Preparing for Tournament
Jack replied to KickChick's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Your end performance is affected by many things, here are a few Sleep Diet Practice Financial Situation Relationships Contact with Friends/families Blah blah blah Basically, for the best performance, you need a balanced lifestyle, you need to train hard, concentrate most on sparring and your form, but get plenty of rest too. Also, Meditating and visualising the day will help a lot, too! -
Not quite the turn around u might have thought...
Jack replied to Angus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Angus, you were outnumbered. You were under the influence of alcohol. Do try to let it go please, those two might have another twelve friends next time you walk into them with vengeance on your mind. I suppose there's no letting it go for you, but it would be a lot better to drop the issue and get on with life. -
I guess it all started 15 and a bit years ago, when mummy and daddy decided to call me Jack

After a bit of input

Hehe Joe, sounds interesting and might give it a go with my Ju Jitsu friend, thanks for the suggestion, but I should have clarified the Shoulder Grab more. Its a grab with them standing directly infront of you, with their left hand on your right shoulder. If there is someway of getting this into a Hip Throw, it would be great. I'll practice it at the weekend, but any other ideas guys? -
You seem to have some good down-to-earth attitudes to life, I look forwards to more of your posts. Have a good stay.

Planning your routine can be something creative, in which you really get to put in some of your own original input, which can be a refreshing change to following procedures as a lot of Martial Art training is. Go and have fun, manipulate routines and enjoy yourself!

Problem - anyone help?
Jack replied to YODA's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Sorry YODA, I ment to post that reply to a different question you asked, about combinations of throws. Apoligies -
Hey, during my 5th Kyu Taekwondo grading on Saturday, we had the Self Defence section. I didn't do too badly, and since we are allowed to 'do anything that works' and be marked on that, and also since I am reaching the sort of level where Practitioners are allowed to explore their own methods and try things out, I would most definitely be interested in getting some suggestions from Judoka into some of the throws, trips, locks, and chokes you do from the following four attacks: 1) Front Punch 2) Shoulder grab (Their left hand on your right shoulder) 3) Neck Grab (Both hands strangle around neck) 4) Stranglehold aka. Tight headlock from the side, their feet infront of yours So far we've done some pretty standard, not particularly impressive moves but I'd definitely like to give a shot at some more impressive moves to get higher marks I was thinking perhaps using an Ogoshi or Uki Goshi for the Neck Grab? Any sort of input here would be valuable Then again, since I don't learn Judo, merely have a website with animations and explanations of moves, some of the more simple moves would be good... heck if I could get a Hip Throw from any of those above situations I would jump at the chance, just let me know Thanks in advance

Surely its better to experiment yourself and find things which work for YOU, instead of simply asking someone else to make a routine for you. So many Martial Artists nowadays seem to copy other's routines instead of going off, doing some researching, asking questions, finding out what works for them and going with that. You could ask for a basic guideline which helps, such as how many days a week, what roughly to concentrate on those days (Strength, Speed, Skill, Endurance, Flexibility) and from there find what works for you to help with each of those.

Yes, after your workout do some joint rotations (leg swings, unweighted squats, shoulder rotations) and go for a quick jog. This will all help to loosen the muscles up. Then do some stretching. If you are aching when you get home, try taking a nice long bath, and eating a banana also seems to help. Basically, you need to get rid of that Lactate build up!

Hmmm, I have pot very rarely, and if so I only have a little to make things more interesting, I'm talking in a year I might get high no more than four-six times, and never stoned. I'm not addicted, and I never have lots at once or often. Its less physically addictive than tobacco/nicotine, and if you are damaging your lungs slightly, its less than smoking 40 cigarettes a day, and its sure less than drinking often. Dont make me out to be a criminal or anything for it though please, just a point of view.

Welcome NinjaGurl, I hope you have a great time here

Hey everybody, I'm just posting to let everybody know I will be taking my 5th Kyu examination in Tae Kwon Do tomorrow. I've practice hard this week, I think I'm going to relax for the rest of this evening and get in a good night's kip, then I'll be up early tomorrow to the all day event

Well, on Mondays and Wednesday I practice my Martial Arts skills for about an hour, and then do 20 minutes on the exercise bike interval style, then finish off with plenty of stretching, so that works on skill, endurance, and flexibility. Flexibility includes the muscle control of holding leg out in air to increase strength Tuesdays and Thursdays I do Abdominal workout - 3 non-step of sets of Reverse Crunches, Crunches, Crunch Twists, Reverse Trunk Twists, and Side V-Ups, and then an upper body work which I vary constantly, sometimes its variations of pushups and pullups with some weights, sometimes its all weights, I'm always doing something new and different to suprise muscle into growth. I go to a TKD lesson on Friday and make surw I stretch after that. I rest on Saturdays I'll try to meet up with my Ju Jitsu friend on Sunday, Spar and Practice Self Defence, but if we can't meet then I'll go practice on the punchbag for an hour

if I had to pick one, rich. But remember people can be rich in more ways than just financial

Three60 I agree with you there, but as long as they actually make music you enjoy, then so be it... and yes Morning View was a little lacking although you gotta love Aqueous Transmission
-
oh yes, and I'm with you three60 on the Linkin Park front

Hehe, the best love songs out there are definitely not the ones made by Boy Bands, Joe Satriani, Utada Hikaru, Incubus, and Everclear all have some pretty cute songs. I'm definitely a romantic guy, and whats even better, I finally get to see my Girlfriend for the first time since she moved away 8 months ago Its been hard to keep it going, but its really been worth it.... I'm going to be kinda tired though, I see her the day after my 5th Kyu Grading

I'm siding with three60roundhouse on this one
