  1. well I personnally think that If you were to go to this school just take hapkido because it already has all the grappling that you need.
  2. well I would personally go with hapkido, but that's me.Also I have heard that ninjutsu/budo taijutsu has no sparring because it's to nasty on your opponents(if I'm wrong please correct me Anbu alex or some one else).
  3. hey abel the picks on that website really don't show much of yaw yan kickboxing in action
  4. how does american/hawaiian kenpo differ to okinawan? Also theres also chinese and krean kenpo I believe.
  5. it's not wrong, but for me my instructor doesn't want me to be doing kickboxing things in a karate class, well a karate sparring match.
  6. well there are some places that charge very little money, but he has to go and look. These schools are small and not too commercial.Another good example is people teaching at their house, these people usually charge little or no money for lessons,it's just hard to find them.Anyways good luck to you and your friend
  7. yeah I used that at my dojo,it's called a makiwara( I love it),it's also for low kicks.
  8. well it's great for close quarters combat,it emphesizes both hard and soft techniques,it has a lot of circular techniques, high kicking isn't recomended for real situations,it has a lot of nasty techniques that will leave a person crying for their mommy,it doesn't have any weapons,it's very much into conditioning, has some weird okinawan weight training,it has a lot of sweeps, some grappling,it has a lot of breathing to help condition(as seen in the sanchin kata),it has a lot of joint locks, take downs, not much of any flashy moves, has some animal influences, big on joint kicks and joint manipulation, alot of open hand punches and blocks(like spear hand and hook block),does point sparring,is big on kata and it's bunkai, and etc.I hope this answered your question.if you have more questions,or more specific questions go ahead and ask or send me a message.
  9. well sengra as for your question,it depends on state to state, but I' m guessing theyre legal anywhere.I've seen a lot of filipino schools in america , so I don't think theyre illegal.
  10. im not 100% sure but i think you can do that in the season mode in the UFC game on the dreamcast. i was playing that on fridaynight with aload of my mates after watching about 5 hrs of pride and ufc dvds that game is addictive. well if you read previous posts, you will see that I recomended the K-1 game.As for the ufc game,it's out on Playstation 2 also.
  11. Well , you allready have a BB in KF ryu lol, yeah I was thinking about that the other day when I first got it,but i don't think this really shows my fighting potential.
  12. well I haven't heard of fighting black kings untill now.I was referring to fighter in the wind, the life story of mas oyama.
  13. Well theres this guy that does Aikido and Kung fu and hes a professional fighter, his name is Jason DeLucia.By the way he is a member of this website. You can look up his info on https://www.sherdog.com
  14. well you have a good amount of arts in your area to choose from. Then out all of those these have them in a way:Aikido(they do knife hand chops to parts of the body so they can take down their opponents),Wing Chun, possibly JKD,Okinawan Karate(and I'm guessing especially my style of okinawan karate, because it came from white crane kung fu),TKD,TSD,as for Kali I'm not sure ,but they might because they have an empty handed aspect to it.If you want a art that likes to have grip strength and probably employs finger tip strikes look for Hapkido or Kuk sool won.
  15. Well I already do what you suggest, but I want this so I can toughen up my hands. My sensei was mentioning it the other day about how they do or did this over in okinawa, so I thought it might be a good idea.
  16. So far so good , but remember , you will learn nothing if you don't take it to the limit from time to time . well I totally agree with your statement, but sadly in my dojo yo can't go full contact. So that means taking it to the limit is kind of limited at my dojo.
  17. just saw this video, very impressive. It shows that you don't have to be huge to own somebody in a fight.I would like to see however a match between a muay thai fighter and a yaw yan fighter.
  18. Does anybody think that filling up a bucket with sand or beans and then using it for bunches and finger tip strikes is a good idea? Why or why not? Also has anybody done this and what were your results?
  19. Goju Ryu
  20. well I don't think there are anay kicking based karate, but me personally when I spar,I do a lot of kicks and kick combos like doing a front kick and instatnly going for a round kick while my leg is still in the air.As for sport based american kickboxing was invented from karate because people wanted to do it for sport and full contact.
  21. kyukushin is the best karate style in my book.Honestly if I found one in my area and a legit one,I would drop my beloved Goju Ryu for it.Also a kind of side question, does anybody think the mas oyama movie is good or not, havent seen it yet.
  22. exactly, people just have to remember that sparring is for friendly fighting and learning not for crippling your opponent
  23. well sorry if I got my facts wrong, you really can't expect a mexican dude to know chinese history very well. Also another question, arent the triads like the chinese mafia or something?I saw a special on them on the history channel once.It was about the 5 worst organized crime countries.
  24. now I am,back when I was in high school I would jump down into the splits because people thought it was cool, but the next day I would be freaking sore.I should of warmed up before showing off he he
  25. well I guess I have to be a practitioner to see the good or bad in that movie. As for them speaking spanish, the whole movie was dubbed in spanish,so I didn't know about them not using portugese. Also yeah I know what you mean about the choreography, I've seen it in many films before.oh well it was something to pass my afternoon with.
