  1. unfortunatly the ladys in the MA are few and far between "Karma i guess" and my last lady friend kept asking why i never had time outside of school. "um cause im going to practise"... and then the famouse quote "theres more to life than your MA" "not for me theres not" if i could find a lady who did MA that would be so cool. AMITABHA
  2. i cant think a style thats not same for kids when tought right (mabe krav maga) but i think its great that you wount put your kid in a mcdojo, i wish all moms where as smart with there kids MA education as you. AMITABHA
  3. um... ok i guess i can see what you are saying there is a form of Tantric meditation that is close to that only you try to connect yourself to all people in order to build compassion. i personally start with 15min zazen meditation switch to 30 min of chanting then back to 15 min zazen. i find that this is what works best for me but hey evey path in life is a path to enlightenment some just take longer. 4. in all seriusness there is nouthing to fear but fear its self. if you just think about it there is no reason to be afraid of anything, we may be able to help you more if you give us exactly what you are afraid of.
  5. umm no... thats not ok its not even a thai kick when you do a Muay Thai round house there is no snap in stead you basicly swing your leg (not clumsily) and at the last moment turn your hip over and :dead leg: the target with your shin, the instep is to be used at range to hit the outer and inner thigh but there is more power in your shins and it is safer because of the chance of cracking the bones in your instep. 6. there are two groups of people who do MA at my high school the mcdojo people and the hard core fighting people. the mcdojo people usually keep quite about it cause if they talk about it all the time then they will get made fun of or get challenged to fight by wanabe gangsters and then when they get stomped they get made fun of more. and then there are the people who do full contact stuff and we usually are generaly respected more. if someone asks you if you do MA at my school if you answer i do TKD or i do Karate then you will get made fun of for it. but if you answer i take Muay thai or i take Jiujitsu people are like cool! i saw that stuff on ESPN2 or the UFC. i my experience people my own age usually have watched a little UFC or kickboxing and think its cool but tend to kind of laugh at TKD and karate. just karma i guess AMITABHA
  7. LOL tae kwon dance= reson TKD is oftain not respected. LOL cobra wind deamon style = person who watchs way to much dragonballZ and plays mortal combat all day. Nel-son ryu = person who dident want to get a 10th dan in a legit style. there are some legit styles on the list and some really good MA but dang there is some really bad stuff there.
  8. forms of training in variouse styles that are oftain confused as sparing. roda = Capoeira tapi tapi = kali (i think) others in not so shure.
  9. OMG you have to be jokeing...you need a lessen in humility my friend and if your stand up is unbeatable go pro in MMA or boxing or what ever but considering that i dought you actually have much MA experience i sujest that you actually start training you may wish to start with jiujitsu considering you have such a low opinion of it.
  10. ok rolling bamboo on your shins and kicking the sand bag both kill nervs in your shins thats how you train your shins to take more impact by killing the nervs.
  11. actually bobing and weaveing is very effective in fact that is what nearly all pro fighters do today.
  12. doest hurt that much??? if a guy puts a hole in your cheek with it its going to hurt. and yes MMA is the best sport in the world hands down IMHO. i actually like pride better than UFC but hey thats just me.
  13. yea its a good style no dought but its so small right now that there few who could partisipate.
  14. yes!!! i never thought that would come up on KF! one of my crew members on my construction crew learned in the jail it has no kata and few kicks but they called it hapkido cause the guy who tought it did hapkido.
  15. yes muay thai will fall under every thing you want and would be very effective against a boxer although you may want to do some grapling to supliment your MT if you are doing this for SD.
  16. aikido is a good art for police but i would still chose a combat MA over a TMA for the police.
  17. i normaly share your opinions Karate25 but here you puzzle me. the fighters today have the sport down to such a science that you can no longer be viable with just one or even two styles. the best Muay thai fighter in the world would lose in the MMA ring as would the best grapler or boxer you need to do MMA to be good at MMA.
  18. huge sumo guys keep geting destoryed in pride and K-1 so i will say its not very effective, those guys are really strong though.
  19. very true if MMA guy got beat up in a bar he must not be a very good MMA fighter or he was really drunk and in that case deserved to get beat up the same for any style or fighter im just a little tired of people telling me how powerful there style is with no proof if all the sudden tai chi people started to win MMA i would start training in tai chi. i would just like to see how one of our fellow KF members does with his tai chi in a real testing ground.
  20. do a little research Dragons are a myth and have no more reality to them than santa clause or big foot.
  21. what school did you wrestle at? my high school wrestling team has taken 1-2 at state for the past four years although this year we got a new coach. in my opinion wrestling is the best base you can have because it gives you such a good foundation to build off of for grapling or strikeing.
  22. yea in the world of MA boxers are the best with there hands. and thailand took one gold one silver and two bronze at the olimpics if i remember correctly, cuba did very well to. and you are right i have a couple DVDs of thai boxers in thailand and they dont throw as many hands as western thaiboxers do although they make up for it and more with there great elbows. AMITABHA
  23. we usually do some every other class but for a very short time not even close to the amount of time spent on kicks or hand work. there are also some fights that allow elbows in california. but i have hurd they are few and far between
  24. i use bamboo for that but coke bottles? seems a little strange to me but hey! if it works dont stop. AMITABHA
