Hi bodhost, we are a friendly bunch really x Welcome to KF - make yourself at home!
-
If you have the time and energy to commit to two styles then fair play to you - although I cant help but think that as you progress through the grades one style may slip slightly. I would have thought primarily training in one art and suplementing it with another would be more beneficial than equally training between the two?

Chorley - errrm............. Its near Manchester? And Blackpool? There's a nice canal near my house?

Now I understand what you mean Richard!! Yes we use this slightly in terms of blocks and strikes, for example like you said uchi uke, or kiketi. I do find thought that the kids in our class tend to get confused - its hard enough for some of them to work out where their arms should be, let alone manipulating the wrist etc also!

I think this is getting away from the help Makoto Jin was asking for guys X

Although start to worry if someone asks you to wear it at home

We have found ourselves losing members due to the students assuming that in four months they would grade - without actually putting in the time and effort. Sadly they were mistaken and as such do not grade, eventually this weeds out the less committed students.

I always feel like I am using my knee injury as an excuse - but thank you Kez - miss-straight talker you x -
Yeah this thread seems to have added to my insecurities about the horrific sight of me in my gi!!
-
For me it was actually reverse punch against a pad, for some reason just wasnt getting any force behind it. Then click, knocked my partner into the next century (well not quite but you get the idea).

I will admit to finding that somewhat attractive when its men involved though Angela!!

Naughty naughty shotochem!!

Hmm, would be too stereotypical to have Jin or Sun be an MA expert - maybe Hurley? Or Charlie?

Ok so round 2 last night, was rooting for Rudy (can see a pattern emerging here - I always go for the underdog). He put up a great fight, but I think on this occasion he was outclassed, had a lot of hear though. -
The gi uniforms you, so that you look past what you normally see when you meet someone for the first time, ie clothes, hair style, make up. You start to see personality over looks and that in turn attracts you more. Although from a womans perspective I cannot see how a guy would find us attractive in white pyjamas!!!

Am furious with myself, I dropped 6 marks from last grading, lost a point because I made face contact while sparring (with my best friend actually! I was sparring for her benefit, she's a lower grade - whoops!) I jarred my knee during the first section and it went downhill from there. My kicks were awful, as expected really due to my knee. I thought my stances and kata etc were ok so wasnt surprised at getting the average grade. Anyway its done now so just got to move on. Am taking a break though as I think I pushed my knee to far too quickly, I had literally about 6 lessons to get ready for grading. After they read out my marks I went to the toilet and had a good old cry! I actually came 2nd in the overall grading for my level but was just appalled by my marks. One sensei did come up to me and just said that I did remarkably well considering I was on crutches 2 months ago. I also know that as my mum and her partner were two of the examiners that I do get marked down as a result of not showing favouritism - so I tend to have to work doubly hard to get good marks. And yes we are going to Seni next year - have pursuaded a few of the guys to go a long so we can car share. Should be great. -

Watched ep one last night - was just about to say the same thing. In S2 Sly watched the fight with Sugar Ray didnt he? Was nowhere to be seen last night? Maybe its just me but there don't seem to be as many "characters" as last series. -
Yeah maybe - am still open to new styles, in my area though we are quite restricted
-
I feel lost without my Lost fix - I was in a routine with life, tv etc so that I knew when it was on. Now I find myself missing eps, or tuning in half way through. I think I need rehab - do you think there is such a thing as Lostaddiction??
