  1. YOu should look around at the local schools and pick one you feel most comfortable with. If you are doing acrobatics that will help you. As for your size that is why Martial Arts are so great... Most of them were develped by people who were small so they usually are geared towards smaller people. Welcome to the forums... Pete
  2. Pretty cool stuff....
  3. Hahaha I'm the car I drive. A totally modified and tricked out supercharged Mustang Cobra. 500 hp. fast, powerful, and aggressive. Pete
  4. Sorry to hear about what happened. Don't sweat it though cause accidents do and will happen. I've injured my share of people over the years but it is unfortunately part of the game. Don't feel guilty. Send him a card and get on with your training. Don't let it hinder your training though. Do things just as hard as you did before this. Pete
  5. Place your nonkicking hand against a wall and raise your kicking leg. using the wall for support practice your hook kicks VERY slowly. This will build the muscles needed for the hookkick and also create muscle memory. Use this for hook, round, and side kicks.
  6. Well you get power from speed so I would def. say speed.
  7. If you don't drink tons of water while on creatine you will dehydrate big time... Pete
  8. If you are already training in one style and have a solid foundation then a book can help you. If you have no experience and expect to learn from books and videos... Forget about it....
  9. WEll there are no rules in streetfighting so any style should have all the tech. you mention.
  10. I used to train for deep stances but now I use a more upright stance. It gives more mobility. You sacrafice a little power but gain the ability to move faster. Pete
  11. They are totally to blame. Every person is responsible for his or her actions. There are other ways to deal with bullies.
  12. "WE" Americans like to do things professionally!!!! PERIOD!!!
  13. I am thinking that I might not even put my name on the patch. The idea about abrv. the name is a great idea. Maybe I'll keep Withers at the top and in the bottom block put M.A.A. in it. That might work. I'll try setting it up tomorrow and reposting it here. Pete
  14. I used to compete in open musical forms. I would use techno music because it has a fast beat which worked best with my form. Pete
  15. I had to pay $200 for mine when I tested. Kind of a rip off but I guess you have no choice... Pete
  16. I am def. a dragon.... hehe Plus I was born year of the dragon...
  17. I agree with kids getting blackbelts. My instructor wouldn't promote me to blackbelt until I was 18. If I was with anyone else I would have gotten it by 15 but I had to wait. I'm glad that I did because it meant so much more to me. As for getting a blackbelt in 6 months, well I've never heard of that. If you can get it that soon then that is so wrong. 6 months makes you still a beginner.
  18. My suggestion would be to check out all the schools in your area and find the one that looks the most appealing. The instructor will make all the difference. If you see a school that interests you then try it for a year or so. If that doesn't work after a year then try something else. Pete
  19. YOu are right because a TRUE Martial Artists learns from his mistakes and defeats. I've lost many many torn. and just used them as stepping stones. When I would lose I would just go back to the dojo and train even harder. That way it would be harder for me to lose. Pete
  20. It would depend on the person holding the knife. If he was trained or not would prob. determine the outcome of the fight. However, if I was carrying my handgun I would def. say he'd be dead meat... Pete
  21. I will be making a patch of it also. I was thinking the same thing with putting my name inside the triangle. I haven't decided how I am going to do the patch yet though. Pete
  22. Thanks... So far almost everyone likes it. That is def. a good sign. I'm going to make the guy a little bigger but I think that is all. Pete
  23. Pat Morita is a Hox though. However, Fumio Demura did the stunt work for him. That is pretty cool. I also heard that someone tried sueing the makers of that movie for using the Miyagi name. Don't know how much truth is behind that though.
  24. You should start learning them after a few months of training. Don't worry if it takes longer. Make sure you get your basics of unarmed self defense first.
  25. That movie was great... I've seen it a billion times. That was back when Van Dam was actually worth watching.
