I'm not sure yet Moobrack, it will take a while for me trying different methods and places and stuff until I find my way of properly meditating
-
There you are, looking very, well, erm... 'not' scary
-
Its amazing what you can find just by doing a quick search off google, I even found some meditation techniques that I'm now trying
-
Still, damn lucky of you to have such a good gym like that
-
kicker you are very lucky having a gym that excepts someone your age, iirc from that birthday thread you're 12? Well, all the gyms here only take 16+, consider yaself lucky! :kaioken:

I was just browing on the web for Martial Arts Tip, and stumbled across this very informative page. http://www.turtlepress.com/library.asp Has everything - strength, flexiblity, speed, philosophy, history, training drills... I hope you like it as much as I did

Pardon me for asking here, but what excactly is 'ripping up' ?

I was thinking, if you wanted to gain weight, surely you would want to gain most of it as possible in muscle?
-
At the moment with weights I am following the advice from Ken which seems to be working dramatically - I can now bicept curl about 140% of what I could 4 months ago . His advice is very high weight, low reps, 3 sets of 8 reps infact with 3 different exercises to stimulate muscle to grow, not tear it up. By the way, on the bike times, thats just starting. Of course the time and intensity of time of bike riding would increase. In a year I could be doing, say, 30 minutes some days an hour other days and a much higher speed Thanks for the good luck, I'd still like KickChick to come along with a big, helpful explanation like she always does No pressure to if you don't want to though don't worry

Only continue reading if you are interested in improving your combination of weights/cardio, or are willing to help a damsil in distress Allow me to explain Due to growing pains and lack of soft ground to run on nearby, I cannot really run in a reliable routine, so I shall hopefully be getting an exercise bike in a month or two. However I have some questions... Is it possible to both gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, or is it a case of trying to loose as little muscle as possible while losing fat? I heard in Angus's Running and toning thread that you have to gain weight before you could really weight train - would this mean I should pig out for 2 weeks before I start any weight training? My aim is to gain weight in muscle, but also while burning some fat from my thighs and bum. Is this actually possible, or should I simply go on just cardio for, say, 4 months, before starting to weightrain and lesson amount of time on bike? I really do not know, but I thought up a routine as I always do so please give me your input as to how I can change it to achieve my results I want Monday - MA Practice, 30 mins on bike Tuesday - Weights, 10 mins on bike Wednesday - MA Practice, 30 mins on bike Thursday - Weights, 10 mins on bike Friday - 15 mins on bike, MA lesson. Saturday - Weights, 10 mins on bike Sunday - Rest Along with this, 5 minutes on the bike every single morning before breakfast for that fat burn/metabolism wake up. I will also eat plenty of protein. Does this look good for burning fat, increasing endurance and increasing muscle? Or is it expectable to burn away muscle as well as fat? What improvements could be made to get the best of both worlds? Or would I have to go for say 4 months fat burning, then go for building muscle? And would I have to throw in gaining weight BEFORE I weight train for best muscle results? If anyone knowledgable on the subject could help me here I would be so very grateful! Thank you greatly in advance Jack

Favorite Martial Arts Movie
Jack replied to Chris from CT's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
My all time favourite has to be Enter the Dragon unfortunately I did not get to see an awful lot of Martial arts movies, but Kickboxer is good, as are the Rush Hours and the Game of death [ This Message was edited by: Jack on 2001-10-19 05:14 ] -
Personally, I do not like the idea of an entire week off, it is time where muscle can diminish slightly, fat can increase a little, and your skills are left unsharpened. I would be willing to make this sacrifice to go abroad for a week or two, but if I was at home I would prefer not to. However, I never overwork my self, I tend not doing more than an hour and a half of either working out or practicing a day, and allow myself the sunday to just stretch and relax If you want to get away from it all then, there's nothing to hold you back from stopping and coming back later.

Yep, it took a while for my body clock to adjust to waking up later in the summer holidays, I think it took about 2 weeks for me to start waking up at 10-11 instead of 7

Oh my god, that isn't the list to see if people will go psychotic, thats the list to tell apart the perfect shiny happy people from the real people! Another testimony to how little governments know about their people

DarkMonkey, I've had similar experiences to you. Allow me to list the problems I had. 1. Often my roundhouse would come at a diagonal level instead of horizontal. 2. My kicks with my right leg were ending up lower and lacking in power. 3. I could never get my stance the same each time. 4. My wrists bent when punching something. What I did. Everytime I threw a roundhouse I would get that technique right to kick horizontally, eveytime I kicked with my right leg I would do it giving the power needed to get my knee high. I would practice stance a lot (still not fully sorted out) and I would really concentrate on getting my wrists straight when punching... alas, a few months later my right kicks and very nearly as good as my left, my punches are corrected and my roundhouses are rather impressive for someone at my level. Basically, just practice remembering all the things you need to improve on. Try practicing it slowly at first to get the technique/stance right then build up speed until you are satisfied. I have a grading coming up, just tonight's lesson then one more week and one last lesson before it - I have drawn up a routine to improve on everything Good luck, and I hope you pass by deserving it which I think you will, and not just because the system wants you to carry on!

Yep, I'm managing 3 a second, but I've only been studying for 8-9 months which makes me pretty much a beginner, suppose I'm doing alright then

Simple answer - You don't Seriously don't try it, my parents bugged my older brother to get up once at the weekends... and he got up and stormed out of the house and didn't come back until next day [ This Message was edited by: Jack on 2001-10-17 09:38 ]

Well, there's the face to the name Good pic Moobrack, at least you look your age! I always look 8 in my photos take care

Well, you already seem helped but here are a few things I might do to keep awake. Having a tea with four sugars - May be unhealthy but it sure wakes you up, watch for the possible sugar rush tho Some stretching and light aerobic exercise can also help wake you up. Don't know if any of this is particularily helpful, this is just what works for me

Me too, December 14th 1986

When I'm annoyed, I just put on some music for a while then read a book. It helps take your mind off things for a short while so when you get back to reality you are feeling more fresh for it Or take a nice bath
