  10. Yep, you're right KickChick - my face is much thinner, my upper torso was next and then my hips and butt last. And that was only after considerable amounts of cardio classes. You do alot of running though Angus, so that should help - and lay off the beer hey!!!!! (no comments about my red wine consumption, now!) Lori

  12. Hi everyone - well, I've decided to bite the bullet and enter my first competition this coming Saturday. I'm pretty excited and nervous of course. Royler Gracie will be there, as there's grappling competitions too and he and another fellow will be doing a demo at the end of the day, so I'm psyched!!! Anyways, one thing I think would be of great advantage to me is to be able to feint then attack, based on my opponent's reaction. Do any of you have any specific feinting strategies that you find work especially well for you? I'll be sparring with higher belts, so any advice regarding that would also be helpful. I've already got butterflies in my stomach...but I ain't gonna show it there - I'm gonna be one MEAN MOTHER!!! NO FEAR!!!! Lori
  13. Well, I had a 1 1/2 hr. powernap yesterday and felt tons better. My class wasn't as bad as I had thought - we just practiced our kata and ipon kumite. I looked completely ripped (no, I don't mean muscular!) because the doctor had given me drops to dialate my eyes. I was stumbling around trying to make my way home after the appt. - was totally hilarious cause it hurt for me to look up cause it was to bright for my eyes, plus he froze them too, so I coulda poked myself and not felt a thing! Anyways, I'm normal now - it looks totally cool to see your eyes that much dialated . Thanks again guys... Lori

  15. Thanks Deby, I was hoping you'd answer. The reason I'm soooo tired is a certain 5 yr. old who was up veeeeeeery early - if I don't get at least 8 hrs. sleep them I'm a zombie the day after.   16. What do most of you do when you've got a hard workout ahead of you and you're running on almost no sleep? I'm sooooo tired right now I could drop and sleep here at my desk. I know I'm gonna get it tonight in class cause I'm testing this month and my Sensei is making me work extra hard. Any help would be greatly appreciated...PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Lori :pony:

  18. Slim - thanks alot, that was a huge help to me. I'm also gonna talk to my Sensei to help me out with my strategy. Kicker - yes, she's been kickboxing longer than I have and she outweighed me by about 50lbs or so, so yeah I definately had my work cut out for me...

  24. The best way I know to learn balance for your roundhouses is to raise your leg and just extend your leg into a roundhouse...do not put it down and do sets of 10 and build up as you get better. Remember to keep the leg you're standing on strong and to use your abs.
  25. Maybe you can ask thaiboxerken - he lives in Tempe, AZ - I have no idea how close that is to you or not, but he may have an idea as to where you can go.
