  1. Ah well, any help is good help. I'm doing a short run every morning which i try to sprint, or do as fast as i can. It's only 3.2 km but i reckon the speed makes up for the distance. Cos i'm damn near death by the time i get back. Angus
  2. Okay - running burns fat right? More than doing weights? Cos i want to stop putting on muscle for a while and concentrate on the aesthetics (that is toning). I want to lose a little more of the beer gut ( not that there's much there anymore) and kinda get 'ripped' so to speak. Is it good to do toning with the weights every day? Angus
  3. Hehe, i had one guy in guard position at BJJ the other night and my guard is so strong that we had to stop cos he needed to fart. He silently went into the corner and practiced min/body/fart... That's a good little post. Angus
  4. Ground fighting is essential... If u come up againsta grappler or anyone who wants to wrestle and is strong then the ground is the place u will end up and once u are in a lock there is no way of getting out of it without grappling back.... this is what scares me, cos a grappler could just break my neck and i'd be stuffed! Angus
  5. hehe, Goldy, u've got 2 ladies liking u... simultaneous lovin'!! Angus
  6. Heh, i got told by a chick who sits behind me in psychology today that i made her feel fuzzy whenever i say hello to her..... Everyone looked at me so i did the Austin Powers "hello baby" voice thing to her - then as usual everyone was in hysterics. I love Australia, such a good country with wonderful, wonderful people. Sorry for the patriotism, Angus
  7. Cool.... Hey Lori, do u actually learn Japanese terminologies in your kickboxing? Angus
  8. *flexes biceps again for the pleasure of the ladies* "like dis, dis wot u want?" Angus
  9. I was just curious to know if anyone had a favourite takedown, from any position or circumstance. I personally enjoy defending against a punch by slapping it away, and grabbing at the same time, pulling in the direction of the punch and subsequently throwing the attacker off balance, then tackling them so their face is on the ground. I apply a mount and choke then. It's great fun! Angus
  10. Clever, and ever so manly! *flexes his bicep* Sorry to hear about your probs, similar stuff happens all over the world... It's life i guess, although i did hear something about grass being greener somewhere... I live on a farm, lovely green grass here Angus _________________ Your Anger is a Gift - Rage Against the Machine Angus Argyle - Moderator of the General Karate and Jiu Jitsu Forums. 11. I don't mind no contact sparring with a woman, but seriously - it's not like i don't hit them to feel more manly, it's just that i couldn't live with myself if i smacked into some chick and caused fullon pain... Angus
  12. No, i woudn't hit ANY WOMAN! If she was grotesquely overwieght then i'd run away and watch her try and waddle after me or something. I'm sorry, gees, i just DON'T HIT WOMEN! I don't mind if a guy smacks some bidiot woman who's just kneed him in the groin for no reason, but i personally wouldn't strike back... I'd take to him if he smacked her more than once though. Angus
  13. I'm sorry, i just don't hit women... i know it's in their best interests to be hit and learn to take it, so therefore it's in their best interests not to train with me. I'l teach them basic self-defense but i won't spar with them in a full contact situation. Angus
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Angus
  15. Whoa, i can see that all the chivalry in the world has gone down the dunny. If she pulled a knife on me i would try to disarm her. I don't understand why i'm being attacked for something that i believe in. I don't see women as the weaker sex, cos we couldn't survive without them and anything that can pop something bigger than a bowling ball outta themselves has my admiration (thus women giving birth - d'uh). I spar with women, and i primarily block and evade. I don't enjoy hitting back. It's just something i'm not comfortable with. What if we were to agree to spar full contact NHB and i accidentally broke her nose or something? It would be fine if she did it to me, i don't care - it happens. I would be laughed at, yes, but so what? If i did it to her i could be brought up on charges of assault and the court does not look kindly on women beaters, plus i wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Now, A BIOLOGICAL FACT!!! On AVERAGE, women are physically weaker than men. They do not have the testosterone to brign them up to equal strength, and that is why women are protected by the law etc... It's no holds barred in an intellectual battle cos i know i am more than matched in brains by women, but i refuse to hit them... I'm really really REALLY pissed off that people up and attacked me for me following a chivalrous way of life. I open doors and complement women on their shoes too, why not have a go at me about that as well!?!? :kaioken: :kaioken: Angus _________________ Your Anger is a Gift - Rage Against the Machine Angus Argyle - Moderator of the General Karate and Jiu Jitsu Forums. 17. HapKiDo must be different everywhere - but it was created from a dude who did TKD and then went to Japan to study Aikido. All the locks and stuff i did was in our self-defense component of the syllabus. Strikes were our primary initiative. Angus
  18. Ahhh Natalie, i am all natural. The fact that i am studying an advanced english course on Victorian Literature probably helps a bit too. I say what i think in the best possible way i can say it - simple as that. I may be a brutish neanderthal at times but i certainly am not intellectually handicapped. Please, call me Gus, Angus _________________ Your Anger is a Gift - Rage Against the Machine Angus Argyle - Moderator of the General Karate and Jiu Jitsu Forums. 19. i disagree there Goldy... I think the only ugliness that can shine thru is from a bad personality. The human body is a complex thing of beauty - the way it functions and the enourmity of tasks it carries out without us even thinking about it. Beauty can be physical as well as mental - but the body fades, the personality can not. Even when dead the memories of the person are there forever, From the info i get from the ladies on this thread you are not too bad a specimen of physicality yourself. Although i liken my physique to a mere instrument of destruction i must say that i have been told that i have many um.... *distinguishing* features... if you KNOW what i mean :brow: Angus
  20. Hey doggy Do u have any background in the Martial Arts dude? Angus
  21. I actually do think there was a study done that dictated that doing weights from an age under 15/16 can have detrimental effects on the body. We're pretty much all we're gonna b at age 16, but pushups and stuff are goods. If you're gonna do weights anyway i don't think it would be wise to spend 2 hours doing them. Just 15 minutes of toning and stuff. There was a boy interviewed on kickboxing.com or something. he was described as 'Little Hercules' and he is pound for pound the strongest person in the world. His parents put this talented kid on a weights and martial arts routine and he has personal trainers and all that crap. I', afraid of what's gonna happen while this little dude is growing, i don't reckon he'l grow all that well and there might b detrimental effects. I don't spose i should talk - i was doing mountain climbing martial arts spiritual stuff with my brother when i was 12/13. It was great - but i'm kinda contradicting myself by doing onew thing and saying another. Ah well, sorry. Angus
  22. In a fight against ME a woman is better. I don't hit women, period! They can smack me in all the known regions of manland and i just won't hit back. It's a failure, a fault, a flaw - i know - but i just can't hit a thing of beauty (aka the female body). Angus
  23. I don't find knuckle pushups hard anymore - i just did them and did them and did them.... i did knuckle conditioning by punchin solid objects so i could build up the scar tissue around my knuckles and kill off the pain. I'm just feral i guess. Pushups are easy though, i do sets of 20/30 and can go over 200. i think my best in a row is like 103. It's great stuff! Oh by the way if anyone didn't already know: Angus, 18, Australia - zendokai karate, hapkido, brazilian jiu jitsu, freestyle kickboxing, wushu, boxing, goju ryu karate - and i'm looking into zengoshu karate as well. I've been doing the MA's since i was 6. Moderator of the General Karate and Jiu Jitsu forums. Only problem with me is i like to drink and love to eat - so i'm not at my peak fitness by any standards. I can still kick some serious donkey though. Angus
  24. Ummmm.... Jack i think u have ur info wrong - HapKiDo isn't a grappling art. It's primarily striking and it incorporates standup locks and stuff into its syllabus. Trust me HapKiDo is a striking art. I suggest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Gracie Jiu Jitsu to everyone, cos i see these as the best grappling arts in the world. Would they be beneficial for a woman? Well, i guess they're beneficial for everyone whose serious about their martial arts, although a woman might find grappling against a man a bit compromising when it comes to moves such as the guard and mount I've grappled with a woman before and she was tough, although not physically stronger her technique was good and she had me all locked up. Angus
  25. Hmm, i actually impressed someone... cool. I simply convey the truth and say what i think at the time. However, the mind is always more beautiful than the body - and from reading your posts it is easy to see that you are the complete being. Here, i drew a picture of you > < Angus
