  3. hey dbzhub, and welcome to the forum , im afraid martial arts these days is a business and i guess needs to make some profit, in order to be teached you need to pay, if what they teach is satisfactory and will help you defend yourself then go for it, the small price you pay now will benefit you in the long term. -ad _________________ Orange Belt Ho gar kuien Kung Fu Orange Belt Kickboxing 14 yr old 10 and half stone 5,10 [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-01-05 18:07 ]

  7. for real muay, those are some powerful words you put through , hey i guess confidence and determination play a strong role when fighting sorry if you thought i was picking up negative thoughts, i see what your getting at -ad
  8. let me continie what i have to say when i turn sixteen i will only perform moderate weightlifting such as dumbells or bench press ups, though i will not perform any weight-lifting excercise which will result me putting the weight aboe my head, this will compact the cartiallge disc and shorten the back altogethe, stunting your growth, i will only perform the intense full out weightlifting when i turn 18 or 21
  9. i couldnt agree wiht you more mcgee, for real, thanx for the great info kickchick, really gave me some input, i have some sever problems with my knees, and i have been told not to really weight lift, that is why i have decided not to start until im sixteen, i do play for my schools rugby team so i guess im gettin there, and i always do my press ups and situps, but recently i was training like mad, and most shoulders and arms started to ache very badly, -is this because i over did it?? thnx for the info and replys -ad
  10. i agree with you completely aham, is that is cetainly true, though , with the equation power=stregth x speed, i would think that stregth would be the dominant factor which would be most important in delivering the power, for example who would win in a fight between Prince Nazeem ,(has more speed than strength) against Lenox Lewis,(more power than strength), Lennox Lewis of course!! -ad

  13. come on muay, this guy treats me as if im the same age, which i am not, treats me like a pro - which i am not, though i did perservere and i able to defend myself against him , though not yet to be the attacker, i still need to develop more in my skills and physically become more stronger, otherwise i dont stand i chance, when you mentioned that you fought 20yrs. so did i , i felt that i won the fights that i had with them, why?, because they eased down werent so hard and cut me some slack due to me being too young and too inexperienced, come on , r u telling me you would spar with a person who is 7 yrs younger than you, and far less experienced, the same to someone the same ability as you?? -ad

  15. Great excercise jack, i will be sure to try it out hey TKD_McGee, i might have a tip for you which will help you improve the height of your sidekick and make you keep it up in a 90 degree position for as long as possible, you probably already know this being such an experienced martial artist, but for other who dont, here it goes... get a chair, place it so that the back isnt the nearest side to you, then lift any knee up vertically, visually picturing coming up the side of the chair, then once you reached the highest vertical point possible , then move horisontally, - up the top of the chair, then come down, but dont but your foot on the ground, keep it slightly in the air, then perform the excercise again, do this roughly 15 times for both knees, then when you feel more confident, try the other side of the chair, then try something higher, this was a great excercise which i master taught me, and i noticed some REAL improvements
  16. yeah for real sounds kinda perverted, !!! though ver very true -ad
  17. yeah i know which post you are talking about, ill post it, here again, in courtesy of kickchick of course, all credit goes to her..... quoted from kick chick ...anyways, yes push ups are always thrown in for punishment...maybe that is why most of us "bad" guys hate them so. I found that if you vary the type of push ups you do...the better it is to get through them. 1. Standard 2. finger tip 3. two fingers 4. knuckle (use first two knuckles) 5. on back of wrists/hands with fingers pointing away from you, to the front 6. on back of wrists/hands with fingers pointing inward towards each other 7. on back of wrists/hands with fingers pointing towards you, to the back 8. on back of wrists/hands with fingers pointing outward 9. Feet on wall pushups. Feet are pressed against wall about two feet from floor height 10. Arched up pushups. Like chinese pushups, but hands form a triangle which you try to touch your nose in. 11. Handstand pushups. Use wall to keep balance. 12. Plyometric pushups 13. Clapping pushups 14. One hand pushups 15. Korean pushups. With feet spread wide apart and hand placed out in front so that your back is parallel with the ground, shift your body forward and down and then upward. Reverse the motion to go back. 16. Zen pushups. Lay flat on your stomach, hands flat on floor above your head with arms slightly bent. Then push up. These are very difficult and take much practice. 17. Wheel barrow, run & hop. Do wheel barrow with person holding your legs, resisting you as you pull yourself forward hand over hand or two handed hops. 18. Dip chair pushups. With your body between two chairs and your hands on the chair closest to them lower yourself down and then push up. Keep leg out in front of you. 19. Rolling knuckle pushups. Start with forearms on ground with fists pointing inward towards each other. Roll fists inward so that you end up on the first two knuckles. 20. Boxing pushups. Alternating one arm pushups. 21. Chinese pushups. First stand with feet shoulder with apart or less. Lean forward until your hand touch the ground while keeping legs straight. Now lower yourself and then pushup. Seems to use the shoulders quite a bit.
  18. i can see this topic really has generated some queries, recently i was just watching "worlds strongest man" the people on the show are tall and big, but if you look at there body, there isnt much muscular definition, and if compared to a , lets say a professional body builder, you would think the body builder would win strength, but its wrong i would think that most of the "extra power" comes from determination and adrenaline, and the use of what you have, as mentioned b4, sure everyone can build muscle but can they use it effectively?? -ad
  19. looks great, perhaps maybe too intense, but could you follow this strict rountine? the test awaits you -ad
  20. hey all, i was reading the post in the kung fu section about the differenct fascinating facts about Bruce Lee, and that one of the facts was that he was walking with somebody on a beach, and a proper body builder walked past, and the somebody said to bruce lee, that isnt he strong, but bruce lee replied, yeah, but is he powerful, i was always amazed how i saw people who look physically smaller and weaker than another person, yet they would still be able to beat them in arm wrestling, they could lift more in terms of weight, and generally be stronger, but i used to question this fact, how this possible??, how can somebody physically be not as big as another in terms of muscle, yet still be stronger, i wondered if you guys could help me out on thsi one?, and views?, they would be most appreciated -ad
  21. hey mcgee, the description of the one-handed-press up is quite different to why i thought would have been, but i cant do it, so suggest your description is correct i never knew you had to put on foot over the other i thought in order to perform that press up, you would first be in the normal position, where both hands are on the floor, in parralel with your collar bones and shoulders, and you would but on hand behind your back, focus the hand on the floor, and but it in the center in parralel with your head/chest, for stability, and then push down in a press-up motion, well i am unable to perform this task, but does that sound correct?? -ad
  22. thnx for the input jack, the physio has gave me an excercise to do, i have to put rubber tubing around both my ankles, and i lift on leg, stretching the left laseration muscle, increasing movement in the joints, though docters say i MAY have it, and that it is unlikely, so hopefully the results will be i wont have it -ad
  23. no offence, but the information in magazines is slightly sceptical, from the information i have been given from docters, and professionals they had given me a clear NO, therefore it would be better to be on the safe side though i am still yet to be convinced to why it is bad for you, any other offers i really appreciate the replys comming through -ad
  24. hey all, i always wanted to weight lift, with me seeing all my friends of the same age weightlifting and noticing how when i used to beat them in arm wrestles, that now, i dont even stand a chance against them, i am only 14, and i am told by every medical proffesional that weightlifitng at your age is very unhealthy, though the people at the same age who i see doing this, look fine, and have benefited from weightlifting considerably, the medical professionals suggest that i should only weightlift when i am at least sixteen, which i have decided to do, i still keep to the regular press ups, crunches and use of a punch bag everyday, but i keep off the dumb bells or any weights, i wonder if you guys could put in some input for me about this discussion, why is weightlifting at this age so dangerous your help would be most appreciated -ad _________________ Orange Belt Ho gar kuien Kung Fu Orange Belt Kickboxing 14 yr old 10 and half stone 5,10 [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2001-12-29 10:01 ]
