fighting of the brown belt, is to keep doing side kicks, im light as a feather on him, and he is full contact, something needs to be sorted out, any ideas of how to improve my sparring with a guy who is like a world champion, i jus get to scared and nervous all suggestions are well appreciated -ad [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2001-12-07 17:05 ]
  17. i guess your write man belts dont really have some significance, but our club only gives you it, if you are ready, so in our case, a black belt would easily be able to beat a blue belt, if they were the same size and weight -ad
  18. i guess so
  19. hey all, when i first joined martial arts some time ago, i noticed that in my club you dnt start with nothing, and that you actually have to pass a grade to get a white belt, which i did, however, i have seen in many similar art clubs, they put you on white belt, i asked my intructor why this was so, and he said that "my philosphy of life . is that you start with nothing, we give you nothing, a belt is an earning, and by giving you one without know knowledge of martial arts is wrong". i know belts dont really mean much, but what are you views about this dilema all suggestions welcome -ad
  20. hey bon, as me being a religous man, some of the things that are said in martial arts in relation with inner strength, sort of contradict or go against some of the believes in my religion, - i jus thought if people could really give me some input about how chi relates to religion, that would real helpful hey bon- amazing site, wow, i mean some of the things that chi can achieve, the fireball, or the sonic boom, have you actually seen these been performed, can anyone give me a link where i can see pics/vids about chi being demonstrated, it truly is a powerful force
  21. hey, i hope my post wasnt offensive to anyone, i was jus talking about some particular people in our club, they feel that if they have a tatoo, there instantly stronger than me, i feel that is wrong,- thats all im sayin -ad
  22. hey, i guess its always hard in the beginning, though what i really do find funny with the beginners, is how in my club particular, all the no belts and white belts, with the old men, have tatoos all over the body, with all chinese symbols, with like a dragon picture tatooed on their chest, but when they come to fight, there terrible, hehe thnx for the replys -ad
  23. yeah i looked in the kickboxing section, and i found a topic suiting my needs, cheers for the advice by the way, what happened with my 'achieving your inner strength' topic, its vanished , -ad
