i agree, to a certain extent i hear countless times that "it is not the art that is effective, it is the person and how he or she wishes to make it" of course it is the art that is effective, if a strong man was against a weak man, but the weak man knew martial arts and the strong man didnt, then the weak man would win, its not all about the person, its mostly about the technique and how you apply it to best suit the person u are [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-02-27 17:22 ]

Bruce Lee the TKD Connection
ad replied to Iron Arahat's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
yes please bretty get this right people will be under the assumption that he was a long devoted martial artist to tkd which he most certainly wasnt, i believe there was a "mild reference to it" -
hey ct, im sure some of you may have read the forum i set up about sparring, how i was with some brilliant fighter, who i think is a world champion, who just went to hard on me, when in reality it just me not keeping my guard up you must remember ct not to do anything dirty, are excessive, if a good fighter is coming hard on you, think, he/she is just fighting how he would fight with another good fighter but since your slightly inexperienced he/she is able to catch you out, and it may seem that he/she is being agressive when she/he actually isnt, but never retaliate with a jab or a cross to your head with a full force punch or kick, never aim below the waist or the groin area and always keep your distance, your aim of sparring is not to beat the living day light out of your opponent, but to learn how to be a better fighter, try just permanetly keeping your guard up using only jap and a front kick , but always keeping your guard up, by doing this you will realise that she doesnt seem to go so hard on you, like with me with the world champ in my club i started to this and then started to realise that he wasnt coming too hard on me after all, i bet when you first had a sparring match with her, you trying high kick moving all over the place and not really keeping you guard up and found out later that you got your ass kicked, stick to the prime basics then work yourself up, remeber,a black belt student will probably only use the move that is taught up to an orange belt, therefore an orange belt should be able to take him on, if you know the basics you should be able to fight anybody, use these following tips 1. Always always keep your guard up 2. Block and counter 3. Dont step back from a kick, step to the side and counter with a round kick 4. Always hit, and perform moves, always do something, dont wait for him/her to land a punch first 5. Dont stand locked in a stance, change your stance and move at a rhytym 6. Dont do the predicable side kick over and over again, do it a few times, do a dummy , then follow with a jab 7. and if he/she is coming on you hard, come on him/her harder my fav move in sparring , dummy step front kick, the person will drop is guard to stop the dummy, then his face is open , then follow with a lighting jab to the face hope these tips helped now im of to bed -ad [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-02-27 17:07 ]

i thought crouching tiger was a brill film, why because firstly the story line was very captivating, the story was actually better than or equal to the martial arts displayed in the film the martial arts in the film was good, and did follow many chinese arts, and i must at that both the main female characters in the film are actually trained in martial arts, where as chow yung fat is hopeless

Aikido and Realistic Attack
ad replied to Shaolin's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
my brother does it and the techniques he showed me were very intersting and dynamic and effective but not practical i felt aikido removed the simple basics which are needed to become a good martial artist, its mainly a grappling art, if you want one, dont choose aikido, try bjj -

its funny that, thats what actually what the so called "world champion" said for tae kwon do, and i whooped his ass -ad -
YODA no matter how you are standing you always in a stance, so if you do prefer quickness of foot and mobilty, then there must be a stance for it, whether it simply being left stance or right stance,

spinning gumby you gotta realise how long a second actually is, on average a person can speak 300 words per minute that round about 5 words per second, and most people could do a punch per word said, therefore that five punches per second, and everybody should be able to do that, so if you practice it , i would expect that 12 punches per second doesnt seem to be so far fetched -

as being 14, and entering the stages of teenage life, mann do we have our problems, and thats what alot of people dont understand, mainly the adults , all teenagers are obsessed with looks and girls, from a guys point of you, and i would admit i am one of them, we are young and immature, bt thats part of the circle of life, the older u are the wiser you are, but us teenagers are full of energy and life, so if we removed this pob culture from us then the world would just be ****in boring enuf said

mann thanx for the posts commin in it seems that some of you guys think that it just me, but others think it actaully is a prob, but this problem really pisses me off, cuz i train so hard in martial arts, but when i get into a fight, i puke up every where due to an overdose of adrenaline, im fine in a sparring match and i am good with no probs, but in physical fights i cant concentrate and just loose it, i understand that its not that easy to overcome, but i understand the more fights you get into, the more likely you are able to control your adrenaline i appreciate the posts commin, keep them rollin -ad

i just got into a major browl with one person cuz he was just messing about, but anyways he was like 5 years older than me, more than nineteen, and i was just throwing punches and blocking and ****, he was throwing some ones, but they only seem to hit me side on, in the end i tripped him up and i just had this weird feeling where i just felt sick and nauseas, i always get this feeling when i go hyper on someone physically, the feeling wasnt if i was tired, but it just felt weird and made me real sick, in the end i puked up afterwards i dont know what this feeling is, whether its an overdose of adrenaline or what but i dont like it, i cant concentrate and all i can think about is throwing as many punches as possible until the guy is dead, i cant think at all, i dont remember to block or fight properly, i wondered if you guys knew what this feeling is, and most importantly how to fix it! -ad
