  2. Ken???? Thaiboxer Ken?? Oh, sorry - I thought he'd be all over this one by now hehe.. I'm someone who wishes to believe, but until I have unwavering proof, I'm definately a non-believer. Be careful of people who will exploit your loss Lars, there are alot of them out there!! Lori
  3. Thanks very much everyone! Just something I've been thinking about for awhile and wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not. I agree that it is important to have a good grasp on your base art before moving on to something new. Lori
  4. Way to go Prodigy-Child!! Woo hoo!! You're living up to your name!!
  5. Welcome Sai!
  6. Remind me never to spar with you Submission Fighter..
  7. Hey rush, what exactly is the purpose of boardbreaking? I know it's not very difficult to do, so is it more for show? I've never tried it myself, but when someone at our dojo tests for their black belt, they put together a demo involving board breaking - it looks really cool, but is there a practical purpose for it? Lori
  8. What do you all think about crosstraining or rather learning two different arts at the same time? Do you think one would take away from the other or compliment it? Lori
  9. Hello! I'm just curious as to what you all enjoy to do in your classes. I personally love when we do circuit training, where we can do some of everything and it keeps it really interesting. We do everything from targets (holder calls out combos), bagwork (use all you techniques), sit-ups using the medicine ball, practice your kata and ipon kumite, pus-ups...and lots of others! What do you all enjoy doing? Lori
  10. Thanks Javier
  11. Good show Karateka!!! I think 4th in B.C. is definately something to be very proud of!! Lori
  12. I gotta try this one... A woman and a man collide with one another in a serious car accident. Both of their vehicles are totally demolished but amazingly, neither of them is hurt. After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately, we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days." The man replied, "I agree with you completely! This must be a sign from God!" The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune." Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man shakes his head in agreement, opens it and takes several swigs from the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, "Aren't you having any?" The woman replies, "No, I think I'll just wait for the police...."
  13. Keep practising and always make sure you're turning your hips and remember to snap your leg back right after you kick. For balance, try holding your leg up, keep it there and execute a few (5-10) roundkicks, non-stop. Keep your abs tight, as well as the leg you're standing on and just keep repeating, gradually building up over time. Lori
  14. I told this to my 5 yr. old daughter and she just about died laughing!! Why did Tigger have his head down in the toilet? Because he was looking for Pooh!!!! Hahahaha!! Too cute!!!
  15. Hahahahahahaha!!! You guys are killing me!! So many good jokes at once, I love it!! KickChick, I'm gonna cut and paste yours and send it around! Toooooooo funny.... !! Lori
  16. I'll bet you're on your way to the ladies room, Deby with all that water you're drinking!!!! I know I practically live there myself, although it has gotten better with time. I remember when I first started to drink serious amounts of water and thought I could never leave the bathroom... Lori
  17. I found his website - he's been around for quite awhile apparently and been a bodyguard to the stars for many years...interesting life he's lead! Thanks for the info Liam. Lori
  18. Thanks Jack - I've seen the site before when Slim referred me to an article there on sparring - it was very informative. Lori
  19. Wow Taezee...those are some really nice pics - you sure look like Desi when you smile!! You're quite a lady killer!! Lori
  20. Well, ok - I guess I gotta concede defeat here... . Can't say I'm too disappointed though, but I thought the Mariners might actually do it when they scored that first run!!! Oh well - congrats Yankies on a well earned win!! Lori
  21. Good luck to you Iron - train hard and let me know if you're coming to Vancouver. Lori
  22. Hahahahaha!!!!!!! Looks good on you Javier!!!! Bahahahahahaha!!!!!! Lori
  23. I was just having the same conversation with a co-worker the other day. He used to work as a security officer and wasn't paid more than $7.50/hr. Some loonie came in and asked him what he would do if he decided he was gonna rob the bank and blow everyone's head off, and he answered back that he didn't get paid enough to warrant risking his life and that he'd high-tail it out the door with the rest of them...and I wouldn't blame him a bit - you get what you pay for, so in otherwords if you want to be protected and you expect someone to risk their life for your safety, you damn well better pay them well for it. Lori
  24. Hey, I'm all for a good debate TKD, however please try to remain respectful of others in your response. I won't (or rather can't) respond to you in this same tone, as I'm a moderator here, so I'm leaving the thread alone. Your opinion is yours and I'll respect that...but I won't call you a derogatory name because I don't agree with it.
