  1. I'm in love with the guy typing this message You never really know if your inlove until it is over, to be honest. I look back and I think "Dude, I really didn't lvoe her" or "Man, I didn't see it then, but I reall did love her" So for you ex-BF trying to make you jealous, if it isn't working, why are you even mentioning it. Just don't think about him PEROID, you will be happier in the long run. On the bright side, if he is trying to make you jealous, it means he is still thinking of you. He just can't get you out of his head. He is the one who sounds jealous, jealous he is with her, not you. As for that other guy, guys don't tkaeh hints well. Guys fear if they are getting the hints wrong, they will have there pride hurt, and mess up a friendship. You're going to have to tell him how you feel, get it out in the open. He is no doubt just a little nervous about bringing it up.
  2. Here are a good wrapping site: http://www.boxinggyms.com/tips/handwraps.htm I noticed you listed more Bicep exercises then anything, and you didn't list any back exercises. The Biceps are mostly just for Uppercuts. You will be using your Triceps a lot more, witth jabs and crosses. ANd about making you muscle stiff and slow, it is a myth. Just work it normally, about 8-12 reps, enoug hweight so that you CAN'T Explode. Explosive movement can be a wase of time. Do your bench press with an explosive movement, and keep you palms open, the bar will shoot right out of your hand. The only work you get is from lthe first few seconds you push up, the rest of the lift is carried by your force from the take off. Matt Furey does have some good stuff, check it out. About Tyson, in is day, he was fast and mean. He would get inside, to close to do much of naything but a few knees, and hammer away. The Thai boxer wouldn't stand a chance. But lately, he has had trouble with those tall guys, so with a few kicks, he would get owned if we are talking abotu him NOW
  3. If you take care of your body, and get lots of water before and after and during, yes. Heat puts stress on your body and brain. You are not always going to gget in Air conditione well lit places when you skill comes in handy. Some tourniments maybe have a place not as nice as your studio, and you could be fighting in some hot places. When you are in a Studio, you are in a controlled area. Add in a variable, like heat, or cold, or dark, and see how much you will improve when you are in prefect climate.
  4. Read Kodokan Judo, then get back to me. He didn't make it to be a sport like we pratice today, but he did want it as a sport.
  5. Actually, Sumo is older then JuiJitsu. Now, all of the sweeps and Throws, the modern Sumo, that make have come from JuiJitsu, because many Sumo moves are named the same of many judo moves, but the Sport of Sumo is OOOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDDDD. Legend states that about 2,500 years ago, the gods Takemikazuchi and Takeminakata grappled on the shores of Izumo along the Japan Sea coast in what is now Shimane-ken, until the Takemikazuchi finally won, and from his line descended the Imperical Family. Now, I doubt they were gods, but if these 2 warring Cheifs battled it out 2,500 years ago in the first Sumo match, that would place it at about the same age as JuiJitsu, I'm guessing. I know it was a parent art, but I've never head of Taijuitsu. What books is this? It sounds very interesting, I'm going to go pick up a copy.
  6. Not me. I did just karate for about 2 years. I just started taking Juijitsu/Judo, a few months after I stopped Karate, due to distant. Most Sensei's give you different advice, each one aplying to the Art you are working on. To take 2 at once may be a little overwhelming. For Example, last night, I had my sleaves rolled up and the Assistant Sensei in JuiJitsu saw I extend my arm all the way when we praticed punches, which would make is easier for a JuiJitsu guy to make a joint lock, but in Karate, we extend our arms all the way. I strongly believe you need to take sevreal styles, because all the Masters and Arts have something to be learned, but taking more then one at one time might keep you from focusing on that art to your fullest.
  7. Yeah, with that speed bag of a head Iron Mike has, it would be a close match. In his prime, that is. Now, he would last a while, but he would get stomps. But in his prime, I think he could hold his own against a Thia guy.
  8. A slap? How many times have you been kicked in the face? It depends on the shoes. If someone is wearing Running waffles, the cloth and rubber is going to be softer then bone and heel, if would hurt less then a heel to the jaw. If the person is kicking with steel toed boots, IT WOULD HURT! IF you are sparring outside, use a pair of good crosstraining shoes, I'd say.
  9. Judo was made as kind of a sport. Aikido was made as a pure art, with little fighting. They both took what they know from Juijitsu.
  10. My first wreck, when my car went into a ditch. I was teaching my younger sister the proper way to speed on a back road, and as I was coming up the hill fro mone said, and SUV was coming up the other side, taking up the whole @#$ road, and not even bothering to stop. We landed in a like a steap ditch, went into a barwire feild, though the bar holding it up, and had to drive thru the feild to get out. The cras hwas scary, facing my parents was even scarier! Good thing it was only body damage. The Ironicy part, my sister had 3 pizza's and 2 drins in her lap, didn't spill a thing! But I learned my lesson. Next time, I'm taking a side panal and a merror out. Teach them to hit and run!
  11. I think by great fighter, he means great Prize Fighter, great boxer. Just to be sure, do you know how to warp? Sence your new, if you don't know how, look it up online, there are sevreal ways, and your trainer may show you a new one, but in the mena time, get a good one online. Good luck chasing your dream, and let us know how it goes, bro. WHat is your weight program like? I'm into that sort of thing, I'm just wondering.
  12. aikido + more aggressive = JuiJitsu lol

    Isshin Ryu

    1) For Self Defense, it is a great art. That is the main purpose it is, it is a combat school. We learn specific kicks and moves for the groin and eyeballs, and other such things, yes there is a kick titled the “Groin Kick” 2) We try to do Throws and light grappling ,but ever Since taking JuiJitsu, I found out how LIGHT that is. I tired one of the grapples, which in Issinryu was meant to cause your foe to lose his grip on your shirt, and couldn’t do it, the Guy grabs me “Do you mean this?” and lands me flat on my back. We have a little grappling, but if Throw and grapples are what you want, Karate isn’t your style. 3) All I’m going to say is, we wear cups, you do the math…
  14. Those are good arts, but with limited or no strikes. Plus, a Catch Wrestling school would be hard to find. I’d suggest and Art with Strikes added, so you can get used to using your wing chun striking skills and combining them with Grappling. Combining the 2 is a lot harder when not training with them together. An Art like JuiJitsu or Hapkido.
  15. Yeah, I asked someone about that tonight ,and that is what they said. They only learn a few moves. Just enough for self defense, not the tons and tons of stuff we learn in Martial Arts class.
  16. Go to a trainer. If you want to be a pro boxer, you will need a trainer. He will cover all this. You need to be Aerobically conditioned. Jump rope, jog, Spar. You need to get some bag work in, pound that bag a lot. You need to get stronger, get in the weight room, start lifting. Don’t worry about conditioning your knuckles as much as you need to take care of your hands. Those are your money makers. Don’t go don’t any bag work or sparring without your wrist ATLEAST being wrapped. Again, get a trainer. He will know what to do! If you ahve one ,adn he isn't showing you all this, Get a new one!
  17. While it isn’t the coolest thing to try to look “pretty” you have to remember you are representing your Dojo. You never know who could walk in in the middle of class, looking for a school. Your going to sweat and bleed class, at least have it look nice so you can train with a little Dignity!
  18. Yeah, TKD and Jud o are the only Olympic Martial Arts. I know they are trying to get a Kata competition into the Olympics, but Olympic Karate...
  19. I’ve wondered that myself. Why is it Jarheads can learn the throw after a 11 week boot camp, and I can’t get a basic Hip throw or a forward roll work good after a month of class?! I think it is training time, they spend more time training. The average martial arts class is only 4-6 hours a week, not counting extra time. Warp- I don't follow you...
  20. I get into a bunch of little skirmishes. Where I live, if they rednecks here you are in any kind of martial art, they line up to test there skills. lol
  21. I understand it is just Korean Jujitsu. I heard they have a little more striking then JuiJitsu.
  22. Our Studio, like many other building in this area, is a tin building. So in the summer time, we are training in an Oven in the Texas heat! Even with 2 box fans, we are burning up! And it is a great work-out, training in the heat. Just be sure to drink lots of water, before, during, and after class.
  23. Lifting is good, but you need to pratice form. That is the most important, lifting is just to supplament this. I'd suggest working all your muscle equally. If you only work the muscle that are important, you will risk developing a muscle imbalance, and that can lead to injury! Just find a boxing or Kick Boxing weightlifting program, and use that.
  24. Hey, now lets not scare the poor guy… to late. lol, Go see a doctor. Have you ever had Asthma? It could be that. Or just a misplaced rip. What kind of art do you do?
  25. sansoouser- Interesting. The BBM actricle never said a thing about the Judoka's boxing training, they only told us about Savage's Judo training... uh... I wonder why...
