  1. I'll have to remember to change that!! Keep forgetting .
  2. Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure he'd find a way to make it work... Lori
  3. OK, it's been deleted. I think this was when we were switching to new servers and a number of posts ended up as garble. It's all fixed now though! Lori
  4. !!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! I-AM-CANADIAN!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOOOHHHHHHH - that was a good one! Lori
  5. Wow taezee - what a great story! Thanks for being so candid, as I know it's not easy to admit when you're wrong. Lori
  6. Welcome to the boards Valn!!
  7. Very nice picture F-S-K!! Baby - you said tomorrow - and today is tomorrow!!!!!!!!! Come on now, don't be shy!! Most of the guys here don't bite! Lori
  8. Another great way to stretch your legs without hurting your back is to lie down on your back and push your butt against the wall with your legs up and stretch as far as you can - gravity will also help you to stretch more without you realizing it - works for me!! Lori
  9. Hmmm...but Shortdog, you also mentioned that he smacked the hell out of you as hard as he could . Being that he's alot more experienced than you - I would still consider that abusive. I got nailed (accidently) in the jaw by a round-kick from my Sensei (I wasn't wearing my mouth-guard or using any protective gear - it was a boxercise class and she's a south-paw and I didn't block on the correct side) and she was very distraught over whether or not I was hurt. I was fine - just a little blood, no big deal, but she would never intentionally hit me with all she's got as that would be an abuse of power. I also realize that it will take time to find another school, but it's better to get the hell outta that one for now, at least. Take care shortdog! Lori
  10. Yeah, we do those - but I've never had a problem with them, nor have I noticed anyone else having a problem with them either... Lori
  11. Did I miss something?? I don't think KickChick was being defensive... Anyways, I go to 1-2 boxercise classes per week and they are soooooo much fun!! It's a break from the ordinary - not that my classes are boring, they aren't but this has music and is a less 'formal' way of working out. Hey Patrick - do you think you could find a 'kiss' smilie? I think defenestration_girl needs it... Lori
  12. OK Angus (duh!) - I get it now . Sorry - I just woke-up!!
  13. THANK-YOU LADIES!!!! As I think everyone but you misunderstood - it wasn't my technique that was the problem - it was my balance due to my equilibrium...I was so frustrated and didn't understand why I could nail it one day and the next I kept falling on my butt! I was simply trying to convey to people here that yes - you are allowed to have an off day - due to illness or whatever - and that it's no reason to be discouraged! I have since returned to my regular routine after my vacation and lots of rest and am working out as usual with no problems. Angus - not sure what you're referring to - could be cause I just woke up Lori
  14. Johnny!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with rushman - you look like you could do someone some serious damage!! Your pic looks good - but kinda hard to see your eyes 'n stuff because of the shadows, but a great pic nonetheless and thanks for sharing Iron! As I said before - let us know if you're coming to Vancouver to fight in November - I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to go see ! 15. Welcome back James! Refresh our memories and tell us where you've been... Lori
  16. It's true - you do have to be in good shape in order to continue up to the higher belts...I found that if I take 1-2 cardio classes per week in addition to my training that it helps alot. I don't think I could make it through any of my classes if I didn't. I'm also fortunate enough to have an unbelievable female Sensei who is a great motivator and believes in me - a great asset as well as a great role model. You definately need good balance, flexibility and determination - I like how KickChick described it best. And no, you don't have to be a kid to start... Lori P.S. I agree Karateka - I only see 'twit' too lol - no offence intended
  17. Hi Tobias, No, we aren't - we're part of the SKF - Sport Kickboxing Federation. I really like our creed - it's a great motivator just before class. Cheers! Lori
  18. Great post, Jerry!! I'm a kickboxer, however our creed is a good one and I thought I'd share it with you: I intend to develop myself in a positive manner, and to avoid anything that could reduce my mental growth or physical health I intend to develop self-discipline, to bring out the best in myself and my fellow man. I intend to use what I learn in class constructively and defensively; to help myself and others and never to be abusive or offensive. I shall be loyal to my instructors and Champions Academy. This is a Champions School! We are decicated! We are motivated! We are on a quest to be our best! We then bow and say "Ouss!" Lori
  19. That's funny how you brought that up - I just found out the same thing not too long ago...and I must be REALLY fit cause I sweat like a racehorse!!!! My entire shirt is soaking wet by the time I'm done! One thing to keep track of though, is your intake of water - always drink lots!! Even more when you're working out! 20. Welcome and Happy Posting to you!!!! Lori :pony:
  21. Absolutely right Bob - I do alot of core conditioning to help with my balance, as it's one of the most difficult things to master... Lori
  22. Yeah - you're right, but I wasn't slowing it down...I tried to do the same as I normally would - fast! I have no problem with the technique itself, it's just that I couldn't do it over and over again with the same speed as I usually have because I was feeling totally off balance that day...it was really frustrating! Lori
