Samurai vs. Kali Warrior
Tibby replied to Treebranch's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
What? Dude, the Samurai where shut down. Sure, they’re descendant lived in secret, still studying the arts, but the Samurai Warriors where not around in the 1940’s. Where are you getting your info? -
Yes, I can see your point, but MY point was, thew samples and demo's and attacks that I have seen or read about arn't much different from other arts, come on, attack vital points, OH, that is new! The Israelis aren’t the first to thing this up, from what I can tell from the things I have observed, they made a system that already existed, and has existed, for Centuries! Now, because I’m not a Grandmaster in the art, I have not seen everything from this art, but this is after the things I have seen, this is the conclusion I have come to.

lol, it is a great movie, but it is to slow in starting, that the action doesn't last long enough. The Battle seens were cool! Good idea, training on a pig. To bad the cost so much, lol. -

The word "Style" is misleading.
Tibby replied to Treebranch's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah, this is just semantics, not that big of a deal. You know that I mean when I ask you what styles you study, and that is what matters. But, it was a fun topic to read an discuses, thanks for posting it, bro. -
If you are going to go thru all that trouble, why not just learn a summoning spell and summon Natalie Portman to obey your every command! Lol Back to the topic at hand, s are not like guys in what they like. What do guys like? , booty, and a nice figure! It isn’t that simple with s. Different s have different . Most like Muscular guys, but I know some who really go for the stick boy, skater look. Most s like outgoing guys, but I know a number of s who enjoy guys who are quite. Some like it soft, some like it rough. Women have their own likes an dislikes, they don’t always go for the same thing like guys do. One thing I have learned in all my time, s like pretty boys. I went thru my little “Freak” stage, I dated “freak” s, but when I grew up and stopped paying for a 50 dolor pair of pants and don’t even fit, and started dressing simi-preppy, I dated freaks as well as Preps. You don’t have to spend 50 for a pair of “vantage” pants, just by some nice, cheap clothes from old navy, and watch the s come! That is my 2 cents. can correct as they see fit

People go a different paces. A lot of McDojo’s will say “3 year” so they will not sound like a McDojo. The truth is, some people are naturals, others have to work hard. Most judo schools say “3 years” And when you take into account that Throwing is harder to do then Kicking, it would seem only nature to assume that if someone can learn 70 plus throws in 3 years, someone can learn to Kick in less that time.

I’m in a Jujitsu class what focuses a lot on Judo. Both Judo and Aikido come from Jujitsu. Judo is similar to Jujitsu in many ways, Except Jujitsu uses more striking and things of that nature. Judo is more of a Sports version of Jujitsu now a days. Aikido is more of an Art version, it is the Tia Chi of Jujitsu.

I assume you are A high ranking black belt in Krav Maga since you know every technique in the sytem? Since KM is a completly diffrent system and has infulences from wrestling/boxing/JJ etc I highly doubt them techniques are all found in Isshinryu anyways. Funny. Would you like me to rephrase? krav maga- A lot of hype. From the Techniques I have seen, it is basic stuff you learn in Isshinryu Karate. Complete different? Completely different from what? There are only so many ways to fight off a person! Only so many ways to hit the groin! But, I assume you know that, seeing as you know so much about Both KM and Isshinryu.

Dude, for real, I think style is a prefect way to describe it. A Style, is a way of doing things. I think is fits. Wither the styles used those name in the past, it isn’t the issue. NOW, right now, different Martial Arts version do things differently. I think style is the perfect way to describe it. It would get confusing, if we all said “Martial Arts” because different arts have different things. -
jiu-jitsu- -Just left Karate and Started taking it. I like the art, much more fun to learn, and moch more to learn. wing chun- Don’t know much, but they are good with the hands shotokan- Not sure about this one, but I hear nothing but good things about it. krav maga- A lot of hype. I’ve learned all those Technique and more in Isshinryu Karate.

I think the deference is, Self-defense is a one-sided attack, with one person is harassing or hurting the other person, and the other trying to get out of it, while a street fight is when both parties are ready and willing to “throw down.”

Well, let me give you an example. In Issh, I learns a move called the Soto Makikomi, which looks like this: http://www.judoinfo.com/images/animations/sotomaki.gif The Issh version, you wrap around, till they lose or weaken their grip, and start hitting. It works if there grip isn’t strong. The don’t send them to the ground, and you don’t really get your body right next to the attacker, both things that make the move descent. And either way, you pull them close to you so you can hit closer. But, as you can see from the Judo pic, it is a little different. First day in Jujitsu, I tried, that, didn’t quite work to well.

Tackle/Two leg takedown
Tibby replied to Black Dragon's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Get him in a guillotine hold, and pull back. -
That sounds like both the martial arts I take, lol. Jujitsu and Isshinryu Karate. Isshinryu’s throw are infact not prefect, they focus mostly on strikes and kicks. Most Martial Arts have weapons training of some kind.

Um... yeah, I was quoting you... anyways.... Oh, traditional arts can be sports. The Difference is, it is a sport that pratices using just that style, it can b sport, but there is normally more to it. In the Case of MMA, the mat is what it is all about. If it is such a "martial" art, then why do the Armed forces use Jujitsu guys when wanting to teach and train the men who will teach and train the Soilders? Why not an MMA guy? And no, you are not correct. Bot h the Karate and the Jujitsu I've taken are Traditional, and both treach and train for combat. Yeah, A sport is something like MMA. Yeah? Point being? How about this, someone gets a Blakc belt from a Great Karate school, then gets a Black belt from a great Judo School, How well will he do in MMA? He has learned a striking and a Grappling, and on top of that, he learned both Traditional Styles. BJJ and other non-Traditional Styles have flaws in them that where hammmered out ages ago in the Traditional Styles. If it is not a style, then how can it be a Martial Art?

Then I'd say that is a rip.
