  1. I'm totally impressed ts757! Lori
  2. You will be able to see her in Anne Rice's 'Queen of the Damned'. Not sure when it's coming out though.
  3. Well yes - however I started as a teenager when it was cool to smoke - and it still is considered cool in alot of ways - the media is sending out mixed messages - now it's cool if you smoke cigars, so go figure. When you're a teenager, you're more impressionable and still learning alot in many ways - especially how to fit in and some teenagers are more impressionable than others, as I was. I grew up in a house full of smokers, so had an influence from early on. I quit because I didn't want my daughter to grow up seeing me smoke. Anyways - to each his/her opinion, but don't judge unless you've been there. Lori
  4. While it's definately not a healthy thing to do, it's also an addiction like alcohol - and is supposed to be harder to kick than heroin, so please ease up on us former smokers, cause quitting is VERY difficult and should be commended. Please don't be so judgemental unless you've been there (or maybe you have - ?). Thanks! Lori
  5. Hei Richard! Jeg prater Norsk, men forstår Svensk også. Jeg bodde i Norge i fire år fordi mannen min er Norsk og datteren min var født der. Så hyggelig å ha noen jeg kan prate litt Norsk med! Hilsen, Lori

  7. Hallo og velkommen Richard! Lori
  8. On the streets, there are no rules...anything goes - especially if it's a case of life or death. Lori
  9. Have a great time taezee! We'll miss you! Lori
  10. No Valn - we have alot of kids in our school, but we have alot more adults training - sounds like your school isn't very good at student retention, and with good reason. My 5 year old is in kickboxing and she's always expected to respond, and to listen - there is no running around tolerated and it's not like a kindergarten class. Of course, because of her and other kids' ages, they do of course take that into consideration, but that doesn't mean they let them run around like maniacs. 11. KickChick - you crack me up!!!!! Lori
  12. Sorry - but if my instructor got on a power trip like that with me, I'd walk out too. I mean please, get over yourself - this isn't the frickin' army. Sure, I can understand having to do push-ups or sit-ups for not responding or for being too slow to line up for class etc. but for trying to explain - ? That's just stupid. 13. Hi Valn, I agree with the above observations as well; 45 minute classes to begin with is alright, as you're just learning and working your way up to being more fit, but they should increase to at least an hour when you get more advanced - we do our warm-ups ourselves before class, so we have more time to really work. Sounds like your instructor likes wasting time during class with pointless babble - you are paying to learn and discuss karate, not the days events in the news or whatever, so that would really irk me Lori _________________ If you think something small cannot make a difference - try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room. -Unknown- [ This Message was edited by: Kickbutt on 2001-08-29 09:27 ]
  14. OK - I've got it now - we do alot of that and yeah, I can relate to the throw-up thing BIG TIME! I'm glad to know that it's because I worked so hard then! Lori
  15. Thanks KickChick - much appreciated! Lori
  16. Hey KickChick!! Nice pic!!! Damn woman, you do NOT look your age! Thanks for sharing! Lori
  17. Hey Prodigy-Child, sounds like you know how to work it! Hope you do well! We don't have wavemasters in our Dojo - what's a wavemaster btw? We do alot of pad work in our classes, which I like the best. Our class is taught by kickboxing instructors, so it leans more towards kickboxing than a typical aerobic workout. Can you give me an example of what anerobic exercises are - I'm not quite sure what that means and I'd like to do some of those so I can use those short bursts of energy when I'm sparring. Thanks! Lori
  18. And their husbands did????????? Does the phrase "a girl in every port" mean anything to you guys? Be fair now guys! 19. Very well put KickChick! Well - I believe a true black-belt is this: Someone who has no ego/is humble and truly wishes to help others and their community. Someone who leads by setting a good example. Someone dedicated to Martial Arts and who posseses great skill in their Art. Someone who is constantly trying to better themselves. Someone who wishes to pass on their knowledge to others by teaching. OK, enough for now . Lori
