Are they leather? Or fabric? Depends on what material they are. I use antiseptic wipes on my leather focus mitts, and i cool wash my sparring shin and gloves.

Sometimes its worth letting it slide - I dont know if I agree you should approach your sensei - it sounds personal to me in which case needs to be dealt with outside of the club? Just my two cents.

I trained to 4th kyu, came back under the same club and have made my way back through the grades from 9th kyu, am one off where I started now. However this was my choice, partly due to the fact my step dad runs the club I felt I had to show others in the club that there is no favouritism, and out of respect to other 4th kyus in the club that I couldnt just walk back in and expect to be at their level. Am regretting it now mind, 2 knee injurys later I should have rejoined at my original level. It has helped me get up to speed quickly but ultimately it has been drawn out. We accept members of other Shukokai clubs at their grade if they can provide evidence of this. Members of other styles are welcome but they do generally start at 9th kyu.

I just think that sometimes they come too soon, everyone is entitled to their own opinion - terrible or not, but have a little respect at times, same day emails arent funny.

We have mixed grade classes primarily 2 nights a week. We have one beginner session which is up to 5th kyu. Any higher grade is welcomed in the class under the proviso they help instruct. This helps them inturn build their confidence for when they dan grade. We also have a senior class one night a week, again, lower grades are welcomed but understand that basics are not really gone into on these lessons. At the end of the day it doesnt really matter who has a higher grade - we all have things to learn from each other.

Andy its almost impossible to find self help videos directed at Shukokai - our club do inhouse dvds, maybe you should speak to your Sensei to see if they have any plans to do instructional videos or if he knows of any?

Also I can't believe the amount of joke emails I have had about this already - truly awful.

Well boys and girls the time has come - have got a date for my arthroscopy finally, 19th October. Still not sure if they are actually going to do any repairs while they are in there but we shall see. Anyone known of someone to have this? Any complications etc?
