Yeah, MMA has it limitations. MMA is a sport, nothing more. It isn't a style, That is why it is MIXED Martial Arts. A Karateka and enter, a Judoka can enter, a Boxer can enter, etc, etc. It can't be the most complete art, it isn't even a style!

Sobe is GREAT tasting (Dragon fruit rules), but it is mostly sugar, the amount of herbs and such in it aren’t nearly enough hot do much good. The Snapple Drinks, I forget what they are called, they are much better for you, and give you a better lift.

I still have my doubts that he was shot! The industry is all about gimmicks. All the big names have a gimmicks of some kind. Brittany Spears, the “virgin”, Rage Against the Machine were "Communists", it is all to get people attention, don’t matter if it is true or not, if they don’t have something to catch the publics eye, they are soon forgotten, no matter who good they are.

lol, it is hilarious! I’m a big fan of the older stuff, but all Metallica has done for the past few years is bitch and moan! The had one album come out recently, that is about it. They Whine about this, they whine about this! I’m sick of hearing their asinine dribble! Personally, I’d rather have my name be associated with the over throwing of a ruthless Dictator over some silly “political squabbles” over MP3s, which is a hope cause anyway!

grappling big and small
Tibby replied to StoneSkin's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
The short strong guys always have an advantage, the only problem is, many of then don't know how to sue there height to work for them. Most of them try to fight at the heigh of the taller fighting, and they lose a lot of power. And on the ground, lighter is better. Just anyother reason to go to class. A good teacher will show you how to use your height to your advantage. -
If you have those friends around, who have been in Martial Arts for a while, it is better then nothing. Like Kumite988 said, be willing to drive 30 minutes! That is what I had to do for my Karate, for like a year or 2 before I found a good school in town. Check your local college, some of them have classes, that will atleast give you a foundation. Call some gym's in town, some of them may offer Kick Boxing for Boxing. The Cops and Firestations sometimes offer boxing and other martial arts, or self defence classes., give them a call and check.

TV extras
Tibby replied to Black Dragon's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
That would be such an awsome job. My drama teachers husban in high school got beat up my ChuckNorris on Walker: Texas Ranger. He has an Agent. Just take a few Stage fighting classes at your local college, maybe take some stunman training if you can find it, and get an agent. Most of the time, you will start out as a "stun actor" a Stunman plays a charactor when he is doing something pretty dangerous. A Stunactor plays a charactor who's whole role is to do a stun, like a big fight seen. But, that is about all I know about it, maybe someone here has been a geust thug, and can tell us how he got into it. -
AND Barney music, "I lvoe you, you love me" Hey, whatever works, right? lol Wasp, I don't know, bro, Where will he go? The other Arab nations hate him more then they hate us because they feal he didn't put up a good enough fight, lol. Remimber those news reposts when we first took Iraq? They where like "Well, we still hate America, but Saddam fought like a puss!" lol

Damn, where do you train!?!?!?
-
Do you count Kempo/American Karate...
-
But what if you just had to pick one for some reason?
-
He isn't bad. It's the most original rapper in the world, he sounds like everyoen else, but he isn't half bad, and his songs are good for training too.

In Karate, 40 a month for 3 class max a week, but you only had to go to 2. Jujitsu, 60 a month, with 2 classes a week, and as many informal classes we can weasel out of the Assitant Sensei.

Judo for self defense
Tibby replied to broomhilda000's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Yeah, the Kodokan book says the use strikes, but most Judo schools don’t teach them. Judo mainly works with Throws and ground work. If a lot of your fights are close, and/or on the ground, they yeah, judo is good. But you might want to get into Boxing are Kick Boxing, just to get a good base for striking. -
Bodyscissors vs. The Guard
Tibby replied to grapplerboy's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Things I can do when you put me in the Scissors: 1. Use you leverage you are giving me to choke you 2. Get a little ground-and-pound in 3. Put you up and drop out hard on your back, and maybe your head or neck. Not only will it hurt, but in Judo, that will give me a point 4. Stand up, turn around, and pull the classic Boston crab. 5. Put pressure on the groin 6. Put pressure on the abs 7. Put pressure on your legs 8. Because you have no legs to stabilize you, I can roll you over, sling yo around, and/or do any number of things. My 2 cents. -
And you know he is pissed now, we got both of his boys.
-
Yeah, for a good school, that is a good deal. Not the greatest rpice, but good. Don't go over $60. As for the Belt, normally 3 years is a good range. WOrk REALLY hard, you can get it in 1 or 1 1/2, slack off, it could take as long as 5. It really depends on you and your school.

Sumo vs. Other arts
Tibby replied to StoneSkin's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Shorin Ryuu- Yeah, it was fun. Maybe we can lock hones again soon. sansoouser- Yeha, some of those guys are fast. Get a fast enough judoka with descent strength in there, I think he might do well. Movements and such are so similer, as I said before, if the JudoKa had some power behind his moves, it would be an interesting match to watch. -
Take what you can get. If you get an opening to kick, kicK! If you have a good grip and are ready to throw, throw! As tokeabowl said, you might end up on the ground if you throw, so try to, when fighting 2 people, put there bodies together, so you can throw them as one. I sensei do that wil like 4 of us at once, it is crazy, and it works! You're 2 busy fighting eachother to fight him, lol.

For real, I do the same thing. -
does your karate gi mess u up in ur training ?
Tibby replied to MawashiGeri60's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In Jujitsu, it happens all the time, and it gets annoying. In karate, my teachers wasn't Very Formal when not at a Tournaiment for Rank exam, so we would end up taking off our jackets and just wearing tee-sirts in drills. If it really bothers you, tie those strings on your Gi together, sometimes that helps. Also, As GMChen said, just learn to ignore it. -
Was that, by chance, a pun? What do you mean by "Training" in it? Do you mean at a school, or on your own? If you are looking for book so yo ucan train on your own, I'd advise against it. You need to get into a school and learn Martial Arts properly.

60$ a month for 4 lessons? What a rip? Are you SURE that is correct? How long is the lesson? Many schools cost between 40-60, but a lot of them have alteast 2 classes a week! That doesn't sound right at all, you might want to double check. Maybe you should go to a class one night, and see how they train, see if the money is worth it! Sometimes, 60 may be worth it, but that better be one hell of a class! I'd advise giving the School and call and seeing about sitting in on one of the classes. Yes, karate would be a great thing to do. It will teach you to "fight" and it will teach you displine. I live in a town likes yours, one Martial Arts school, the only one on 30 miles. Some of those Backwood Studio's are great palces to learn. Relaxing... well, it is enjoyable, if that answers you question. Now, what do you mean by "the flow"? Are you referring to Meditation and Estern Philosophy? Yes, most school have it. Many of them don't force you to do it, but they will have it.

It is kind of hard to get what your taking about, but it sounds like you could just wiggle right out of it. Try getting into a full mount. If you can’t, just them in a side quarter hold. If that still doesn’t work, put a choke on him. There are plenty of things you can do in this position. From what you described, it sounds like a pretty sloppy hold he has you in. Seems like you are the one with the upper hand.
