  1. Hey Ken - there's a tournament here in Vancouver at the end of next month and there's grappling demonstrations by a Gracie - I can't remember his name, maybe it's Royler but I assume he's related to the Gracie Family you speak of. I'm gonna try to make it out to see him if I can. See ya! Lori
  2. OMG! I hadn't read all of the posts before now!!! You guys are a bunch of sex starved perverts....ALRIGHT!!!!!
  3. Hi Kodek, glad to have you here! Lori
  4. No need to be envious, taezee...If you were going to my dojo, you'd be a higher belt cause green is before blue _________________ If you think something small cannot make a difference - try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room. -Unknown- [ This Message was edited by: Kickbutt on 2001-09-28 09:53 ]
  5. I don't have any pets... My husband is allergic to cats, a dog is too much work and I can't stand the mess and noise that birds make, so I dunno, maybe I'll get a hamster or something . Lori
  6. Sorry, but I have absolutely NO idea what you guys are talking about... Lil Bow Wow????????? Alrighty then!
  7. And don't you forget it !! You should always respect your seniors...hey wait a minute, what the hell am I saying??? OK, just forget the 'senior' thing... Lori
  8. Nope - but not too far off, lol! I turn 32 on December 22 - yes I'm a Christmas baby!! Lori
  9. Yes, you're right Karateka. No matter where you work or train, there will always be politics of some sort. I always avoid the people who get themselves wrapped up in it - I may not be popular because I don't participate, but from my experience you always get burned eventually. In competition, I realize you cannot control the politics and I've heard a number of stories about referees being biased, but there really isn't anything to do other than to know you did your best and not let it take anything away from your training - get the most you can out of it and forget about the politics...it's not about winning anyways! Lori
  10. Ooooooooooooo!!! And then the countdown is on to the big 3-0!!!!! It's no big deal actually - and I personally think that your 30's are the best time of your life! I'm 31 btw... Lori
  11. Yeah, baby they're timezones - PST=Pacific Standard Time (my time-8 hrs. behind you). CST=Central Standard Time (not sure-6 or 7 hrs behind maybe -??). EST=Eastern Standard Time (5hrs. behind you, I believe). Lori
  12. Hi and congrats on your new belt! My instructor is amazing!!! All you have to do is look at her and you know you're in for one helluva ride! She's relentless - and I love it, cause I know I'm getting in great shape and learning a great deal. She's also hilarious, but I definately would not want to get her PO'd! I don't know how she does it, but she knows everyone's strengths and weaknesses, so you work on what you need improving on. Our school has 500+ students, so that's a pretty impressive thing! Lori :pony:
  13. I would personally use the front kick to hit someone in the solarplex...It winds the hell outa them. I also use it to help keep my opponent from getting too close and it's quite effective. I prefer, as KickChick does, to use my round-kick to hit someone in the head, as I get alot more power by turning my hips. Lori
  14. Welcome Filter! Lori
  15. Send it to Patrick and he'll post it for you. Good luck nat! Lori
  16. Well you may be joking, but lately my Sensei has us doing knuckle push-ups!!! OMG it HURTS! I couldn't do more than 10 because they hurt so much . I'm lucky that my kickboxing school incorporates alot of the traditional martial arts such as doing katas and kumite, so we kinda have the best of both worlds. Last nite we had such a hard class, that I physically felt sick - we all did actually. My Sensei had us doing leg combinations: (without putting your foot down) front-kick, side-kick, 3 round-kicks and then a spinning hook kick - NON-STOP THE WHOLE HOUR!!! I felt like I could take on the world after class though, so it was definately worth it! Lori
  17. That's fantastic Karateka! Good luck to you and everyone in your school that will be competing - go get em'!!!!!
  18. Hehehe...yeah, we're just a bunch of flirts, I know!
  19. Sorry, I meant that it was cool that another picture was posted...but I'm sure the female population wouldn't object to you posting more here...
  20. Hmmm...that's a hard one. Not too sure what I would be - I look more innocent than I am. In fact I'm pretty damned cheeky and also very silly at times and I can be very unpredictable. I guess I'd be a cat then! Lori
  21. Cool!! More pics!! Hey there GoldDragon - lookin' goooooooood!!! Lori
  22. Yeah, I had to start wearing those a long time ago cause I'd go home with huge bruises on my shins. I can't imagine what they'd look like now if I didn't wear them! Anyways, I asked my Sensei tonite what I can do to help and she said that running backwards helps build those muscles. I may also wear running shoes when warming up too, see if that helps. Good luck Steffee!! Lori
  23. Yes, congrats - and to you too Iron - I see you got your blue... Lori
  24. Hi Baby, I have the same problem - I think it's shin splints. A friend of mine has had them too. I personally think it's because I don't wear shoes in class (we're barefooted) and my shins absorb alot of the impact of training and we do alot of running to warm up. I also do cardio and if I think that the impact of that contributes as well. I still have them too!!! Lori
  25. You don't seem stupid at all SubmissionFighter - quite the opposite - and you're very sweet too!! Lori
