Wasn’t sure whether this was best put in Internal Arts or Humor, so Mods, move as you see fit. The lasts Foamy Cartoon is about Meditation: http://www.illwillpress.com/melee.html Thought it was to good not to post!

Jujitsu has less rules. Judo is a sport more then anything. Striking is only for self-defense and to speed up footwork and handwork, and increase flexibility in Judo. But Strikes are legal in Jujitsu tournaments. Judo is basically a grappling art made mainly as a sport. Jujitsu is more complete, with strikes and grappling. Judo also came from Jujitsu, the founder of Judo was a Jujitsu man.

Judo vs Aikido
Tibby replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I'd go for Judo. -
What kind of Knight? Samurai are from Japan, but Knights are from all over Europe, and they al have different fighting styles and Armor. A knight on a horse with a lance? A knight in Chain mail was a broad sword? A knight with a breastplate and a saber? I’m going to assume you mean the fairy tale knight. Shining Plate armor, big ol’ long short, a heater style shield vs. a Samurai. I'd say the knight because he is better equipped. BTW: Bdaze, the knights had a code of honor, too. Ever heard of “Chivalry”? Just like the Samurai, they mostly ignored it, the Knights had a code as well.

Says who? Maybe you should watch a Few body building shows before making that assumption. Watch the free posting, some of them add full splits into there routines, and many take Ballet to make there posing better. Remember the Opening seen from Pumping Iron? Arnold and Franco are taking Ballet lessons. Watch Sumo wrestling, all that bulk, and they are still flexible and fast! This is all assuming that you will burn muscle. When you lose weight you are not just burring calories, you are burning energy, in the form of Carbs and Fat. The only way you are going to burn muscle is if you are either starving your self, or overtraining. You normally don’t “burn” muscle. The protein that make up muscle take almost as much energy to burn as it uses, you almost break even. The body knows this and only burns muscle in extreme circumstances. How long have you been lifting? After while, you will not feel it any more. You muscle don’t get sore. Your muscle will still be a little weak, but your Sensei will understand and go easy on you if you explain the deal to him. My Sensei goes easy on me when I’m in pre-meet mode. Oh, now I get it. By “body building” I assumed you meant the sport. You just mean weight training, right? Wrestlers mostly weight train off season, the training for in-season wrestling is very different from a Body Builders routine. Most people who do weight training and an other sport choose which one comes first. You will have to choose eventually. As you get close to going to a tournament for you MA, you may want to back off the weights, if you get close to a weightlifting meet, you may want to take a break for a week or 2 from MA so you can focus on the meet ahead. You don’t have to ever give up either, but if you want to go competitively, you are going to have to learn when to take a break from one for the sake of the other.

Franco Colombu was a National Champion in Italy in Boxing. You are not going to be the next Mr. Olympia without steroids. Look at guys like Vandam, as you said, and take a look at Shamrock! Look at those Wrestlers in the Olympics. Weightlifting isn’t going to hurt your Fighting skill at all!

I'm with Sho-ju, word for word. There are different types of power we produce. I could outlift a world class track runner, but he can out run me without breaking a sweat. I'm on the fence with Ki, but I'm leaning FAR toward "no."

My Sensei at the studio a lot, and my Assistant Sensei gets off at 5, and works out any time after that. No charge except for the monthly fee for the classes.

We normally blindfold one person, and 3 of us sound him, making sure to make small amount of sound with the feet, and move in for strikes. We also spar in dim light, for the same reason. lol, man, ldmc, lights out and stuff on the floor. Soundsl ike fun, but that is a law sue waiting to happen!

Patrick- Come on, Puffy is a "gangsta" lol But your right, Kobe is never going to be the same again in the publics eyes. Monkeygirl- Right, thats why does he need to rape! It just isn't logical! And I don't think all girls are in it for the money. Not every girl is a gold digger, just the ones that hang around the mines And Kobe is one of the biggest Gold Mines in Basketball!

We charge 60 a month for 3 days a week, 25 for all belt testing but black belt, which costs 100 (all of which include price for belts, papers, etc). And that just keeps the light on! And the Sensei as missed 3 classes in 15 years, and teaches all the time. My Sensei wouldn't dream of allowing the Senior students to teach without an expert to correct them unless he HAS to! I wouldn't pay 10 bucks to be Senior students punching bags, let alone 100! They didn't sell out, they bought in to the idea "If they are stupid enough to think we are a good school, why is that our problem" school of thought. The owners clearly only care about money, otherwise they would be there! You say ownerS, so I assume there is more then one, and you are telling me between them they can't make the classes!? If this is the way they make there living ,they should be there! Oh, I have to work tomorrow, it is a Friday night, I'm working till 10! I don't want to be there, but I have to. It may put a damper on my personal life, but I have to get money! People all over the world SHOW UP to work and still have time for a personal life, why should they be any different?

Well, I'm 5'5"... lol. What is amazing are those Drawfs at the powerlifting meets!!! They are so short so they are in the lightest class, and they like barely bend their knees and that is a squat in good form! lol, that is calf work out!!!!! When I first saw one at a meet, I was surpirsed, and he took first in his weight class!

The girl is clearly full of it for 2 reasons: 1. Why would a girl refuse a rich, famous Athlete? I find it had to believe she was hanging out with him and didn’t want to have sex with him. She is a groupie, clearly, which brings me to my next point. 2. Did she think Kobe was hanging out with him for her sweet personality? Why else would a Rich, famous, Athlete hang out with 19 year old girl!!! If she really didn’t put it all together, people that stupid are just asking to be taken advantage of! Don’t get me wrong, I’m against rape. My mentors sister was raped. And her raper walked free. I against rape, which his exactly why I’m against this case. Every time some * like this shouts bogus rape, she makes it all that harder for the REAL victims to get justice! Even if he did do it, he is getting off. OJ, Puff Daddy, and Kobe.

I'm with Sasori_Te. If you just want to kick and punch people, join Kick boxing, Karate has elements of Tradition to it. Plus, it helps with Muscle memory and technique.

Same here. That is why I asked. I know very little about meditating, maybe someone can explain in more detail.

I voted jujitsu because I take it. I here hapkido is to the Korean’s what Jujitsu is Japan. While the Striking on Jujitsu resembles Karate to a small extent, so does Hapkido striking resembles Tea Kwon Bo a little. On top of that, I’m a fan of the Japanese art, I never really got into the Chinese styles to much, unless you count the old school Shoalin movies, lol.

Muay Thai vs Krav Maga
Tibby replied to aznkarateboi's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I know for a fact that US Special operations don’t use it, because my father was in J-SOC. Do you know the number of Military and law enforcement organizations and personnel that trained in Krav Maga both here in the states and across the world? Please, give me a list. Aside from the IDF, I can’t find any specific groups. You don’t think it is about the money? You don’t think there are guys out there using the Hype from “enough” and the crap going on in the Mid-east to make a fast buck with Krav Maga? If you don’t think this is a the case, then you, my friend, are speaking out of ignorance. I'm willing to bet the vast majority of the "teachers" world wide are Orange belts in karate with a KM tape, trying to make a fast buck. Anyways, if we want to continue, I’d suggest we do it in PM, or some other thread, they will say the post isn’t following the guidelines and it will get locked. -
Muay Thai vs Krav Maga
Tibby replied to aznkarateboi's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
That may be, but he makes a good point. Krav Maga is an art that is currently used by many to make a fast buck. I don't know any Law Enforcement of Special Forces troops who use it. Mauy Thia WWAAAYYY Before KM.
