How do you train at home (outside of the dojo)
Tibby replied to Practise is the Key's topic in Health and Fitness
Some painter decided to get drunk before going to work. Lucky for him, it was the home of a starshumcks drinking Yuppie he was painting. So, as soon as the painter explained it was the current fad, people where getting it left and right. We have it to, it HURTS! -

Is this guy for real? Hey matt, you still haven't explained where the sword equates into this! -
Huge Hupher, 7 girls a night, at age 70.

Yeah, in this area, towns of less then 10,000 have some boxing schools. But, ironicly, the big towns around here do not!

Anyone know of any good books about the mental aspect of it? Someone was telling me about this book he read about the Ninjitsu way of Mental attacking a foe. What do you guys think? A crock, or should I check this book out? -

Vale Tudo and BJJ

TJS and Kyle- Good points... But I have to disagree with TJS. Striking is more fun to watch, but marketing is a large part of it. BJJ is seen as a new, exciting, fun fighting style, TJJ is known as a version of Karate or Judo. Marketing plays a BIG factor in BJJ's success. Matt- Swords? WTF? -

Simple. For the same reason grappling is more effective, but striking arts get more fame and cash: good marketing. -
That is odd. You should have something. You must not be in a big boxing area.

This is the same theory they use to prove Bigfoot isl alive. BJJ is a spin-off. Anyone who told you different is full of it. The Gracie's took Jiu-Jitsu to make BJJ. Sambo, Judo, and wrestling? First of all, Judo is a spin-off of Jujitsu. As for Sambo and Wrestling, where did you hear this? I googled and couldn't find anything talking about BJJ coming from anything but TJJ. BJJ is a part of TJJ. -

Weight lifting, some cardio, weighted kicks and punches -
If I don't get a good cardio 3 times that week from sparring, I will normally run a mile or 2 on the track to make up for it. On top of that, I try to run a mile a week, on a road run, just to give me a change in cardio workout.

matt- I think your you left you caps lock on. Lighten up, bro. If your so great, why are you getting so defence when some is talking about it? What are you trying to prove? You can talk tougher then me online? We have a name for that in TJJ, it's called kuchi waza. Matt, this is the internet, you are getting upset at a block of text. Nothing has ever been settled by typing in all caps and using words you know are going to be edited out anyways. My location is to your left, if you feel that strongly. Johnny- I'd be hard pressed to find a single NHB fighter who is pure anything. -
Vale Tudo and BJJ

You tell me not to put words in your mouth, but the rest of your post is putting words in my mouth. If you don’t want me to put words in your mouth, I expect the same courtesy. I don’t think TJJ is the ultimate art, I just think it is the most well rounded art. If a Jujitsu man focuses on his Jujitsu and studies all the technique, instead of focusing only on strikes or only on submission, he will be a great fighter. BJJ is just a spin-off art. BJJ=TJJ ground work. -

The TJJ ground work is great. Where do you think BJJ ground work came from? You think the Gracie's just pulled it out of their *? You think a magic catfish popped out of the water and showed gracie how to do an arm bar? TJJ ground work is just as good a BJJ ground work. And as for striking, of course boxing or Kickboxing will have better striker, they FOCUS on striking, while TJJ covers all kinds of different things. But who needs GREAT striking when you have good striking, good throws and take downs, good missdirection, and good submittions? -
Aikido is great with misdirection. Ki or not, anyone who has faced an Aikido guy cannot debate the fact that they can misdirect like there is no tomorrow. It really depends on how fast you are and how much you know about misdirection. Most of Aikido is waitign for the attacker, so you can always just be a bitch and no attack them! lol, that should throughly piss them off! lol Cloaddragon- Please stop posting bullshit to boost your post count.

Yeah, when you WATCH MMA< it LOOKS like they are going BJJ all the time on the ground. There is a reason for that. BJJ watchs is groudn work from Jujitsu and Judo. Why take BJJ and Boxing when you can just take Jujitsu, and get all of it covered in one art? -

Sano- Yeah, maybe your neck is stronger. Or maybe your in a ligth weight class. I was a welterweight that had to spar with heavier guys, even a few heavy weights, because there are not to many guys in my weigth class. Maybe that was part of the problem. All I know is mixing up weight classes can really help you when you are facing someone in your class. They are either faster or stronger then the guys you will be facing. It is great! lol. So bat, how much boxing have you done!
