Sparring Tips Please!
Kickbutt replied to Kickbutt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Yep, that's right - thanks Diablo. Usually I wear shin-protectors, cause mine are so bony that it doesn't take much to bruise. We weren't actually supposed to hit each other, but he just got in so close that when I did a roundhouse I hit him when he blocked. Lori -
Thank-you very much SF . Lori

Sparring Tips Please!
Kickbutt replied to Kickbutt's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Thanks alot, I totally forgot about the sweep!! I couldn't do that though, cause it was just shadow sparring. I'll try that and a good jab next time. Lori -
Hey Everyone! I'm going to see the new Jet Li movie this weekend and was wondering if any of you have seen it yet and what you thought of it - I can't wait to see it! Lori

Hey! Yesterday we were doing a bit of shadow sparring as we were warming up and I had a bit of a problem when sparring this one guy who kept coming in really close - it was sooo frustrating!!! Argh!! I actually got a really bad bruise/mark on my shin cause he got too close as I was throwing a round-kick and got my shin-bone, ouch!!! Anyways, I know it's a good idea to manuever as much as possible - to go around him when he comes in close - as in to turn to my left or right. I usually like to use my front-kick to push people away, but this guy was way too close for that. Does anyone have any other techniques that work really well, other than what I've already mentioned? Thanks! Lori

 You guys are too much (excuse me while I make my way though all this testosterone!). Yes, we women are attracted to a man who can take care of himself - but if you don't have the personality to go with it or if you are too full of yourself - yuck, what a turnoff!! You guys are too funny!! -

I personally carry a kubaton with me wherever I go and think it's a pretty deadly weapon - small but hard and heavy, so as to deal a devastating blow to the cheek, eye, head, crotch - wherever - even on the knuckles. If you can manage to land one good blow, it should either surprise and/or incapacitate them long enough for you to get the heck outa there! -
iamrushman, you look and seem like a very nice man. Thanks for sharing your pic! Lori

I had to sign up, but I got to see your picture!!! Go cowboy - yahoo!! Nice to put a face to the name, iamrushman!! Cheers! Lori

Hi, When I first learned to do a round kick, I had the same problem with a "clicking" in my hips. All I did was take it easy and let my body slowly get used to it. Do alot of stretching, but most importantly don't overdo it or you'll end up in alot of pain and will have to wait even longer to learn it...

Hey I know those guys!! Yeah!!! The Green Humpty People!!!!! ROFL. Thanks, I needed a good laugh! I believe that you're pushing your luck if you intend to stick around and fight it out - wind 'em and run like hell!! Lori

Hello Iamrushman thank-you for your reply - I workout always on the same floor - it's made of wood. Other than my regular kickboxing classes, I do boxercise for cardio - all on the same floor. I'll perhaps buy a new pair of shoes. I've taken Ken's advice about drinking more water and it seems to have helped somewhat. Thanks again! Lori

OK, I'll look it up and see what I can find...I've got quite a few signatures already and will be taking the list to Dale Floyd for him to take to his school, so hope it does equally well there. See ya. Lori -
HA!!!!!!!!!! BOTH your teams combined couldn't beat Manchester!!!! It's nice to dream though.... Lori
-
Ok, I'll get on it and get a picture posted!! I may just take one with my webcam this weekend, with my daughter - she's too cute not to include in the picture too! Read your Yahoo! profile Ken and what impressed me the most (because I'm a woman, I guess), was your reference to your wife under "Hobbies". Very sweet!! And ANGUS!!! Got to post your picture tooooooooo!!!! Wanna see what a so-called "arrogant" Aussie looks like And of course am curious as to what everyone else looks like. Ouss. Lori

Well said, Submission Fighter!! I totally agree! My instructors gained my respect after setting the example - the eat, breathe and live what they teach and are some of the most disciplined people I've ever met. They do however, make it clear that you are there to work hard and because I respect them so much, I want to be like them and strive to be as disciplined as they are. Ouss.
