lead leg kicks are some of the best kicks you can have in your arsenal. mainly because it can be delivered so quickly and it can stop your opponant dead in their tracks i know some guys who are so good with their lead leg they dont even bother using their rear leg anymore

there are a few different styles of competition kickboxing thai kickboxing - where they allow fists kicks elbows and knees. you are allowed to kick to the legs and you have to be very tough to get into that style. the professional fighting span of most thai boxers is about 2-3 years mainly because their legs and knees cannot take anymore punishment, you are also allowed to catch your opponants kick if you can and start pounding their base leg with kicks if you like.......this art is one of the best striking arts out there full contact or american rules kickboxing - only fists and kicks are allowed and all kicks must be above the waist. legal targets are chest kidneys face stomach and the head there is also low kick divisions where you are allowed to punch and kick to the legs and K1 rules where you can use fists kicks (to the legs and well as head and upper torso) and knees. its pretty much thai kickboxing with no elbows

American Martial Arts
Prodigy-Child replied to muaythaidm's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
kenpo karate was developed in the states from what ive heard there is also american style jiu jitsu and kickboxing was started cuz american karate fighters wanted to use their techniques in a full contact platform i study the canadian style jiu jitsu and ive heard something about there being a british style of jiu jitsu and of course everyone knows about brazillian jiu jitsu and somebody on this thread said thAT judo orginated in the states which couldnt be further from the truth, it was developed in japan when Kano a jiu jitsu practictioner took all the dangerous elements away from jiu jitsu and made judo the way how judo came into the united states was cuz of american service men in the armed forces coming back from japan armed with all this knowledge of the martial arts -

I THINK TKD is more a sport then a martial art. the kicks are hard and very fast......i have first hand experiance because TKD is one of the first arts i started with back in the day but in a real self defense situation or street fight people are gonna try and get on top of you on the ground and pound your face in, a roundhouse wouldnt work too good in that situation, also in a real street fight people grab you by the neck, spit on you, and try to gouge your eye balls out ive never seen a fight (and i have seen quite a few) where two guys just stand their and exchange blows
