Training and state of mind - Advice needed
Muaythaiboxer replied to A. Orstrom's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
what your talking about is called "runners guilt" in the athletic comunity because it most oftain effects runners. i have a big problem with it if im not able to practice for a couple days i feel terrible and although im always a nice guy i find it very hard to be nice during these training breaks. if you dont got this when you stop training you arnt training enough. Is there any "True" styles?
Muaythaiboxer replied to KempoTiger's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
wow this topic is a diamond in the ruff IMHO all styles need to change with time but the problem is when people chang there style not to make it more effective but to make it more customer friendly. for enstance although most MT classes will give you better fighting skills than most other systems it is not customer friendly nor do the moves look that pretty, and no parent (except mine) would place there child in an enviorment where they would be subjected to full contact techniques, and lets face it if you want to get rich off MA schools you have to make your dojo kid friendly kids are the the MA schools bread and butter. then you have to add all the "extra stuff" to make more money. if a MT school stoped doing full contact and started doing tap sparing and then started to add flashy kicks to make it look cool it would stop being MT and be a watered down worthless system that happens to make money. this has happened many schools i talked to my TKD teacher and he said that 20 years ago most TKD dojongs where doing full contact and that hapkido was more offtain than not added in so then you had sweeps and throws then the teachers realized that americans dident want to learn how to fight they wanted to do forms and show off there flashy kicks and win trophys. -

Aikido In The Army
Muaythaiboxer replied to jedimc's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
very true so that is why aikido is not good for the army, great for police as there job is to take someone alive and unharmed although BJJ or JJJ could do it just as well -
Karate v Boxing
Muaythaiboxer replied to shukokai2000's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
kickboxing is basicly thai boxing with no elbows and most of the prokickboxers take muay thai not to mention that kickboxers get mauled by thai boxers when elbows are allowed. dont get me wrong kickboxing is ahead of most styles in training and condishing but the way the muay thai fighters train in thailand i would have to say that there are more good thaiboxers than kickboxers -
i guess ive never taken one hard enough to have that kind of pain. so i guess i will have to give this one to you as you have more experience with them than i do.

one of my good friends great grandfathers fought in the boxer rebellion against the germans and the british and his grandfather told him all sorts things that happened during the mao takeover (like all the monks in there village including his brother being hung for refuseing to be relocated) he also said that during the mao takeover that martial arts where not to be practiced and if a communist saw you practiceing tai chi you would be beaten, and if they saw you worshiping they would throw you in jail.
