  1. That movie was great!!!! I will def. buy it when it comes out on video. I wasn't crazy about the ending but they did that on purpose so they can make more.
  2. Welcome to the forums....
  3. Welcome to the forums...
  4. Crucio that wasn't too smart... hehe You're lucky that wasn't a gun or something. Always treat a weapon with respect no matter what it is. If it is a gun always handle it as if it was loaded, a sword that it can always cut you, a taser well you get the point. Pete
  5. A block is a block regardless if it is a parry or a solid forarm block. They do the same thing in stopping the punch of kick from hitting you. Pete
  6. I would skip aerobics all together. I would do a light warm up maybe on the tread mill with a fast walk then maybe a light jog. Just to warm up your muscles. I wouldn't spend more than 5-7 minutes on this. Then I would hit the weights. Decide what you want. Lift heavy with low reps to build bulk. Do more reps with lighter reps to get ripped etc. After your weight workout then you can hit the treadmill again. Studies have shown by doing running at the END of your workout you burn more calories. However, if you're doing Martial Arts training also you will get most of the aerobic and anarobic excercise from that. One thing also, DO NOT use the bicycle. It is a fact that by cycling you will LOSE flexibility. Cycling is one of the WORST exercises you can do if you're training in the Martial Arts for flexibility purposes. Pete
  7. Simple motto to train by: Train like you fight, fight like you train. That says it all.... Pete
  8. Well I train in Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo. I love the Tae Kwon Do for the kicking but it lacks in realistic self defense. I love kenpo for its hand techniques and self defense tech. but it lacks in kicking. Put the two together and you get the best of both worlds. Pete
  9. Since you have only recently started Tae Kwon Do training my guess is that your muscles are not strong enough for the movements you are doing. What to do about that? Very simple, listen you your body. If your hips hurt then take it easy. Try kicking with less speed and power and go through the motions. This will slowly strengthen your muscles without causing injury. Explain this to your instructor and if he is a good coach he will prob. tell you the same thing. Pete
  10. I use my legs more than my hands for the simple fact t hat my legs are longer and stronger and for me just as accurate. Pete
  11. I have been training for almost 17 years now and have NEVER washed ANY of my belts EVER!!! However, after 9 years with the same blackbelt I finally bought a new one. However, my original blackbelt was given to me by my instructor and this belt was HIS belt he receieved when he became a blackbelt. So the belt is prob. 16 years old at least. I am in the process of opening my own dojo so this belt will be put in a case and kept on my desk. Pete
  12. I believe the only difference is that Gung Fu is the Cantonsese translation as Kung Fu is the Mandarin translation. I'm not 100% correct on this but I'm pretty sure. Correct me if I'm wrong. Pete
  13. I personally have never smoked or even tried it for that matter. However, I do feel that any instructor should not smoke for the exact reasons you stated. As a Master esp. you should show restraint and strength in saying no to pressure of society. Pete
  14. I'm sorry I totally disagree with this 100%. In this country to get the death penalty you have to usually kill more than once. The media talks about this like he is an innocent person with a low IQ who doesn't know right from wrong. Well why don't they tell us exactly who he killed and the families he's destroyed. I'm a firm believer in an eye for an eye. If you kill someone they you should also be killed. Also, if I were to kill someone with this rediculous rule I would just play stupid. If given an IQ test I would fail on purpose that way I wouldn't be killed.
  15. You can train in an "Art" yet still compete with it as a "Sport." I do both... Pete
  16. I was curious if anyone knew of a website that showed the maintenance of a Samurai sword the traditional way. I have the kit but it doesn't have instructions. Of if not could someone describe this. Thanks, Pete
  17. Also, what do you want to kick high for? For fighting, forms? What is your main objective. The reason I ask is if you want a nice clean kick such as a roundhouse kick that is high for forms then you need to perfect the technique so that you are strong enough to place the kick where you want it to go and to be able to hold the kick for a split second before rechambering it. In forms you don't want to just snap a round kick out. However, in fighting you don't want to hold your leg out for obvious reasons. Pete
  18. If both of you are standing up you wouldn't want to bend over to punch someone in the knee. First off the knee is stronger than your fist and 2nd why would you want to bring your face close to his or her knee and foot. It will make a boot to the grill or knee to the ojo too easy. Pete
  19. Don't hate me cause you aren't me.
  20. That isn't the only theory on kicking that works. His system is great as I have read the book but some things I vary for the fact they work better for me. As for being able to kick high it is a fact that you don't need to be able to do full splits. I can almost kick 180 degrees straight up but can't get into a full strattle split
  21. Well I'm glad we can finally get along... I'm also glad you took my advice and are going to look both ways before crossing. I only post things when I'm bored at work or before I go to bed. Otherwise I'm out with my girlfriend, working on or racing my supercharged Cobra, going shooting, or hanging with friends. I'm glad you follow how many posts I have cause I thought I had too much free time... but obviously you have more... haha
  22. To say not to worry about it is ridiculous. I would call your doctor to discuss that just to be safe. Make sure if you start feeling that way again to stop what you're doing and rest. Pete
  23. Here is a good one to check out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2112660748
  24. Most of the blocks I do towards kicks are open handed perry blocks. I try not to do bone on bone blocks against kicks. Pete
