I think a lot of it comes from stress at work. Nowadays work is so stressful and demanding that when people leave work they are just so wiped out they go home and crash. This causes them to be mostly inactive esp. if their job consists of sitting in front of a computer all day. Plus, with all the video games kids of this new generation don't go outside and play as much. Parents would rather their kids be inside and safe than being outside and doing activities. Exercise is something that needs to be done as a child so it becomes a way of life. Pete

As for the demo I will be doing an open house when I open or shortly after which I will pass out fliers and advertise in the local newspaper. During my demo I will offer people there if they sign up they will receive a free uniform, t-shirt and patch or a free 2 week program. During the demo I will speak of the benefits of M.A. and about our program. I truly believe with the quality of the students I already have I will attract many new students. I'm creating fliers right now to distribute throughout the city. My brother is building a professional website that will have tons of info on and will have a link to my personal email. Pete

Well I'm offering a cardio kickboxing class. One of the women I have to help teach that is one of my students who looks like Britney Spears. I also have a few other women who are beautiful to join that class. So that should help. We train VERY hard and I'm very demanding. I want quality students over quantity but I need enough at first anyways to pay my bills so the school will survive. Pete

I work at as a computer programmer for a printing company right now so all my fliers are gonna be free. We are working on one right now to pass out on every house in the town. Thanks for the great advice, any more???? Pete

Here is the deal. In August I will be opening my dojo. I'll need 30 students to cover my overhead. I have enough money to stay open for quite a few months but I need to enroll 30 students asap. What tips do you have in doing this? I have about 10 as of now but would like as many as I can as soon as I open. Thanks, Pete

Dumbells are good because they force you into lifting the entire weight with that one arm. However, if you're trying to bulk up you will need barbells because you can lift more weight that way and that is the only way to gain mass.

There are rules in competition. Point fighting may not be very realistic but it does help develop speed and acuracy. If you've ever been to an open torn. you would notice that the main attraction is the forms and weapons competition. That is where atheletes usually shine

To be the best you must train with the best.... If you are training with men who are bigger and stronger than you it will only make you better. Your defense will become much stronger. It may not be as fun but in the long run you will learn more.

His punching power is amazing... If someone can take his punch bare knuckle and still stand then they would have to be pretty insane. I t hink one solid punch from Tyson would end the fight. However, if he were to get tied up in a grappling situation that could be a different story. However, Tyson is EXTREMELY strong and could probably muscle his way out of most holds. Pete

I think they took it off the net. I wouldn't recommend seeing it. It will just give you way too much to think about and put images in your mind that won't do you any good.

This is where I think you are totally wrong. Tyson grew up a STREET FIGHTER NOT a boxer. He needed to be calmed down before stepping into the ring. So I believe Tyson would do EXTREMELY well in the UFC. If they could come up with $30 million maybe he would actually fight. Too bad they only offer chicken scratch so we'll never see it happen. Years ago Gracie challenged him to fight but again nothing came of it. Pete

As a firearms advocate I agree that martial arts and firearms do go hand in hand.

Tyson will win hands down. I don't like him as a person but he's a great fighter. Back when he was younger he had more fighting spirit but we;ll see if that is back

If you get the impression that the instructor is only looking for money then ask where the door is. Make sure you find somewhere they allow you to watch a class and pay more attention to the students than the instructor. If they are good then the instructor is prob. good. Pete

I'm just curious if anyone has seen the video clip online of his death and if so how bad did it upset you? I watched this and can't believe how barbaric people can be. I won't reveal the link that it is on cause I do not want to be responsible for childen viewing it. It is extremely horrific. The video shows them severing his head from his body and holding it up like a trophy. Makes you want to join the military to help fight for his justice. Pete

We would like to hear what the ladies have to say.... hehe This topic isn't meant in any way shape or form as a derrogatory post. I've been here for a month or two now and love it here. I will be here for a long time. I'm glad we've had some great debates with numerous topics. What I'm saying with this thread is that we need to put our thinking caps on to generate some new threads with great topics that will last for a long long time. Sorry if this came off as a negative thread but again that is not my intentions. Just trying to spark up some conversation. Peace :pony:
