  1. its 2 grams of protein/bodyweight.. so if you way 64kg.. I would say do about a 100 to 150 grams a day..
  2. Hey.. I am not in the pressure points stuff , what are zoku , inazuma ,etc ? they are the names given for the weak spots on the ribs.. I wasnt into the Pressure Point stuff either, I was really skeptical and didnt even believe they worked... they do, there are lots of points but I think only 30 of them are effective? I think??.. look at your funny bone for example? that feeling you get when you hit it, your actually hitting your Ulnar nerve.. and there are point like that on your head, chest, neck, arm and legs.. but you will get a different reaction for some.. some may KO you, make you lose the color in your vision temporarily, or make you go limp with out actually losing conscience.. kinda scary actually and sometimes can be dangerous to play with. but Kyusho can be a great way to add to your arsenal..
  3. have you ever heard of the the "redman" test? that is really fun! and is a good training tool..
  4. you found yourself a good one mate!!
  5. actually there is a couple of Kyusho spots on the ribs..the Getsuei, Zoku, Inazuma and Karishita.. doesnt have to be a vein or artery..
  6. you can practice nothing but defensive moves.. just practice waiting on your opponent to move in for the point, and then strike.. that may help?
  7. good job on the tourneys.. but, you have to try to believe in yourself.. I know that sounds original but its true.. I want to you to think about this, if someone who is intent on hurting you, look at that person, what makes that person so scary?? probably nothing.. in fact they dont even know you are a karateka. you really have to have faith in your skill.. if you hit that person, it is going to hurt, their not made of steel.. they bruise and bleed and feel pain just like the rest of us.. hope this helps mate. read my quote.
  8. you must have faith in yourself first, and your skill.. if you hit them, they bleed just like you, and the rest of us.. your making the enemy out to be like some super human.. everybody has a weakness(s).. your first mistake is telling yourself that your a frightened rabbit.. so dont!!
  9. yeah, I train myself to control it.. train to control it enough that all the thousands of times I have done the techniques have become part of instinct.. I also believe that no one can completely take it away entirely, I always tell myself and the students in the class to have faith in their skill, really have faith in it.. it has helped my in every tournament.. not some. every one of them..
  10. Could this be due to the fact that the other people in the class will be heavier than he is? Or does he just like to teach adults? he rather teach adults.. he is a retired Medical Director of a Hospital, he doesn't need the money.. just teaching cause he loves it.. and his teaching is kinda in the rough area.. he told me from the begging that nothing will never be better than the real thing..
  11. 3-18-08 Back workout: dumbell row warmup 65x12 dumbell row- 85x10 85x10 80x10 shrugs- 300x12 300x10 barbell vertical row- 180x10 180x10 180x8
  12. That is the Number 1 reason why I train.. help control fear, and to fight when I need to...
  13. I would say the quality is very good. At least from my perspective. well if it is a real traditional Kodokan school I am sure it is very good quality, for some reason Judo schools aren't as high as the striking schools that I have came across? ask him how many throws that he teaches in the school? if it is 40, than it is a Traditional school, if it is 67, then it is the Kodokan, if it is 99, then it will be the "sport" style of Judo... Good Luck mate
  14. yeah that is what i was thinking too...
  15. And one more thing! Your probably gonna be the few who actually deserve the black belt status! I cannot believe she acted like that.. it makes BB's look bad! okay im done yelling... Good luck mate..
  16. she was probably upset cause you gave her a run for her money while sparring.. if I was your instructor and we was sparring and you got me square in the nose, even if I still got you.. I would have congratulated you, thats the point of sparring isn't it? sometimes you get a bruise here and there.. for her to act this way is immature... this is what angers me so much is that SO SO SO many schools will just give you the belt for making the monthly payment.. I say you did a good job for apologizing! do you know how much I payed for Kodokan? 30 dollars.. thats it.. my instructor is japanase/american and he was a Medical Director at a hospital and retired at like 45, so he doesnt need the money... and throughout all the training I think he should have payed me for all the bruises I got!! but its part of training and I dont regret it even a little bit.. you did good for saying your sorry... I am not saying you should quit just yet, but the choice is yours.. good luck mate..
  17. if it was in the lower ribs he may have hit a kyusho target...
  18. you cant be serious??
  19. true, but it makes it slightly harder cause you are trying to perform the armbar also why doing the wrist "control"...
  20. I have done it only a few times but, it does work, but you gotta do it fast cause the opponent is going to be moving and wiggling like crazy!
  21. I agree but, also kinda disagree cause if I needed to defend my self I would throw rather than a take down cause the opponent is going to the same place, the ground, and with a throw, sometimes its enough.. I assumed you was talking about a self-defense situation since you mentioned the word "violent"..
  22. Disturbed, Godsmack, Earshot, Breaking Benjamin, Ten years... I like to picture my self around 20 guys when I am listening to music and take'em all down!
  23. yeah, that wouldn't fly at all in my class.. I would set him down and tell the student about how he should act in the dojo.. like Bushido said, it is getting so bad that other students are actually leaving?? sometimes you just have to be the "mean guy" and show him the door .. hope this helps mate..
  24. I have heard that you can get a tire. fill it with air, put a psi gauge in it and punch the tire? I haven't ever done it, but is seemed somewhat logical.. kinda strange though
