Hi guys, had mine replace October of last year, wondered if anyone has had it done, and where there recovery is up to etc.. How long did it take you to get back to full movability at karate, and do you still have portions of your leg you cant feel? Im just at 6 months after the op now, the main problem is that as they replaced the ligament with two of my hamstring ligaments I have quite a substantial deficiency in the strength of my leg now, wondered how people got over this? Cheers guys x K

Ha ha I know a thing or two about long waits after knee ops, had a major one in October of last year and am just now getting back to the warm up stage (although not supposed to)... Definitely a good idea to keep going to watch, keep your finger in the pie so to speak, its extremely hard but you have to follow your docs advice... Mainly your physio too, Im lucky mine has been very understanding of my need to get back to karate so taylors my recovery around that partly. Talk to your physio and get as much advice as poss x

Good luck Kez, am sure you will do fine. Like you I left school at 16 after having my daughter, but got good GCSE grades. Luckily I have had good oportunities within my varous emloyments and Im now running the Accounts Dept - education ISNT the be all and end all - but in this day and age if you dont have qualifications to back you up you can get lost in the crowd. Am also going back to college in Sep to gain my Accounting Technician Qualification - joy of joys!!! Keep your chin up when it gets hard Kez - it will be worth it in the end

I just bought myself an 8GB iPod nano, and my daughter a 4GB pink one. The second generation type. I was trying to reist the power of mp3 players and I hate to say it - but its mad how something so small can hold my entire cd collection!!!

KarateK replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Chat
As the resident Forum funiest member (2006, takes a bow) I do love to share what jokes I find with the rest of y'all I probably post on general chat or games at moment. However when I see a topic I feel strongly about or actually know something about in Karate etc I like to share my opinion -
Hi guys - sorry if this is in wrong forum, but you know me Am about to start having a go at Kendo, found a school semi-local to me, and one of the guys I train with is coming along. I guess I am just querying what to expect on my first session. Also got a question with regards to my knee, those who know me know I now have no cruciate ligament in my left knee after a twist and fall at Karate last year. Am currently awaiting surgery but am still training. Do those in the know think this will cause me a problem? I have decided on Kendo after albeit a short taster session a visiting Sensei showed us some routines after a boken lesson. I was immediately hooked, am very into the traditional side of martial arts. Any thoughts, ideas etc very welcome

Good job too!! -
Its also a grading requirement for us that we can be asked any lower rank kata at any time - and also to progress to Black Belt you go through all kata in any order as per the examiners. Also how can you teach lower grades when you arent comfortable with their kata? Thats the be all and end all for me - being able to pass on my (granted somewhat limited) knowledge I have gained whilst studying karate, and obviously kata is a big part of this.
