  1. Wow!! You GO man!!! Sounds pretty brutal to me! That's amazing that you have to spar with so many people! We, on the other hand only need to spar once, thank-god!! How do you do it? It's so draining!! Our school has so many students that we have to test in groups. I see that your belt system is almost the same as ours - we also have high-colored belts...eg. yellow, high-yellow (with a black stripe), orange, high-orange etc...I'm testing for my blue belt next month, so we're at about the same belt level - cool! Lori
  2. I'm sure you can all relate to this! I recently became really discouraged in my class due to the fact that I could not for the life of me do a spinning hook kick...my equilibrium was totally shot and I fell on my butt countless times! I couldn't understand it! It turned out I was actually sick (never been so glad to be sick haha). I went on my vacation and had lots of rest and upon coming back, I NAILED it every time! I had such a good class last night - did lots of spinning hook kicks and was very happy with my form. When I talked to my Sensei about it, she said "Everybody is entitled to a few bad days!!", so I guess my point is that you should have patience with yourself while training and to relax and let it all come on it's own - and yeah, we're all allowed to have our 'off days'.
  3. My last belt testing was brutal, as they always seem to be. I break more than a sweat!!! The testings usually last for approx. 2 1/2 - 3 hours - depending on how many people are testing and if there is anyone testing for their Black Belt or Dan. Lori
  4. Yeah, I know - it turned out quite blurry...but I'll definately post some better ones. Thanks for the "Boy'toy" offer - I'll have to threaten my husband with that the next time he gets lippy . Hey - definately let me know when or if you're fighting here in November ok? I'd definately like to go see!!!! What style??? Kickboxing? Muay Thai? You might know one of my Sensei's - Sensei Blake Lirette - ?? He's just started his Pro career and is doing VERY well in kickboxing!!!!
  5. I really couldn't tell ya who I look like...you can tell me what you think - my picture is under 'Introductions' under the 'Post your pictures' thread on page 2. To post your picture, either post a link to it, or send it to Patrick and he'll post it for you - looking forward to seeing your pic! John Travolta huh? I've loved him since 'Grease'!!!!!! Lori
  6. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" - I think I'll stick to that... Nothing like good old-fashioned hard work! Yes, I have heard of this before, but I'm wondering if it's the same thing as another product out there that gives you a massage by 'zapping' your muscles? I can't imagine you'd feel the same euphoria you feel after a really good, hard class... Lori
  7. Cool! I can't wait to see!! Lori
  8. Think of it this way - would you rather stay and learn from an abusive 'instructor' how to be abusive, cause that's what he's teaching...or would you rather quit now and look for a better school that will respect you and teach you properly - ? I don't know about the quality of what they teach, but judging from their attitude, I doubt they teach you anything that isn't tempered with violence. You are being abused and that is NOT ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have witnesses that would back you up? If so, go to the authorities and tell them that you are being threatened. If he so much as lays a hand on you, he's toast - and without any documentation, you have nothing on him...Best of luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lori
  9. Hey Mark and welcome !! Do you practice any type(s) of Martial Arts? Lori
  10. . Your wife must have her hands full with you he he...(why do I always feel that my comments will be exploited and made into some perverted fantasy when I answer you Ken????? ) Lori
  11. Hey, I totally understand how difficult it is to quit in a Scandanavian country! I started up again when I moved to Norway because EVERYONE there smokes!! Fortunately, I have since quit - I can't do martial arts at the level I'm at now and still smoke. Try the patch - it worked for me...good luck! Lori
  12. OMG!! I didn't see that right away!! Ummmm...Patrick - you may want to change that...Who did that anyways??? (I think I have an idea, though) Lori
  13. I want pictures Iron Arafat!!!!! C'mon!!! Please........?????????? :brow: Lori
  14. A man bald man with one leg wanted to go to a fancy dress party but he didn't know what to go as. He wrote to a fancy dress company and asked for a recommendation. The reply came back saying that he could go as a monk becasue of his bald head. He replied angrily saying that they were just being rude about his bald head. The company apologized and wrote back saying that he could go as a pirate, his bald head could be covered by the hat and his wooden leg would complemnt the outfit. He replied angrily saying they were just being rude about his wooden leg. A few days later he recieved a parcel with a note. In the parcel was a pot of sticky toffee and the note said smear the toffee over your head, stick your wooden leg up your arse and go as a toffee apple! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Lori
  15. Welcome back Blood Eagle!!! We missed ya! Lori
  16. Well - since I take it with me everywhere, I have to say my kubaton. Otherwise I would use whatever was available - t-shirt - high-heeled shoes are a great weapon too! Sexy, but deadly :brow:! Lori
  17. Smarten up Angus and get some rest or I'm gonna have to come over there and kick yer butt !!! What are you trying to do - kill yourself . Lori
  18. We want real pictures!!!!! Come on all you guys!!!! Show us what you've got!!!! Lori
  19. First - I only respect people who have earned it from me - contrary to popular belief, it is something to be earned not given away freely. In martial arts, you cannot earn someone's respect if you haven't studied what you are teaching!! Ridiculous that this guy has never trained and yet is allowed to teach! And what an insult to those who have dedicated their lives and worked their butts off to EARN their black-belt...however, perhaps one day he'll be required to put his knowledge to the test and realize that his "honorary" black-belt won't be able to get him out of trouble... Lori
  20. Hey and welcome to the forum...I look forward to your input - I'm a kickboxer, so any tips you have would be greatly appreciated! Lori
  21. :pony: :pony: :pony: Hey, I like this one Pat - now the cowboy for rushman !
  22. It's ok! Thanks very much! I still wish I was on vacation though... Lori
  23. A blonde goes over to the deodorant display and asks the clerk "I'm looking for deodorant for my husband". The clerk then asks "does he use the ball roll-on kind?". "No" replies the blonde "The kind you use under your arms". Bahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! Lori
  24. I agree Ken - avoid supplements and eat real food - your body will benefit more from it. Unless your body is deficient in something, there's no good reason for it - it's called marketing peoples....and is a very lucrative industry. Also - drinks such as SOBE contain ginseng and other types of supplements, which can be potentially harmful to children. One more thing - a recent study suggests that too much intake of Vitamin C can lead to certain cancers (can't remember which). OK, enough ranting... Lori
  25. Aren't you morally at least, if not legally obligated to inform someone you're about to fight that you're a blackbelt? If not, I'd do it in case of a lawsuit, just so they couldn't use it if they decided to sue... Lori
