  1. Yo mama's so backwards she sat on the TV and stared at the couch for 2 hours. (Don't ask)
  2. I love all sorts of Punk, but not the pop punk really. I love Millencolin, Pennywise, Matchbox 20, MXPX, Guttermouth, Dynamite Boy etc. etc. (some bands for you to check out Jiggy) I also like metal and the famous guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Joe Satriani. I also enjoy Lostprophets and Adema, but Linkin Park is a definitely no-no to me, I used to like them, then I got tired of them and thats when they became famous and then everyone else started to like em. Basically, I like Punk, rock, Metal, SOME nu-metal (but a lot of it is poor imo) Peace
  3. Strength can come as much from muscle tightness and density as from size, apparently. One of my friends looks way more strong than me, big sixpack arm muscles out everywhere, but, I can by out-military press him, do more situps and faster pushups. Its a bit of a puzzle really, but, I suppose someone knowledgable will explain this to us
  4. Yep, I have not read the Lord of the rings trilogy but I definitely have read the Hobbit. Its a great book, and its not nearly as long either so you won't be put off by reading it.
  5. Also Ad, I know this is a tiny thing compared to Sai's post, but when doing Air kicking (ie, not making contact with an opponent or a punchbag) to the kick lightly and relaxed. Doing full force kicks in thin air can lead to arthritis. In addition, I'm guessing you could do a search off of a search site on Juvenile arthritis to find some sort of exercises to alleviate pain.
  6. I suppose if its in rounds, and you're pushing yourself hard for those rounds, then yes that would be an example of interval training
  7. I wish that was the case Sai, but I have had these knee and ankle pains since before I even started Weight training. However I am going to change my strength training quite dramatically. I am going to keep doing bicep curls and military presses, but at a much lighter weight/higher rep system. I am also going to do lots more pushups and varieties of pushups, and pullups too. My dad has recomended physiotherapy for my knees and I might take him up on that, I mean I have had these pains for a good 8 months now, it might be something more than just growing pains. I think I am going to alter my weights definitely, and take Sunday off except for 5 minutes on the exercise bike before breakfast, and keeping the skill training to slow, precise patterns and drills (More relaxing than otherwise) Thanks for the input guys, I'll do some research into recovery time for Pylometric/speed training and then alter it some more. Any more suggestions, please bring them up. I want this to be a routine for the next year so I'd like to invest a good amount of time making it as good as possible
  8. Hmm also, would you recommend because of my age (15) that I should stick with assortments of pushups and pullups instead of weights?
  9. I don't have any experience with Pylometrics yet, so I don't know on the recovery times for them. Also, maybe I should just do nothing on Sunday and use that time to relax and recouperate?
  10. Phh, you watch TV? Why aren't you up practicing your katas Prodigy? For Shame
  11. Of course it is as first Doug - You understand your own thoughts, but communication them to others is slightly more challenging
  12. Never anything like that although I almost every night my dreams have something to do with the Martial arts, lol. It isnt helped by watching so many martial arts movies this week
  13. hehe, I'm planning to see it sometime during these Christmas holidays
  14. Go for it Joe. With a bit of planning and determination you can achieve your goals
  15. Well, I'm 15 years of age, 58kg and am 1.69 so I'm VERY similar to build to you I suppose Personally, I do Tae Kwon Do which is a bit more sporty than hardcore fighting, but, it's still helpful for self defence (a lot of it matters on wtf/itf also). If you're after a rough and ready art thats better for realistic situations, look into arts such as Muay Thai or Brazillian Jiu Jutsu, or Ju Jitsu. Something like that may satisfy your needs better. However, take a look at all the schools around, ask questions, see what takes your fancy. Good luck!
  16. By the way, is the tape's chain hitting instructions limited to Kung Fu techniques, and are they presented generally or specifically for one art? If specifically for one art's techniques, can it be easily interpreted and used for anothers? thanks
  17. Well, I'm planning to continue with Tae Kwon Do until I'm either 1st or 2nd dan black belt, and then I want to really explore myself and the arts and start Jeet Kune Do, to individually develope as a martial artist Failing a Jeet Kune Do school, I'd continue with Tae kwon do while starting up in a complimentary art such as Muay Thai or Ju Jitsu
  18. Hey guys. I just spent the last 15 minutes drawing up this new routine for myself and I'd like all of yours opinions. Well, I need anyone to spot out any parts of training at all that I have missed out since I want to include everything possible. I've decided to reach a new level of diligent practice, and my current routine doesn't really hold to that. So, comments, feedback, anything to help me improve this more Monday: Endurance, Skill, Flexibility - 100 minutes Tuesday: Strength, Endurance, Speed - 100 minutes Wednesday: Endurance, Skill, Flexibility - 100 minutes Thursday: Strength, Endurance, Speed - 100 minutes Friday: Skill, Flexibility - 100 minutes Saturday: Strength, Endurance, Speed - 100 minutes Sunday: Endurance, Skill - Varies (40 to 120 minutes) Endurance: Shadow Boxing - 3 minutes rounds Bagwork - 3 minute rounds Advanced Kicking Exercise Bike - 20 minutes - 1/1/0.5 (slow/fast/v.fast) or steady pace, or 3/2 Strength: Weights... Bicep Curl Tricep Extension Military Press Behind Neck Bench Press Barbell Pulldown Dumbell Pulldown Shrugs Deadlift Abdominals... Weighted Situps - 10 Minutes solid Crunches - 5 minutes solid Leg lifts - 4 sets of 100 Speed: Explosive pushups (Down slowly, Up as quickly as possible) Jumps with knees to Chest quickly Jumps with knees to butt quickly Hops on/off Obstacle Skill: Forms - twice each. Once slowly for precision, once quicker for power Drills - Single moves or combinations down the hall Stationary move practice - practice a move repeatedly in stationary position Balance - Standing on balls of feet, standing on one leg, etc. Shadow Boxing - 3 minute rounds Bag work - 3 minute rounds Flexibility: Dynamic Stretches: Front, side, back every morning and every warmup Static Stretches: Leg out infront, lean forward try to bring head to knee From standing, drop slowly close to splits Sitting down Splits I am aware there are no lower body weight exercises, its because my knees and ankles hurt quite a lot sometimes due to growing pains so I dont want to cause unnecessary stress with squats and lunges So, anything at all I am missing out on? Don't be afraid now I want to try and include as much as possible. Yes I'm aware of meditation, but, I dont know if I'll be able to fit that in at the moment. Thanks in advance
  19. Well, it would be pretty good for utterly decimating an opponent with a flurry of fists. You have your hand strikes, foot strikes, blocks, and grappling. Imagine what an advantage you'd have if your hand strikes could be sent out with such a speed and rapidity. I might look into purchasing this video, I would just like to feel more secure about it before spending my money.
  20. MrDash, there are no better arts. Some are better for sport, some are better for self defence, etc. Also, it depends on your body type, you might be more suited to one art than another For a list of martial arts, check out the ones on the left menu of http://www.kickboxing.com Have a look around, pick out something you like
