i was talking to one of my coaches the other day and he was telling me that a majority of boxing clubs in cuba dont have heavy bags. he was telling me that about 85-90% of their training is focus pad work. (that sounds like alot i know) this is cuz focus pad work allows you to work on the 3 crucial elements in one drill that you can get from 3 separate drills..... 1. power - that you gain from working the heavy bag 2. technique - that you gain from shadow sparring and regular sparring 3. simulation of fighting - that you get from sparring with other people with all the hours of focus pad work that cuban fighters do....no wonder they are such powerful fighters

yeah jiggy about that indian art you are talking about takes a long time to learn. when i visited my reletives in india i talked to a man who taught this art and he said that he i would have to train with him for about 12 years before he even started teaching me any of the pressure points

The Significance of Belt Colors
Prodigy-Child replied to TKD_McGee's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well in some clubs purple belt and all the other crazy colors are just buffer belts to break up the curriculum a bit more for $$$$ purposes and learning processes -

hey i just got back from orlando florida. i was fighting at the wpka north american championships and let me tell ya it was a great experiance! i fought my first full contact kickboxing bout which was awesome! im a junior (16 yrs) so we had 3 rounds of 1:30 and not to be bragging or anything but i destroyed my opponent! i TKO'd him in the 2nd round with only 10 seconds to go! now my coach is gonna set me up some more bouts in the coming months so ill be fighting more full contact! it was really nice to win because it got me out of my 1 year loosing streak that i was in for continuous (semi-contact kickboxing) i dont really think continuous is for me so i have made the decision to stop competing in continuous fighting. hope i didnt blab on and on!

that list is one big steaming pile of bullshit!

i dont think it is that great of a technique.......even when done properly i have seen many good fighters get knocked out while using this because they forget to cover their chin with their shoulder and i have gotten a few cuts and black eyes from this technique cuz people keep jamming their elbow instead of their fist into me

how do you people feel about the scoring system in olympic boxing? i tend to like olympic boxing more then regular pro boxing because olympic boxing tends to be alot cleaner and alot more technically oriented the mere fact that they have to score more points rather then looking more aggressive appeals to me because that makes alot more clean hits coming outta there what do you think?
