  1. ONe of my friends saw that in the movies and said it was the worst movie he ever saw. He said it was made in the 70's and put that new guy as a digital overlay. I'll rent it one it comes out on video but I heard the movie was terrible..
  2. I would say it is somewhat difficult to close the gap esp. against a kicker like myself. I won't throw a useless kick or one that leaves me open for a take down. I know how to trick people with one kick and when the fall for it blast them with another. Pete
  3. The problem with the one hit one kill idea is you put all your emphasis on one technique and if that doesn't finish the fight then you could be in trouble. We train to always have a backup and never to rely on one tech. to end the fight but rather multiple techniques and always having a backup plan. No one way is right it just depends on what is better or more practical for the person who is training. Pete
  4. My favorite form is def. my competition form- "Killer Instinct" That is the name of the form. It includes all the goodies such as a backflip (flashkick) 540 jump scissor kick (3 kicks in the air) and all the hand combos. Loads of fun...
  5. In Kenpo they are: White Yellow Orange Purple Blue Green Brown Black Pete
  6. That is a good one.... Scared the bageezis out of me... haha Pete
  7. Jet Li rules!!!! I would say he is somewhat the modern day Bruce Lee. He might not be as great a fighter but as far as skill goes he's amazing.
  8. Its funny cause I hadn't bought the magazine in about 4 years and just started subscribing to it again a few months ago. The magazine doesn't seem as good as it was years ago. It is a lot smaller and does have a lot of no holds barred stuff in it. I wish they would focus a little more on the open torn. scene because that is where a lot of the new talent is. Pete
  9. Well to be rated by a circuit such as Naska or Krane you first need to join their organization. Then they have a bunch or tornaments throughout the year. The larger the torn. is the more points you get for winning. You are allowed to use 20 torn. total I believe for your final ratings. So if you win 20 1st places at a National event you have a better chance at rating higher at the end of the year. So in order to be national champion you need to win multiple national torn.
  10. It doesn't have to be anyone famous at all. If it is your sensei then tell us his or her name and tell them why they are your favorite martial artist. Pete
  11. I don't want to just have space when I open. I want to have enough equipt. to get things going. I think if potential customers come into my school and see I don't have any equipt. then they will be turned off. I have most of my equipt. already and will be buying a few more odds and ends but I'm just trying to see what everyone here thinks I should buy. Pete
  12. Who is your favorite Martial Artist and why? Mine would have to be John Valera. For those of you that don't know him he competed for many years in Naska and was almost unbeatable. He was a forms and weapons competitor and was very humble. He didn't need to do gymnastic moves to win just highflying Martial ARts moves and thats why I think he was the best. His movements were so precise and so fast and powerful. He was amazing to watch.
  13. I'm curious who competes on this forum. Are you a fulltime competitor or just compete occasionally? ARe you on a team? Do you follow a particular circuit or just do random tornaments?
  14. I'm just curious who here subscribes to Blackbelt Magazine. What do you think of this mag? What other magazines do you read?
  15. I think the bottom line is that people have WAY too much time on their hands to be folding dollars. I've seen that before and I will admit though it is weird.
  16. Can't we kick TigerKorea off this forum. He's obviously an ignorant 10 year old who has nothing better to do but to brag at how bad a Martial Artist he is. We all know he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag and can't spell simple words to save his life. Tiger Korea do you ride on the small bus??? hahahahahahahahahahahaha
  17. I would love a Kimber 1911 .45 cal. handgun... hehe But would also love a Bugei hand forged Katana...
  18. I've seen people skip ranks before but i disagree with it. I personally however, skipped a few stripes on my green belt but that was only because my instructor chose to keep me at that rank for 3 years. So he felt I had long passed the point at which to test for the stripes. Pete
  19. The kick is a jump scissor kick. I'm glad the general consensus is positive. I may change things a bit but this is for the most part the way it will look. Pete
  20. I put a white border around the guy in the middle which makes him stand out more than the last version. I tried it a few other ways and didn't like it as much. I did one without the white lines but it didn't look too good. Pete
  21. Start with the bo because it is the most basic and most practical. Everyone can find a stick to pick up. If done properly the bo can be very flashy. Good luck, Pete
  22. Well hopefully this image will load... I've updated my logo from what I previously posted. I'm most definately going to use this exact logo except maybe make the guy a little bigger. The triangle represents Mind, Body, Spirit in one, the five components that make up the center of the triangle represent the 5 rules of the school. The 4 white stripes represent 4 of the 5 animals of the school. The white border around the triangle represents the fifth animal the dragon which encompases all the animals. The guy doing the kick is from a pic of me so that represents me. So let me know what you think of the new update and let me know why you do or don't like it. 23. I'm buying Zebra mats to do the entire floor. That way things will be a little safer and the flooring will be perfect and not too hard. I already have the rubber knives and they were only $2.00 each so no real money spent there. As for the hanging bags i won't buy any until I have the location. Depending on the layout of the dojo will determine if I have hanging bags or not.
  24. I will be teaching a combination of Kenpo Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and sport Karate. We basically do the Kenpo system with the Tae Kwon Do kicking and aerial kicking and gymnastics from sport karate. We also do a lot of realistic self defense techs., sparring, and weapons.
