well I think I get what warlock is saying. In the videos when they do some things they leave themselves open for attacks when doing techniques. -
All these people have been saying light gi's aren't good.I've had a light weight gi and pants for more than a year and the only problem I've had with it is the string to tie the gi falling off,but that doesn't bother me because the belt keeps it closed. Anyways the one thing i would like though is getting a shorter one,not different size just shorter everything.I've heard that the tournamnet cut is good for that.As for the pant's I've heard what you guys are talking about ,but mises are like sweat pants. You just put them on and that's it.

That would be a good mix:traditional styles with mma.Actually Tony Jaa has a similar combination of what you want to do.He does Muay Thai and Tae kwon do. -

"It is like trying to be a Muslim and a Catholic at the same time,"there a book about that,it's called :The life of pi" by Yann Martel. The only difference was that besides the afformentioned religions he was also practicing Hinduism. Also I'm taking the advice from you guys and only training in Karate and Kobudo.I'm going to do Kobudo because it's like Karates brother and it's not going to heavily interfere with my training. Also it's taught by the same teacher. -
Self Defense Techniques anyone?

Actually a wrist grab is a very common way for a woman to be attacked. If you have ever seen any victims of domestic abuse a common giveaway sign is bruises around the victim's wrists. hmmm, good point.I guess it's rare for guys only. -
Tang soo do,shorin ryu and kempo sound good from transitioning from Goju Ryu.i don't know about Tae Kwon Do,it's too kick oriented for transitioning from Goju ryu.Personally I would do either shorin ryu or kempo because theyre both okinawan so you would be more familiar with thr way they work.

I also do Goju Ryu and we don't have the second sanchin, what gives?

"Kickboxing rules favor the thai boxer" well yeah Muay Thai is a form of kickboxing. "Not really. Knock-down and kick-boxing are similar, but different; pain level might be the same, but the rules, techniques and strategy are not as similar as you might think." can you explain in more details please?

I know theyre not very effective, but theyre extremely fun,and sometimes I can land them on my opponent. -

Hey gyte I think that the reason for the hakama was because of the kendo as mentioned and because it's very japanese looking. -
people do voice their opinions ,whenever their on the news they get asked how do they feel about this.So they voice their opinions

"Teach effective stuff, and important principles right from the start" I agreewith that ,that's why i don't like to see or learn multiple ways of escaping from somebody grabbing your wrist because chances are attacks won't ever start that way. -
what is YMMV?Also you should really start up that thread about conditioning in Uechi ryu as mentioned on the finger tip strikes thread,I think it would help everybody with their striking training.
-
hey andrew are you saying that in japanese mma no knuckle punches are allowed? And only pal strike are allowed?

Katana ?? what a shame right,I wish it wouldn't of happened, but since it did it should of been something that's not that deeply associated with martial arts.
