lol yeah I know what you mean Wouldn't it be a great job to run one, though? I mean you get, say, 30 blackbelts from various systems and you teach them all other, new stuff, every day for hours on end. Say, a year course or something dedicating your life to martial arts It would rock!

Hey there, If someone in their teens does weightlifting, the body uses growth hormones that would normally be used for other things to build muscle, right? So if someone in their teens does weightlifting, they could really lose out in other areas? Anything to help with this?

Excactly as Bon says My instructor does not do a cool down at the end of lessons either, so I stay behind for 5 minutes to stretch, and when I get home I'll have a shower and stretch then too, before helping myself to a banana (for some reason they're good for after-working soreness reduction?)

Its also a much nicer way to go about it: Instead of having to ask different people again and again, he can leave a message here and check back later for some help

karate - jogging - wheight lifting: what ratio?
Jack replied to Henning's topic in Health and Fitness
For building up speed with your weight lifting, you have to include Pylometric training. I'm not totally sure, but it involves explosive movements - ie when you do the weight, for the pulling, contracting, most strenuous part of the movement do that bit quickly, then lower at a normal speed. It has something to do with fast and slow-twitch nerves. I'm not completely sure since I don't know too much about Pylometrics, but these websites should help... http://www.turtlepress.com/ufs1a.html http://www.turtlepress.com/wtmaa.html http://www.turtlepress.com/wsa.html Hope you find them helpful and an insight into speed increasing and weight lifting -

karate - jogging - wheight lifting: what ratio?

Ahazmaksya, true I'm 15 in December but the amount of weight I use has not done me any damage. I still get growing pains in my knees and ankles (my growth isnt stunted) I'm an average height for my age and I feel fine. Besides, I'm a bit of a weakling, 45 pounds on both arms for Dumbell curl and military press, same for Bench press (bit light but oh well) The weight is a little less than what I can manage. Yes I know I may be weak but hey, I'm doing something about it and I feel great -

Tuesday: Weights, 20 minutes on bike Wednesday: Practice TKD, 30 minutes on bike Thursday: Weights, 20 minutes on bike Friday: TKD Lesson Saturday (if I can get time away from social life): Weights, 20 minutes on bike Sunday: 30 minutes on bike, lots of stretching, relax. But hey thats just me Best of luck -

The Significance of Belt Colors

In the old days, they were just there to hold the trousers up -
Dude, you NEVER get used to being kicked in the todger :/ Probably protection or a TV fake
-
Hey Moobrack, send a quick message back from me just to say heya and that to get back on soon!
-
oh yeah, and to get back on topic I would prefer if possible to simply neutralise the attacker, but this may not go to plan so I may end up indeed scoring a hit on them with their own weapon. Especially since I am not that well trained in Martial arts yet As an old friend of my sensai said "Would you rather be sentanced by one, or carried away in a body bag by seven?"

Hmm, Metallica are alright but personally I prefer Rage Against the Machine I'm more into the Offspring, Pennywise, Millencolin, Sum 41, Lagwagon, Spunge etc. myself
-
Rage Against the machine are an awesome band Angus, good taste you have Don't worry, their music is hardly mind-altering. Leave that to the whole Cradle of Filth gothic music (which I do not listen to!) Seriously, its just good music
