  1. And ifit doesn't heal in 3 days, go see a doc. I'm sure your Sensei is a wise man, but this is your jewels we are talking about! If Jesus appears to you right now and says don't go to the doctor, it will be fine, ignore him and go to the doc! Try some asperecreme on it, that would help. DO NOT use Hot Ice on it. And above all less, if you contenue to do full contact sparring, BUY A CUP!
  2. Well said. Don't waste the Admin's time. I don't see how what I said broke any of the Forum rules, but go ahead and report it, it if offended you THAT much.
  3. Notice he said "pain" not soreness. I just wanted to clarify. Being sore for a week after is normal on your first few workouts, or new progrmas after a break.
  4. Have you ever heard of Kata? What about combo drills? Isn't this form of training just doing moves in prearranged fashion?
  5. Sounds more like a personal problem to me. If you can't see a haymaker coming at you in time to block or dodge, then maybe Martial Arts arn't your cup of tea. There is more then one way to get out of a lapel grab, if that move doesn't work for you, there are at least a dozen more. How would BJJ handle this situation, want would they do that JJ guys wouldn't?
  6. Thanks for the input, but shoulder work is kind of advanced. The problem with Shoulders is it has 3 heads, and unlike other muscle groups, that only move one way, the shoulder joint is a strange joint that moves in many directions. So while the biceps are pulling the fore man in, and the Quads are pulling the low leg out, they shoulder muscle move the arm up, down, left, right, back, and front. Working them with one exersice will inballance the rest. That is one of the problems many people have with shoulder when weight lifting. Reverse flyes work the back shoulder head, but the middle and front, plus the smaller supporting muscles, would be left unworked. I think she would do best to just work what she has, chest and back exercises should work the shoulders just fine for a beginner to lifting. Thats just my two cents.
  7. Nice program, but you have no back work in it. Pull ups, pull downs, rows, you need to add something to get your back worked. And your stomach as well. As come sit-ups in, and a few twist ups. I would suggest 4 sets, 8-12 reps. That is about as basic as it gets. I would suggest buying the book "Complete Conditioning for Martial Arts" by Sean M. Cochran. It was written by a black belt in TKD. I didn't find it very usefull, because I was looking on some streingth books for Jujitsu, and most of this facts are wrong about Grappling, BUT, he does go into great detail about Training for TKD and Karate. Very good book for Strikers wanting to spend a little time in the gym. A MUST READ!
  8. Yeah, here is site with some kata info: http://w3.trib.com/~smammon/isshin.html#kata
  9. Hey Shazaam, it's easy to parrot what you here other people say about a subject so can you please include an example of some of the techniques that don't work. Just for my edification. Yes, I'd be interested in knowing this as well. Please share with us those moves that JJ does that doesn't work.
  10. Buy a cup.
  11. No, you have is mixed around. We where wondering whither or not the fighting he learned in the Matrix would work in the real world, or would his Physical body limit him. We are talking about Him being outside of Matrix, in a body that didn't use his muscle for the first 25-20 years, could he at least perform basic Martial Arts that where Downloaded into his brain? Could he kick with proper form and contact points, could he throw properly, etc., in the REAL world. We all understand the concept of the Matrix. Children raised by wolves understand the concept of the Matrix. WOLVES understand the concept of the Matrix. Speaking of which, Everyone who is a fan of the Matrix and/or Philosophy, I'd suggest picking up a copy "The matrix and Philosophy" It is a collect of essays, very good book.
  12. Screw that, just Download SchooL!!!!!!!
  13. Um… strange. Is there some other way you can describe? I'm not sure I'm seeign this in my head right. You may just have strange muscle shape.
  14. I’d say Ju Jitsu. You might want to do both, see which one you enjoy more. Visit both schools.
  15. Sleep and coffee.
  16. Rachael- Once a month would be pushing it, that is a little to much. As for what the Doc said, talk to your sensei. Maybe take 2-3 weeks off, then spend the rest of the 6 weeks doing light training. No Sparring, not even light contact in a redman suit, and no heavy drilling either. Just do light drills and kata till it heals.
  17. Ok, guys if you could just DL the Martial Arts of your choice into your brain, would you? One thing I’ve wondered is if he could use what he DLed in real life. I mean, his mind can do it ,but his muscles have never done anything like that before. Would he be any good?
  18. After training in a good karate school, you will at least be able to fight an attacker off.
  19. Chuck Norris all the Way! He is a corn-feed country hick, strong as a bull and tough as boot leather. He was a nature athlete. Bruce Lee, on the other hand, wasn't the best physically specimen. Norris would trounce Lee, no contest.
  20. In that case, I'm glad I shared it
  21. WTF? I'm Botan? Thats just not right! "I'm friendly, chipper, and only grim when I have to be. When the taste is at hand, I'm all Bussiness" Ah, that sucks. I should be Yusuke, beotch! Hey, at least I'm not Yukina, right?
  22. Define "regularly"? Yeah, breaks are good, they keep you from burning out. Some pro's who LOT there choosen sport talk about forcing a break, let your body fully recover, tells you be lazy for a while. Vacations are good for the body as wel las the soul. It can be a handerance, if you do it to much. Don't take breaks to often. Have you ever had a day when you just don't want to work out, and your dagging your feet in training? This is normal if you get it every once in a while, but if this lasts for 2 weeks or more in a row, you need to take a break. Half-assing it is going to get you anywhere! Better to just take a break for a week or 2, then come back full force. Better then forcing your self to do something you don't want to for a year, then leaving for good.
