This would be a great time to mentally preform the technique you know. Perform each technique you know step by step using visualsation, I found this helps with kata. You could also take this time to work on foot work. This gives you time to see if you have anything that's out of wack. Visualisation if nothing else.

With todays drive on mma you should have no problem finding a school offering a grappling of some sort. -
What is your best break...

It's not as bad as you might think. You just have to focus and believe in your technique. Also start with something easy like some pine board. It's kinda fun when you get to do it. -
Welcome to the boards. Enjoy your stay.

I've seen a few pins in international Judo compotion and useally the Judoka on the bottem can't move at all. So I'd say the pin makes a very dominate statement. Think if you were rolling with someone who could put you on you back and immobilize you completely for 30 seconds. This means you can't even move their body an inch.

Most technical street fight ever
pittbullJudoka replied to cross's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
I remember the episode without watchingthe youtube clip. The guys definately deserved to be sent home after disrespecting not Dana but the UFC for acting in such a manner after being given the chance that they had. Also I was glad to see this fight happen. The reason I say this is a lot of BJJ guys who've been preaching that their style alone is the best for a street fight got proven wrong. Yes alcohol was involed and all the other guys from the house were pressuring for it to happen. So that made it a pretty realistic setting. I hope for the sake of BJJ practicioners everywhere they have learned to not pull guard in a street fight. Because anyone of the other guys could have stepped up and kicked on him like a soccer ball. I chalked up as two young guys who can't handle their drinks or their emotions. -
Welcome to the board and the addiction we all suffer from called training in martial art no matter what style.

I too suffer from knee problems from wrestling in school. Those knee braces have their pros and cons. The pros are stability and confort when the pain is there but on the down side your body will become so use to the extra support that you get to were you can't function in a sports setting without them. The pain in you feet could be them use to taking an impact or the twisting and turning of you skin on the hard wood that it's not built a tolorance to yet. Back to the knee braces buy a quality one the support better and last longer.

Tougher, Faster, Stronger
pittbullJudoka replied to Aces Red's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I that type of situation I would try to get the fight going at my pace and fight the way I would any other person as mentioned above. You want to end this situation quickly. If you are very confident with you clinch work and throws I would go this route because throwing someone on pavement or hard packed earth is going to take the wind out of the sails. But most street fighters aren't in that great of shape even though they may appear to be. These guys what people to fear them but rarely do they train in anything other than too much tv and web surfing. -
Welcome and enjoy you stay.

Never heard of it most instructors try to get their students good deals. At my dojo we pay whole sale plus shipping and we I order something for the guys I I just charge shipping and my cost. Looks like the instructor is looking to make a buck off the equipment too. -

Why did you join MAs???
pittbullJudoka replied to NewEnglands_KyoSa's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I guess I have my older brother to thank. He started when I was in eigth or ninth grade and I would see him practising his kata in the basement or in the back yard depending on the season. I guess I watched this and tape of him at tournaments for around a year. And decided to go try it out after he had shown me the basic kata and how to punch correctly. I picked karate up to stay in shape for wrestling season for the summer so I thought. I stuck with it for about a year and a half until I got a job were I could be off on nights that class was held. Fast forward eight years. Again my older brother calls me up and says come work out with us. I got and this time it's a driffent style and they incorperated grappliing into it. Instant winner in my book since I loved wrestling when I was in high school. After that day he only had to ask if I had to work late to know if I was going to be at class. And again fast forward 3 years 10 months and 21 days I am sitting here typing this thinking about next week classes. -
kempo karate and jujitsu
pittbullJudoka replied to mmljpp's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I would say yes to both even though we don't have a certified black belt in jujitsu. I can figure about anything out that is involed in grappling my mind just clicks with that type of thing. -
Anyone know of slippers that can be used on the mat?
pittbullJudoka replied to marmaduke's topic in Equipment and Gear
Also remember you maybe able to find something on ebay. I picked up my last pair of wrestling shoes for about $20 after shipping. Most ma shoes are designed from wrestling shoes.
