  1. That drink sounds refreshing
  2. OMG!! That sounds yummy. Lot of work, but it looks worth it. Meatetarian? Can I steal that term for my carnivore boyfriend? Well, I can't actually pick on him. He eats what I cook. Sometimes it's vegan and sometimes it's not (for me it is vegan. For him, not always. But he eats it, even if he doesn't know it's vegan hehehehehe ). We HAVE to trade recipes now, lordtariel! So far, your recipes sound so yummy.
  3. Cool. Are you vegetarian, too (I'm vegan ... if you haven't noticed yet)? If so, GIVE UP MORE RECIPES darn it!
  4. Nope. I didn't. I never skiied in my life. I heard that snowboarding is easier to learn, but like I said, I never skiied, so my opinion wouldn't count.
  5. I have tons of recipes. Is there anything you really want, marie? I have everything from soups, asian food, meat recipes and vegan food. lordtariel, that sounds really good (except the meat and cheese). My next task is to learn to cook mexican, so that recipe would work. I have one chili recipe: Beanless chili (for those that get .... ummm "gasy" with beans like I do). It's vegan, but you can modify it by using real meat. 1lb vegan meat crumbles (or ground beef for you meat eaters) 2 cloves garlic minced (I use more. I LOVE garlic) 1 large onion diced 2 tablespoons chili powder 1 teaspoon of dried oregano 1 teaspoon ground cumin Hot pepper sauce to taste (optional) 1 28oz can of crushed tomatoes Since the vegan version doesn't have real meat in it, I just throw everything in a stock pot and let it cook on low heat until thick and yummy (about 20 to 30 minutes). But for you meat eaters, I would brown the meat in a skillet first, then throw it in the stock pot. You can add a little bit of water if you like it on the thinner side.
  6. I watched some of those videos. Some were good, but one or two of them dropped their hands while kicking! That drives me and my instructor NUTS! Anyways, the posts above are correct. About the walking stance, though. It is like "walking," but your knees should NOT be locked. They should be relaxed and bent slightly.
  7. hehehe yes he is
  8. Well this isn't that funny, but it was to me at the time. I was taking my 1st gup test with my mom and one of my friends watching that day. For some reason my friend kept making me giggle just looking at her. I messed up one form ... got away with it. I messed up another one because I couldn't hold back the giggles anymore. I got caught. I had to do my form alone infront of about 80 people (testers and on-lookers). We both turned red. She did stop making me giggle after that. I did pass.
  9. Happy belated Mother's day to all. I don't have kids, but I do have a "fur-child" as I call him (my dog). He is a spoiled brat, too LOL. But he is well behaved
  10. Cool! Another snowboarder!
  11. Same here. I perfer the dojang. But I only train two days a week. Now I'm helping my instructor (with the kids classes), so that might be limited, also (except for the adult class). I try to train at home. But, like DW, I get distracted by other things. My training usually lasts about ten minutes, then it's time to clean or cook, or do yard work, ect.
  12. I have days like that, too. They drive me crazy, and drive me to try to sharpen up. Cool. I'm not the only one. I just called my instructor. She's doing good. All is well, so far, for next week. That makes me happy. I'm glad she is in good spirits
  13. I never liked sparring. Even after I got used to getting hit. But yet, I always go all out during self defense. Or at forms, ect. But my instructor now put a different "spin" on sparring. She has these cool drills that, as jaymac mentioned, is to get out of the way, and counter. I'm enjoying it a little more lately.
  14. Nice post, a_ninja Wow! Last Tuesday's class was hard. I don't know why. I felt like a total noob. I should have been wearing a yellow belt, not my red. It was just one of those days where nothing went or felt right. BUT I have a week off, because my instructor is having surgery. So I'm going to practice my butt off for next week!
  15. I agree. Everyone is different. One might learn faster than the next person. Or... like neclos, I've been training for 6 years and I'm not a BB yet (moved and switched dojangs a couple of times).
  16. When I first started, I didn't know about the different styles and things like that. All I knew was what I saw in the Karate Kid movies. I knew what a "dojo" was from the first KK movie. So I went looking. I looked at a few places. But my TSD dojang just "felt right." So I joined. The rest is history.
  17. Hey all. I'm getting siked about spring now. We had a snow storm here in the north eastern US earlier in the week. It gave me a chance to snowboard again, but I'm ready for the warm weather. It's supposed to be warm tomorrow, so my honey and I plan on having a "welcome to spring" bonfire. I'm ready to break out the BBQ grill, boca burgers (veggie burgers), and beer. I'm ready to start wakeboarding this year. I'm pumped! We went from winter to spring in like two days. I love it. Who's with me? Who's ready for spring? What do you like doing in the warm weather?
  18. I agree with ps1. I compare myself to my instructor in a good way. She is so sharp with her technique (I'm a technique geek), it actually inspires me. But she has almost 30 years of training behind her! So, although, I may not be that good any time soon, I'll definitely try.
  19. In WTF TKD (or at least the style I'm in), a turning kick is a roundhouse kick. The reverse turning kick is a spinning hook kick. And what bushido_man96 said was a heel kick, we used to (in TSD) call it the wheel kick. Weird, huh? LOL I used to like spinning kicks, jump kicks, ect. But I can't get my legs up there anymore (lack of training), so I like any stationary kick (front, side, round, and back kicks). Eventhough my turning kick is terrible right now. I lost my V-stretch flexibility, so I kick low now. If I want to get it higher, I have to force my hips to rotate more, and it hurts for some reason.
  20. Is that disrespectful to ask? I was on another forum when someone asked and another threw a fit because they asked. I never met anyone who was upset by me asking what rank they hold. I would freely tell anyone (who was interested in MA, that is). Have you met anyone that threw a fit by asking this question? Or would you be offended? And why?
  21. One of my friends used to skateboard. Since I snowboard now, I am wondering about skateboarding .... but at my age, I'll probably break something if I fall LOL ... then again I said that about snowboarding ....
  22. I don't hate snow. I like snow. It makes it easier to snowboard hehehehe. I just hate the cold. I hate being cold.
  23. Wow! I feel like such a wimp ... I do two hours a week of TKD (I just got back into training recently). I used to go three times a week (TKD), plus jujitsu on fridays (classes went as long as my instructor felt like LOL ... depending on what we were working on). Now I'm a fat slob LOL. Not really fat, just out of shape.
