Putting McDojos out of Business
Muaythaiboxer replied to Infrazael's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Bravo!!! when i was a little kid i started in wrestling (thank goodness) and when my parents put me in a mcdojo i remember thinking, where are the push ups? where are the wind sprints? and i left and went on to better things. Mcdojos give me coutless one time sparing partners and some great friends whom now train in legetiment arts. -
great story. my story, there where two people at my school who did not like each other very much. both i considered good friends one was a BB in ATA teakwondo and the other a state champion wrestler. one day during lunch these guys really made each other angry so they decided to fight after school. i told my BB friend that he was going to be stomped and and asked him not to fight. well he dident take my advice. the fight started and the BB did two round house kicks one hitting the wrestler in the side the other in the face. the problem was that both kicks where pulled and barely grazed him he then proceded to take down and pummel the BB.

Pride better rules, better fighters, although i do watch the UFC more that i watch pride lol iceman where do you train? im debateing wether to go to thailand or to the netherlands which is better in your opinion?

ok in the heavy devisions the dutch are dominant but in the lighter weights the thais are still doing a heck of a job. i agree that the thais are poor punchers compaired to the the european nations with a big boxing influence but there technique is second to none if, porsawan por pramook was a heavy weight he would do very well. not to mention Kaoklai kennorsing beat Mighty Mo in K-1 and Mo out weighed him by like 80 pounds.

i strongly dissagree with that assumption, but seeing as i dont do kata i guess to each there own. in my experience meditation has had a profound effect on my life. every night (ok nearly every night) i meditate for an hour, i start off with 15 min of zazen style meditation (focusing on breath, count one as you breath out and two as you breath in up to ten then start over) in the lotus position. next i switch to 30min of chanting (om mani padma hum) than back to 15 min of zazen. this is what has worked best for me. pictureing wining a fight is also great.

very true, i read Muhammad Ali (his life story) its very good. although he lived a pretty fast life when he was the champ he never got involved with the mob like liston and he stayed away from drugs which is what got Chuck Wepner in trouble. although he had a few too many lady friends for a marryed man IMHO he has turned that around too and is now a very upstanding citizen, i think he still does alot stuff for the nation of islam

lol yea, although Ali was a loud mouth he did stand up for his religion and i respect that. but Tyson was a really mean dude and there was the rape thing...i really dont respect Tyson. tyson would have mauled Ali in the street though IMHO

"Flote like a butterfly sting like a bee" not "Dance" Ali in my opinion was the third best boxer of all time nest to Ray Robinson, and Joe Lewis. Tyson had the abilaty to be one of the greatest but he never achieved legened status the only thing he was know for really was infighting and biteing off peoples ears. Ali probly would have beat Tyson cause although Tyson was a great infighter Ali had the great abilaty to keep pulling down on the head to avoide the blows, the man was one of the fastest strikers of all time, and he was a great inovator he invented the rope a dope stratagy and had the best left jab in boxing history not to mention his endurence, although he did have a really poor left hook compaired to Forman,Liston,Frasier, and Tyson.

Muaythaiboxer replied to Aodhan's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
its tag style so why not compete in sparing its not like its going to be dangerouse or even very painful, go ahead and compete in sparing and good luck. AMITABHA -
yes and if you hit there shin with your shin they useually go down.

i have hurd first hand storys about kicks to the knee that ended a fight, and dont dought there prowess if done right but the odds of pulling one off in a real fight are poor at best.

LOL i actualt hurt my friends all the time its what makes us friends, this one guy asked to feel what a thai kick was like (how could i resist that temptation) another said he could get out of my kimora lock (lol) yet another said that i couldent break a base ball bat with a thai kick (he won that one) so i guess where just wierd.
-
actually the thai kick is harder to catch than the snap kick IMHO theres so much power in that kick that you would have to use your body and your arms to catch it and even then you risk injury because you have to take the hit, not saying its impossible just that i have only managed to catch two of them in smokers (full contact sparring)

What if someone dishonored your sensei ??
Muaythaiboxer replied to y2_sub's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
this exact thing happened to me about 4 mounths ago. a man from another school came to ours and did about half a class (untill we got to push ups) he then said that his teacher could beat my teacher. my teacher just smiled and said thats great. i was really ticked off cause this guy came to OUR school to start trouble. two days later i saw the guy training at a local reccentre and asked if he wanted to go at it. about two minutes later he was haveing a hard time standing from my leg kicks and quit. after getting beaten he turned out to be an ok guy. i would challenge this guy and beat him in front of all his students, who knows he may take it back.
