  1. Well, we decided not to have cable anymore, but the shows I liked are Friends, Frasier (nice new paycheck for Kelsey Grammar btw) and Whose Line is it Anyway?
  2. NO WAY MAN - IT'S MANCHESTER ALL THE WAY!!! WOO HOO - SOLSKJAER ROCKS!!! LOL
  3. Don't feel bad Jen, I haven't done it yet either and I've been here longer Anyways, here goes... My name is Lori and I live in North Vancouver, Canada. I'm 31 yrs old (30's ROCK!) and am married with a 5 yr. old daughter. My daughter and I both started training at Champions Academy 2 years ago. I have been hooked ever since! My daughter, on the other hand loves the school and the instructors, but is going through a "I don't want to go - it's too hard" phase...I'm trying to keep her interested and am working with her instructors, as I really think it would be a shame for her to quit!! However I won't force her to go as I don't want her to hate it in the end - hey Jen, maybe you could enlighten me, as you started so young -? Anyways - my favorite thing to do in class or on Saturdays is to spar (can't get enough of it haha!!) and I'm now an assistant instructor, which gives me great pleasure! Sorry this took me soooooo long to write guys!! Ouss. Lori
  4. Hi Jen, Glad to see we didn't lose you after all... Lori
  5. Yes Karateka, I firmly believe that if you are prone to violence, that it is a direct result of what you have learned via your upbringing or certain events in your life. We are a product of our upbringing and our environment and tend to gravitate to what we know or what's familiar, regardless of right or wrong. There are also mental/neurological disorders that can lead to violence, but that's another issue... Lori
  6. I echo the sentiment Jen...you can be whatever you choose - remember, everything is a choice, including how you choose to react - which brings me to my next point: This was to be a clean debate...there were no underhand implications that I read on Jen's behalf - I believe you chose to see it that way...Of all the posts I've seen Jen make, she has been very informative and forward with her thoughts and beliefs. Someone expressing their beliefs does not constitute an arguement, but a simple debate - it's a good learning tool and can also be very enlightening. A good debate can be alot of fun too!! So don't worry too much about it, you know what you stand for - but don't discount them either as you could be missing out...This was not in any way meant to be disrespectful - I simply wanted to help smooth things over. Ouss. Lori
  7. Just a quick thought regarding evolution: The Human Genome Project - this will enable us to know if someone, through their genetics is suseptible to ie. cancer, mental disorders, etc, and gives us the power of "God" as it were to be able to create life as we see fit, thus controlling our own evolution... I am very interested in hearing your thoughts about this from a religious standpoint (especially Tae and Ken, as I've found your debates to be quite informative). Ouss. Lori
  8. Thanks F-S-K, I'll give it a try! Lori
  9. Ok, thx F-S-K, been wondering about that for the longest time, thx!! It's good to see you migrated over from the old board too Lori
  10. Hi Apollo, Glad to see you've joined us again!! This is alot more fun than the old board, so hope you like it too!!
  11. I admire you for persevering in the face of so much adversity...I am very glad for you that you found someone who believed in you - you deserve that. Thanks for your inspiring story and keep believing in yourself!
  12. AAAAHHHHHH c'mon and admit it Partick - YOU LOVE IT!!! HAHA!
  13. Hi all - I asked this question on the old board and am asking it here again. I would really love to hear from all of you about what martial arts has done to change your lives - no matter how big or small the change... This Message was edited by: Kickbutt on Jun 24, 2001 6:35pm
  14. As motivation, I know from past experience that anger is definately a useful tool. Once it has helped you to overcome/bypass your fear however, I believe it has served it's purpose. Anger is usually viewed by many as a negative emotion, but like all other emotions, it is necessary in order to maintain balance in one's life. You just need to know when it's appropriate and to recognize when it's not. Ouss. Lori
  15. Hey Guys, I try to workout as often as I can...I have my 2 regular kickboxing classes per week, plus I go to 1-2 cardio classes to help build endurance and I also spar every Saturday. Ouss. Lori
  16. I downloaded the software for WINMX Angus - thanks again!! And you can call me Lori ok????
  17. OMG you guys are making me hungry!!! I love Mexican, Greek, Japanese, Norwegian, Italian and CHOCOLATE!!! MMMMM......LMAO
  18. I think if I didn't wear protective gear when sparring I'd look like a walking bruise and probably wouldn't be able to spar as often as I do (which I love to do btw). Hey, did you guys see the video of the guy who broke his leg (literally)? How can that happen? Was it because he kicked the other guy so hard? Or did he have weak bones? And does that happen often? Man that was gross...
  19. Hi and welcome! I also live in North Van and train at Champions Academy - you probably heard of it, or maybe not....Anyways good to have you on the board and I look forward to hearing more from you! Ouss.
  20. A bunch of us are all from kickboxing.com too...
  21. Yep, you get the cool black belt Ken...lol
  22. I also need to put in my two bits about Jean Claude Van Damme - I loved the movie Bloodsport, however am not very impressed by the size of the man's ego. To me, Martial Arts is about being humble and Van Damme seems to have forgotten that...
