I highly doubt you have had more training in handguns than I have. I can almost guarantee it... More people are killed in automobiles than any other means and esp. through drunk driving. Should we not be allowed to drive either?
-
There are already so many laws in place. You know all these useless statistics. Just know that there is a handgun for every man wonan and child in this country. I would feel much safer knowing that lawful citizens are carrying them. My guns are locked up when I'm not using them. It is people like you who are so scared of handguns that have prob. never even been to a range. At every firearms range I've ever been to the people are just like Martial Artist and are VERY polite, nice, and helpful. Again, these are lawful gun owners like myself. You make it sound like guns are the killers but again it is People who kill people. If you keep this topic going we will argue tooth and nail cause I will NEVER EVER agree with any of your beliefs on this and I'm sure you are the same with mine.

What about all the law abiding citizens who save their lives each year from the thugs out there. So that doesn't account for anything. Again, if you want to kill yourself you don't need a gun. People kill people not guns!!!

How can you regulate illegal weapons? if you want to kill someone and you don't have a gun you can still kill them. So should we ban knives, swrords, cars, and everything else that can kill someone? I didn't think so.... We should also ban karate cause there are techniques that can kill people
-
If you ban firearms the criminals will still have them so crime will not decrease.

Well I have 16 years of martial arts experience and I'm in incredible shape so that isn't an issue. I also don't have low self esteem so that isn't one either. I would never use a firearm unless it was the absolute last resort. If I was being attacked by multiple assailants or someone with a weapon then you can bet I will use my firearm. However I would NEVER pull it if someone merely started an argument with me. I have a strong interest in firearms and I treat them with respect and don't go flaunting it at all. What I'm saying with this topic is that a firearm is the best weapon for self defense.

Bruce Lee vs Muscular bulk!
Withers M.A.A. replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Health and Fitness
In order to gain size (muscle mass) you need to lift heavy weights period. Will this make you a better fighter??? Of course not. You will def. get stronger but that will not make you fight better. Just because you are big doesn't make you tough. -
My brother has a 2001 Ducati 748S. It is yellow and is really sick. I had a Ninja ZX6 a few years back and hated it and haven't owned a bike since. Pete

I've used it when I was younger. Haven't now in about 8 years or so.

Iron Arahat- I totally disagree with EVERYTHING you said. First off Canada has WAY less people than the U.S. so that statistic doesn't work.... As a civilian I have access to the same training as law enforcement officials. Courses are offered that teach combat handgun techniques etc. Why shouldn't we be able to defend ourselves with firearms??? Also if it wasn't for average citizens owning firearms then we would be considered England right now because the Revolutionary war was won by citizens who owned firearms. As for banning guns... well Maryland has the highest handgun crimerate in the U.S. Well guess what??? They also don't issue liscences to carry firearms.... that tells you something. Also, England banned firearms completely and since they did their crime has increased DRAMATICALLY!!! The people committing crimes with handguns are not legal gun owners. In MA you need to take a safety course, interview with the police dept. and have an FBI background check done and if you have any criminal history you will be denied. Having passed all those requirement I deserve the right to defend myself and my family with my firearms... Have a nice day!!!

A bit of useless information is always useful... hehe -
You should give your body a day or so to recover. If you do abs everyday then try to target upper abs one day and lowers the following and obliques the 3rd. That will give each group a day or so to recover.

It would be a little impractial to drive around in a tank. I don't think you would be allowed. As for trained I mean just as a Martial Artist would train. Know the weapon inside and out, how to shoot it with accuracy and how to draw the weapon. I shoot in competitions where you are required to make a draw and shoot down steel targets. It's good practice even though not technically simulating a gun fight but it does help
-
Good point... It is a weapon you always have on you and it can always be loaded and ready to go.

"My god, that was a great workout - I'll still aching!"

Your body actually builds muscle while you are resting. If you work out today you damage your muscle. Over the next few days it repairs itself. This is when you build muscle. Pete -
If you had to pick...

Def. Ninjitsu esp. if they taught the stealth and weapons aspects. -
That is a very good point. I meant this topic to be about people who were properly trained with handguns and carry them legally. Not for the street thug who holds the gun sideways...

Bugei Katanas, wakisashis, and Tantos
Withers M.A.A. replied to Phantasmatic's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
Have you looked into Paul Chen katanas. They are way cheaper. I'm debating about one for myself but am unsure if the quality is really good. I'm thinking of buying a practical katana off ebay for $130 and if it is good buying a more expensive one. -
Try Ebay and do a search for Paul Chen katanas. These are hand forged and made the same way they were made in Japan. They average about $400 each but you can buy a practical katana for $130. Let me know if you get one and how it is. Pete

Just curious if people agree with me on this one. No weapon is as powerful or threatening as a firearm. I'm a firearms activist and I truly believe it is the best weapon for self defense. Does everyone agree with me?
-
I'm curious if anyone has any experience with these weapons and if so how good are they? Is the quality really good on them or is it just marginal? Are they well balanced and are the blades highly polished? Thanks, Pete

Ninjutsu
Withers M.A.A. replied to Joecooke007's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Good point about the fraud thing... Back in the 80's everyone wanted to be a ninja. I don't think there are many schools around that teach true ninjitsu. However, if you find one I highly doubt you will be learning the stealth arts and killing aspects of the system. Prob. just the self defense aspects. -
Welcome to the forums.... Hopefully we can help you as much as you can help us. Pete

If you're doing a front punch and your wrist is completely straight as it should be then when your fist is exteded your first two knuckles will extend farthest. Thus the main reason you hit with these knuckles.
