My attitude is kinda weird... I'm usually quite mellow but when i'm about to fight i blink my eyes and just change my temper at will. I think to myself how much i want to hurt the guy trying to attack me, or if it's sparring i think how much i want to show this guy what i can do, and i wanna learn from him.. Angus -
Do you mean leaping at you oponent? Cos i used to practice that. Leaping's good for jiujutsu and some kumite... Otherwise i haven't done any other stuff like that... Angus

Well, if it's out there then they are asking to get grabbed... One guy told me one time if i tried to grab his arm he'd just pull me into an elbow. So we sparred and i kicked him and kicked him and kicked him, then i faked a front kick, grabbed his arm and pulled him into a spinning elbow... HAHAHA!! Angus

Self Defense -- Are One Steps Enough?
Angus replied to tkdwolf's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Wake up wolf... I didn't say i had to make the guy bleed, i said that i don't train with guys who cry everytime they get these injuries. I don't set out to hurt them this way. Read the post carefully next time. There is a time and a place for control, but you have to hit your partner from time to time as well, otherwise you don't know what a real hit feels like. Maybe i am a street thug or a tough guy, i mean they do exist don't they!? I don't care if i'm a 'true' martial artist or not. I'm a guy who learns self-defense techniques, not some 'buddhist monk' dude who sits and contemplates the universe all day long. I wanna know how i violated codes of honour and respect. I honour and respect people who are strong willed and are willing to give their all. RUSHMAN, no, one step sparring is not enough. Angus -

That's why i say you can practice kata and the application of the moves untilt the cows come home but you are not gonna beat teh guy who spends the same amount of time sparring and doing other stuff that's gonna help him in the fight... WOW, you can breathe better than him, GREAT!! He can knock you out with one punch!! dfgshjfgjdfgjsfhsdfghj *going insane* Angus -

Have any of u noticed that there are a lot of people out there who train for years and years in the martial arts and just don't have a clue what to do when it comes time for them to front up and fight!?!?!?!? I find it annoying that these people waste their time and don't gain any self defense out of it... I actually saw a dude go back into kumite stance one time and think he was gonna do okay, and then get the snot beaten outter him... I find it pathetic. I'm by no means the best fighter in the world but i CAN handle myself in a biff! Angus

You see,I will refuse to train with anyone who is not willing to give it their all and who cries everytime they get a bleeding nose or break a tooth! If they think i'm being hard on them then i remind them that the guy on the street aint gonna have a cool temper like me Some people are just weak mentally and physically and don't deserve to be trained with... That's the trouble with a lot of the karate guys, they don't realise until later that they can use their legs to block as well! I do karate now and they come in with these weak roundhouses that i just smack away like a fly, then it's just a matter of throwing them off balance... Angus -
San Shou vs. Muay Thai!!!!!!!!!!
Angus replied to MuayTB1's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Yeah, i just try and point out the good and bad points of the art and i concentrate on whether or not they will b effective in the street. I have done BJJ, wushu, HapKiDo, FSK, Boxing, Zendokai Karate and am now doing Goju Ryu karate. I've tried a lot of things and i point out the things i like and dislike. We're kinda the same Danny Boy, cos we're what's known as Freestyle Martial Artists. Angus -
I use the step-jump spinning back kick, where u kick with the front leg. I do that a lot in karate kumite because they start to get pummeled by my kicks and take the defensive Nekawashi-dachi (cat stance). When i see them go back into defensive stance i just fly at them. It's fun! Most of the time in kumite i just work my foot techniques if it's only semi-contact. I work the hook kick a lot, and sometimes the spinning hook. They just keep their guards so goddamn low! It annoys me cos if i wanted to hit them in the head (or if i was allowed for that matter) then i could so easily knock them unconscious! One thing i've found with my BJJ and the kumite stance (with which many have a low guard and an extended forarm) is that i can grab their arm and pull them into a side kick. if i moce quick enough i can stun with a front/side kick then recoil and strike with a crescent/hook kick. BANG BANG, like greesed lightning! Angus

That's why i don't like the kumite stance. That and it's guard is standardised WAYYYYYYYYY too low... Angus
