Very good points Don. To answer the question about why robbers are more likely to use a gun in a robbery. Well the answer is simple. Most robbers fear that a store owner or worker will be carrying a firearm. You say if we take guns away from average citizens then robbers won't need guns. Well I believe it is because people fear store owners are carrying that more stores are NOT robbed. If criminals knew stores were not armed at all then it would be much easier to rob them. My g/f's father was robbed years ago in his store and saved his life because he was carrying a firearm. So what you are saying he would have been better off being stabbed by the criminal than pulling his firearm and scaring the person and not being robbed? Hmmmm sounds like it was a good thing he was carrying.

Zin-Ju said "U aint gettin a reply" HUGH???? "their" I think you mean They're They Call Me Bruce and Zin Zu do you both come from the Ghetto? I can't understand anything you are trying to say. Your grammar and spelling are horrible. I think before you can chime in on this debate you need to either get an education or spelling and grammar check loaded onto your computer. As for being afraid of being shot.... I am not afraid of being shot because my chances of it happening in my lifetime are slip to none.

I don't carry a gun to impress anyone or to "feel cool" I'm sorry if you're a sissy and are afraid of them. Maybe you should take a trip to a range and shoot one before you make assumptions. How do you figure I'm a spoiled punk? You're an imature kid who is afraid of a firearm. I think I know how powerful a gun is esp. since I'm quite familiar with them. So if someone attacks me with a knife I'm suppossed to just hit him with my fist? That makes sense. YOu try that next time someone attacks you with a knife and I'll see you in the hospital.
-
Zin I think you are a bit imature for this debate. What Don was saying is that because these store owners had these weapons they were able to protect themselves and their property. I'm sorry but if I was attacted by a person carrying a knife and I was armed I would feel MUCH safer than if I wasn't. My Martial Arts would still come into play because I would have self control not to shoot unless that attacker proceeded to attack. It is the same story of a larger person attacking a BETTER fighter. THe larger person thinks he has the upper hand but the smaller person (say a Martial Artits) wins because he is better prepared. Everyone agrees with this but why not when it comes to firearms? It is the same thing.

I use my weapons for the main purpose of sport. I enjoy going to the firing range and shooting at targets. As for hunting I don't really so the point. You say it is to put food on your table. However, I find it much easier to go the the grocery store. That is how I put food on my table. I use my AR-15 and pistols for target practice. I occassionally carry a pistol but hardly ever.
-
Zin Zu you are so wrong. Since guns were banned in England the crime rate increased. If you knew anything about firearms you would know that an AR-15 is not an automatic weapon. It is semi-automatic like a pistol. So before you chime in thinking you know everything you should find out facts first. Yeah and I'm just a spoiled little brat.

Stating that people should not be allowed to use sawn of shotguns is rediculous. I personally own an AR-15 (dubbed an assault rifle by anti-gun activists to scare the uninformed public) and to say I have this gun for self defense or for killing people or even hunting is rediculous. I use this weapon SOLEY for target practice because it is a fun and relatively inexpensive weapon to practice with. The antigun activists are trying to ban these weapons stating that nobody needs one. Well, yes I don't "NEED" this weapon but it comes down to what people "WANT" Nobody needs a fast car but many people like myself 'WANT" one.

So what you are saying is that only police should be allowed to defend themselves with firearms?

I'm sure the guy who shot up LAX yesterday wasn't a LEGAL gun owner. However, thanks to a LEGAL gun owner this man was shot down and stopped lethally. So in this case a firearm stopped a crime before it became a mass murder. If the airport wasn't guarded with LEGAL gun owners this terrorist prob., not even an American citizen, would have prob. killed dozens of people. So see firearms are not all bad.
-
Noone has ever been killed by a firearm. I've never heard of a gun getting up loading itself and shooting a person. People kill people. A firearm may be a vehicle in which some people kill others but take that away and they will just use a knife, bat, or a car. Banning guns won't decrease crime it will only increase it. More guns will hit the black market and crime will increase. It is a fact. More punishement should be in place if you commit a crime with a firearm but banning them from people is rediculous.

I agree with you 100% Don Gwinn. I asked that very question and didn't get an answer. Martial Arts were originally designed to defeat others on the battle field. They evolved and became a means of self defense and self preservation. Firearms are the exact same thing but because of the medias portrayal of them the general public thinks they are evil. If these people spent just 1 hour at a gun range they would be amazed at how friendly the firearms population really is. Pete

AMC Special on Bruce Lee

Thanks for reminding me.... -
From what I was told they are illegal because back in the 70's the street gangs were using them and police couldn't stop them without using lethal force. Bruce Lee popularized the weapon so that it appealed to even nonmartial artists. As for Shuriken they are illegal because anything with more than one blade or edge is illegal. It isn't because people were throwing them at people but simply for this reason.

Well people need to realize that it is a video game and nothing more. It doesn't teach kids to go out and steal cars and shoot people. I personally wouldn't allow my kids to play it if I had any but I personally own the game and think it is a riot.

Bitseach I don't think you made any sense...

Bullets are indeed easy to make. Minus the powder and primer. You can cast your own bullet using lead. Casings are everywhere. No matter what laws you put in place the blackmarket will always be flooded with weapons. They are even trying to ban assault rifles such as AR-15's etc. Why? How many people are murdered by them each year? Hardly any... Same with the .50 caliber.

Someone I used to compete with had that tattoo around his calf. It looked pretty stupid in my opinion.

The cord nunchaku are better for the fact they are lighter, faster, and they won't bind like one with a chain. Most of the ball bearing swivel ones won't bind but the cord is usually your better bet. The chain nunchaku are however, a bit stronger.

Sin Style how old are you? You obviously know nothing about firearms or American History. It is because of firearms that we are the United Stated of America and we are a free country. It is because of the farmers and every day people that own guns that we are the country we are now and not England. But you obviously didn't study American Histoy. Also, why would you make bullets that don't fit a gun? If you knew anything about firearms you would know that you can produce your own ammo at home by what is called reloading. So if companies didn't sell ammo you could just as easily make your own. Most serious shooters already reload because it is cheaper and more accurate ammo. So before you state nonsens you should have somewhat of an idea what you're talking about.

Olympics has Kickboxing?

That would be great if it really is.... -
The only blindfolded training I've done is at close ranges in which you are performing sensativity drills. We don't train like they did in Bloodsport so there really is no need to fight while blindfolded. It's good for fantasy but not reality. Pete
