Muaythaiboxer replied to Maddwraph's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
my first submission was an armbar from the mount, always try to make new firsts and goals like next time try to tap someone with a new move. -
double leg takedown tips
Muaythaiboxer replied to McNerny's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
well setup is the big thing but there are other things like shoot the double then switch to a single leg or fireman takedown. good luck AMITABHA -
well as to the question geared tword me i like to switch meditation because i feel it helps me more than just chanting as i used to do. i really enjoyed zazen and i feel it helps clear the mind whail i feel the mantras help me think better thoughts. i guess its sort of like cross training there is no perfect path to fighting just like there is no flawless path to enlightenment. as to another post i thank you for correcting my spelling i have been chanting that mantra for a long time and your spelling was closer to what i actually chant. heres another mantra if your interested (correct my spelling if its wrong) namu amida butsu - praise to the buddha amida i dont usually chant this one but i really like the sound AMITABHA

? how so i dont see how anyone could consider a pro boxing gym a mcdojo or a MMA school or one of the hard core TMA dojos or a fullcontact MT gym. So tell me who would consider these a mcdojo, if so they either have one of the most brutal training regements in the world (and in that case good for them) or they are crazy.

trust me i HATE to fight outside the ring and i hate violence in general (outside the ring) and i have never started a fight nor have i ever swung first. but as much as i hate fighting i hate talking smack worse i think its about the worst thing you can do to a person is talk behind there back and try to ruin there self esteem that is why i always confront the person and tell them to back off. (i guess its working cause i havent been in a fight in about 7 mounths)
-
lol right on, it seems to me that the majority of KF members are not mcdojo students (although there are a few). basicly people just dont want to work hard and that is why mcdojos are so successful it happens in every thing my father used to own a gym and he offered the most hard core fitness class in town and very few people showed up. the other gym offered some arobics that would barely make you breath hard and they made a killing, people just dont seem to understand you get out what you put in.

High School Wrestling
Muaythaiboxer replied to jnpnshr411's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Manabimasho1 do you have any experience in wrestling or are you just stateing what you think with no evidence. last time i checked wrestlers where doing very well MMA and where wining the majority of there fights. look at Chuck Liddell with out his wrestling background he would not be half the fighter he is today and what about Tito Ortiz and Randy Coutoure? you definnatly need to go to a wrestling gym and roll with some of the guys down there and mabe it will change your mind. yep i would have to say that 70% of MA schools are worthless in my town we have over 15 MA schools and of those 15 or so i have only found five that are any good and of those five i would only train at 3 of them
-
yea...if like BB more than i like the other MA mags but it makes me sick to see ads like BLACK BELTS FOR SALE!!! karate- $25 kempo- $30 taekwondo- $50 judo- $50 jiujitsu- $100 ect,ect AMITABHA

Chuck Liddell: Underrated Grappler?
Muaythaiboxer replied to UseoForce's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Liddell is a very good wrestler and has been doing grapling seince he was in high school and did kempo before that, yes he is a good grapler but i believe his best atrabute is his take down defence without it i dought he would have come as far as he has. -
ok i see where you are going and i agree with you i just thought that plyometrics improved my game more than weights did. i also really like body weight exercises for example pushups, situps i plyometrics bring good explosive power and a faster recovery time when tired (or so i have hurd) i thought they really helped my speed.

look i have asked many times if there is a good tai chi master in the midwest i will go spar him and post what happens here. just saying i have spared a guy who had 20 years of tai chi (Wu style) when he was in south east asia and he is very good at the forms but he has no clue how to fight with it. if the art cant make you a good fighter in 20 years when does it become effective? we where only doing light contact and he still was trying to shove me and do all these hand movements that where just wasting energy. i took a few lessens from him because it looked cool and he was very good at his art but it would not be my first choice for fighting.

well as a person i agree with you totaly...but as a high school student i know its not an option to back down unless you plan on changeing schools, ego is every thing in school and walking away after saying you will fight is not an option. i know its bad but this is the way high school is. im one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and people have started troubel with me because im and athlete or have the reputation of being a "good fighter" its like every one wants to be cool by trying to take down the guy they know can fight. and i know i would rather take a good hit than have people talk behind my back every time i turn around. well as to the previose post i agree some what that you chould only chant if you know what it means but i believe that chanting is very helpful if you understand what you are chanting well when i meditate i like to start off with about 15min of zazen (limiting your thoughs and concentrating on breath) then about 30min of chanting mantras then back to 15min of zazen. here are some mantras if your interested Om mana padma hum (praise to the jewel in the lotus) let all beings be happy where ever they are weak or strong tall short or medium small or large let all beings without exception be happy beings seem or unseen those who are near and those who are far away those who are born and those who are yet to be born let all beings be happy. there are lots more but they are really long and hard to remember and i would not want to post wrong info.
