  1. My new instructor does some. But she said that I should figure out some bunkai on my own (best way to learn). I figured some out, but I haven't worked bunkai in a while.
  2. I'll be 32 on the 19th. So I'm kind of close to ya in age, Matt. Happy birthday.
  3. I agree with Kez. If you do train, take it slow. Don't push yourself hard. It's better to just stay home, though, and nurse yourself back to health. I hope you feel better soon.
  4. I use Frontier net (local phone company) for emails from family and close friends. I use hotmail for junk mail LOL.
  5. Thanks Kez. I'll have to give it a try.
  6. Cool thread. Can I do the same. My dad died in 2004. I have his birthdate, and his obituarie and where he was born. Can I go from there? Otherwise, I've been stuck. I know nothing about his dad, so I don't know my family members on his side. I need help.
  7. Hehehehe. We are "live" friends but we keep in touch by internet, bud. That will change though. I'll see ya wednsday
  8. Hey bushido_man96, I'm thinking about ya. My sister in law went through this thing where she drank this stuff, and gave her the poops for two days so they can check her colon. She couldnt eat or anything. I hope it wasn't anything like that. She was so sick from it. If this is what it was, I feel for ya. Nasty stuff. I hope you feel better soon.
  9. I got a 24%. Wow. I thought it would have been higher. But it didn't mention PC games LOL. Here's what it said for me, "Internet? Please. You're definitely not geeky enough to be that addicted. You have a full life off your computer - and the internet is just a small pastime." I used to be worse about being online. Chat on Yahoo, many forums, searches, ect. But I just mainly chat here now, use google to search for recipes and play puzzle games. That's about it.
  10. Cool. Next time we come over, we can crack open a few cold ones and play Golf. That would be cool. Mike knows how to play it, right?
  11. Oh yea. I forgot Uno. Another one of my favs. Thanks ashworth
  12. Hiya all. The board game thread gave me an idea. What is your favorite card game? My favorite is kind of unusual. It's called "Golf" but it has nothing to do with golf LOL. You play with two decks of cards. All the cards are face value, except the joker, the king, jack, and queen. The joker is minus 2 points, and the king is 1 point. The jack and queen are 10 points. The object of the game is to get the lowest points possible. You play with 6 cards face down. Flip two at the start of the hand, and go from there (trying to discard the high cards). If you get two of the same cards (like 2 queens), it's 0 points. You have to keep score for 9 games. Then add them up. Whoever get s the lowest score wins. A friend showed me how to play this game. It's addicting!
  13. I used to play Monopoly a lot as a kid. But I don't play many board games now. My boyfirends family is really big into board games, though. I like card games more.
  14. Bummer I'm so depressed now. Well, keep me updated on Swain, bud.
  15. Heidi, it snowed here yesterday! And it stuck. YAY! Good sign. It's suposed to snow again tonight, but we'll see. I hope it snows a lot, so I can finally snowboard Is Swain making snow still? What trails are open?
  16. Right now, it's General MA and General chat. I used to go into (well still do) the Korean arts forum, but it's kinda slow lately. I used to be a mod here, so I went to all of them, but not now.
  17. No I'm not injured now. That was 5 years ago. Eventhough I still have problems with my left knee and hip now and then (I injured those at work a year or so ago, not from showing off). But thanks I recovered from all the injuries pretty good. I calmed down a lot since then (I got older too LOL).
  18. When I was in TSD, this kid at work (well about 20 years old) found out I did MA. He came at me with a box knife. I evaded the stike, grabbed his knife hand and side kicked him in the ribs. I didn't hurt him, but it was enough to tell him "that wasn't cool, dude." Another case of showing off was in class. It was when I had just moved to NY a month or so before. I had already gotten my yellow belt in TKD (my instructor was advancing me fast to where I was in TSD). I knew I wasn't a beginner. And my technique was better than most in that class (it kinda went to my head). Well, I decided to do flying side kicks to the heavy bag in open class (we used to do this in class in TSD). Then a couple others wanted to try it. So I showed them. They kept doing it low, so I kept going higher (showing off). Then I went to do it again, and my foot hit the bag, but my knee went the wrong direction. I fell on my butt, and I was out for two weeks. Another wasn't my fault (well may be). We were doing breaking in class (it was breaking week or something). I did my breaks pretty good (I was a yellow belt green stripe by then). Then one of the black belts said "Try this one." He gets up on a chair and holds the board above his head. "Do jump axe kick." I almost didn't do it. But he said "You were in another MA. You can do it." By this time people were watching. So I did it. Big mistake. I jumped, did the axe kick, heard a "rip", landed and balled up on the floor. I ripped my hammy really bad. It took 5 months to heal. I did break the board though. I haven't done any showing off since. Now I can't do those things anymore because of injuries (I hurt my other knee at work and hip after that). That's what I get for showing off.
  19. I was born in Mt. Holly NJ (Burlington County area).
  20. We have various weapons, belt racks for both my honey and me (he has one. I have two for TSD and TKD), and various MA books, which some don't belong to us. Heidi was nice enough to loan them to us and they are really good reads. I also have everything from my TSD dojang (my first art). My first uniform, first broken board, certs, belts, student manual and even the schedule for classes, which to this day, remain the same. Those are the most special to me (all my "firsts" and they mean a lot).
  21. I started when I was 24. It seems like yesterday.
  22. I'm waiting for someone to say that they have a mullet hehehehehehe
  23. I tried once or twice for my dad's side. But I know nothing of his father, and I can't find much info. Plus my dad passed on a couple of years ago, so there went the little info he had. My sister traced the family back on my mom's side. Plus my grandmom has a wealth of info for her side. It's great to sit and listen to her talk about the family (old and young, past and present).
  24. Yea, you're right. But money is tight, so I gotta suffer for now.
